Priapus (h22) and Black Moon Lilith (h21) are usually seen as inextricably linked in astrology, usually because both tend to orbit on opposite ends of an axis together (though not always). Priapus is considered the perigee (closest to the Earth) and Lilith the apogee (furthest from the Earth).
The myth of Priapus is such: he was cursed by the Gods to be perpetually erect but to never be able to consummate his lust (to make a long story short). Try as he might, his sexual advances are always thwarted one way or another.
The myth of Lilith in comparison: Developed during the Jewish exile in Babylon several hundred years before the birth of Christ, Lilith was seen as a sexually wanton figure who was anti-motherhood (she stole and killed babies, etc). In the Middle Ages a theory developed that she was seen as Adam’s first wife who was punished for being unruly. Citation needed of course but that’s how the tale goes.
So really two ends of the same coin - sexual outcasts who were strangely enough created during times of sexual liberation long before the Common Era.
It’s said that women actually relate more carnally to their Priapus
Whereas men relate more carnally to their Lilith
In my small sample sizes, I can absolutely say that I felt the most consumed with desire when someone closely pinged my Priapus. My Lilith… not so much. My Psyche even seems to see more action in comparison.
Though I wonder how much of this is because my Priapus is so active in my natal chart?
And (naturally) it’s opposite my h21 Lilith (3°)
I would say I’m a pretty mild person when it comes to carnal pleasures - it’s pretty hard to tick all those boxes for me. The formula in itself is ineffable - I hardly know what triggers the lust. I don’t know if this is just a legacy of my Catholic upbringing or what, though a common factor I can certainly count on is… Priapus.
Even when synastry goes awry, Priapus is the smarmy jerk fanning the flames of desire in all these instances. Against my better judgement.

I’m sorry, I know that long lists like that can make the eyes glaze over after a while. What I’ve deduced is that in a woman, if she has significant Priapus hits in synastry with a male partner, one should hope that the male partner has significant Lilith hits as well. Otherwise, if the female party is dominated by her Priapus being activated, she’ll feel sexually in thrall with little leverage to use in the interpersonal dynamic.
Also, if there is strong Priapus/Priapus synastry with little Lilith, the “dominance” of the dynamic is again tilted to the male’s advantage.
But that’s just my hypothesis… thoughts on these asteroids?
