This is a post about the 11th Harmonic Aspects.



They are created from dividing the circle into 11 sections.


1/11 is Undecile 32°43'37''

2/11 is BiUndecile 65°27'16''

3/11 is TriUndecile 98°10'54''

4/11 is QuadriUndecile 130°54'32''

5/11 is QuinqueUndecile 163°38'10''



Astrologers who consider only 30° series of aspects and use wide orbs may view the Undecile as a Semisextile (30°), the BiUndecile as a Sextile (60°), and the TriUndecile as a Square (90°). Some Astrologers may view the QuadriUndecile as the 165° aspect which has been erroneously referred to as Quindecile which was the name already given to the 24° aspect before Noel Tyl even wrote about the 165° aspect. Quindecile refers to divisions of the circle into 15 sections and not 15° just like the Undecile refers to divisions of the circle into 11 sections and not 11°. My Mercury is part of both a 15th Harmonic pattern and a 11th Harmonic aspect pattern.


I was first introduced to 11th Harmonic aspects in 2000 through Adze's Astroinsight Report program that I bought along with David Cochrane's Kepler program which I have upgraded to Sirius. Only the Undecile was included. My Astroinsight Report showed that I revealed that I have Sun Undecile Jupiter and Mercury Undecile Uranus.

I disagree with Adze's view about the 11th Harmonic being associated with Aquarius and Air.

I switched to the Sidereal Zodiac from the Tropical Zodiac over 6 years ago without looking back after I bought and read Babylonian Star-lore by Gavin White. After learning that the Mesopotamians viewed the constellation Gu-la (Aquarius) as representing the Mesopotamian God of Waters and Wisdom, Ea/Enki who had characteristics of both Poseidon/Neptune and Prometheus, I no longer view Aquarius as an air sign ruled by Uranus. Considering that Ea/Enki was God of Intelligence, I don't think that intellect is necessarily a characteristic of the air element. My Moon in Tropical Pisces is in Aquarius in Sidereal Zodiac and in the actual constellation Aquarius conjunct multiple main stars in the constellation Aquarius. Ea/Enki's sacred number was 40, and so I wonder if the 40th Harmonic Chart could be used into insight about things that Ea/Enki was associated with. Creativity is definitely one, and 40 is a number that is a multiple of 5. The 5th Harmonic is associated with creativity.

I have a 11th Harmonic Irregular Pentagon consisting of Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Pluto's fellow transneptunian dwarf planet/candidate Sedna.

All aspects are within the 11th Harmonic proportionate orb of 1 deg 22 minutes which is based off 15 degree orb for Conjunction.

Sedna is a Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet candidate Sedna that was named after the Inuit Ocean Goddess Ruler of the Underworld Adlivun because of its extreme distance and extreme coldness. It is the most distant object in our solar system with its closest point to the Sun at a very distant 76 AU and its farthest point from the Sun at a far more distant 937 AU. Its eccentricity of 0.8496 is much higher than all the other Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet/candidates. Its maximum distance from the ecliptic is 12 degrees which is less than Pluto's at 17 degrees.

It's a detached object that might come from a hypothesized Oort Cloud. With the orbit in mind, Sedna can be viewed being Otherworldly, Nonconformist, "Out There" and Remote. It makes Uranus look very normal and Neptune look very mundane. Linda Lee Berry's main themes for Sedna is Unconscious Depths, Otherworldly.

I truly believe that my 11th Harmonic Irregular factor into my neurodivergence of Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, ADHD. There is no doubt in mind that my 11th Harmonic aspect pattern involving Uranus fit with my strong interest in Astrology, but I would prefer a nonconformist approach with Sedna in the mix. Saturn involved in the 11th Harmonic aspect is not just structure and discipline but also restriction, limitations, blockages, and delays. I had neurodivergent weaknesses that were treated with auditory therapy, speech therapy, phonics training, and motor skills therapy. I had reached developmental milestones later than neurotypical children.


David Cochrane noted that 11th Harmonic is often involved in mental and emotional disturbances. 11th harmonic is one of the first things that they looks at when there is something disturbed in the person, something unbalanced, something on edge because the 11 is very unstable and it feels like the 11 is reaching to 12. Mercury involved in the 11th Harmonic would definitely be an emphasis on the mental aspect of the disturbance. Uranus would definitely be involved in the instability, but Sedna would be the instability at a far greater extent as well as disturbance. I even have Mercury oppose Sedna with only 4 minutes of arc in Galactic Longitude! The Galactic coordinate system has been used by astronomers. The first galactic coordinate system was used by William Herschel in 1785. Michael Erlewine has noted the Galactic Coordinate system as A coordinate system that can be useful in Astrology. The Astronomy program Stellarium shows Galactic Coordinates for celestial objects. There are also sites that allow you to convert to Galactic Coordinates from other coordinates. Hopefully, Astrology programs will include Galactic Coordinates in the future.



When I was going over my theories about the Astrology of Neurodivergence 12 years ago, I did include the 11th Harmonic aspects as well as the 7th Harmonic aspects, 9th Harmonic aspects, and 5th Harmonic aspects for different reasons that I explained in detail.


David Cochrane (creator of Kepler Astrology Program) says that any aspect that has 11 in the denominator is very unstable, erratic, impatient, and rebellious which fit with neurodivergence quite a bit because they are not naturally conforming to arbitrary rules of society in regards to their physical being and thinking. Some other astrologers say that the 11th Harmonic is associated with social consciousness and the ability to reach beyond oneself for help which I also believe is common with many neurodivergents who are strongly aware and tolerant of differences because of their own differences which lead them to raise awareness about differences in people. From the looks of it, it seems that these aspects have an Aquarius/Uranian flavor.

There is a strong overlap and co-existence between neurodivergent conditions. There is also strong overlap and co-existence (medical use the term, co-morbidity) between neurodivergent conditions and mental illnesses. Dr. Harold N. Levinson noted that the symptoms of neurodivergence have been mistaken for psychological problems. Because of the overlapping and co-existence (medical term is co-morbidity) of Dyslexia with other neurodivergent conditions, he referred to neurodivergence in general as Dyslexic Syndrome which he believes stems from Cerebellar Vestibular Dysfunction.

Ron Davis , who is both Autistic and Dyslexic, recognized the co-existence between neurodivergent conditions too. He refers to neurodivergence as all part of what he calls Gift of Dyslexia. He also noted that neurodivergents have problems with processing in connection to disorientation

When I was doing a search for Astrologers with Mercury-Uranus minor aspects, I found out that my favorite astrologer Philip Sedgwick has a Mercury-Uranus 11th Harmonic aspect like I do! He has Mercury QuadriUndecile Uranus with an orb of only 2 minutes!

I checked to see if his Mercury QuadriUndecile Uranus is part of 11th Harmonic Aspect pattern. I turns out that it's the case. It's part of a very fine looking 11th Harmonic aspect pattern with Jupiter and Neptune. It's an Isosceles Trapezoid that consists of two Isosceles Triangles that overlap with each other. It has beautiful symmetry. This is definitely the astrological indicator of a genius.

David Cochrane's description of the 11th Harmonic makes me think of USA.

It turns out that USA Sibley chart has Mercury, Mars, Haumea, Eris 11th Harmonic Isosceles Trapezoid that consist of 2 overlapping Isosceles Triangles. Haumea is a Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet named after The Hawaiian Goddess of Fertility and Childbirth. Pieces broke off from its body to form some of its 2 moons and objects referred to as Haumeids. In Mythology, Haumea's children sprang from different parts of her body. It has a very fast daily rotation of 3.9 hours. When observed, it looks like a spinning American football that has been kicked. Its maximum distance from the ecliptic is around 28° which is much greater than Pluto's at 17°.

Eris is a Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet named after the Greek Goddess of Discord. It's a scattered disk object. Its eccentricity is 0.43607. Its closest point to the Sun is around 38 AU of the Sun. Its farthest point from the Sun is around 97 AU. Its maximum distance from the ecliptic is around 44° which is close to the angular distance of the SemiSquare (45°) and much greater than Haumea's at 28°.

Uranus cannot compare to these Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planets in regards to being unusual, and that should be considered in their astrological interpretations.


Linda Lee Berry's primary keyword for Haumea is Creative, Spiritual Birth. Her primary keywords for Eris is Unexpected, Unsettling Awareness.

The configurations look quite passion, intense volatile with a potential for great destruction and chaos even though there is a strong potential for being creative and breaking ground. There is great emphasis on diversity but also great discord. There is long history of great divisiveness, disturbance, instability and violence in USA. Mercury, Mars Eris, and Haumea in 11th Harmonic aspect pattern can easily point to great mental instability, disturbance that can involve violence. This configuration can also strongly reflect it being a military superpower with exceptional nuclear capability. I don't believe that nuclear power should be associated with only Pluto. I believe Pluto's fellow Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planets should get that association too. The first detonation of a nuclear weapon occurred when there was a Mercury-Haumea conjunction with an orb of 37 minutes in arc in Right Ascension. There was a Moon-Eris opposition with an orb of 2 degrees, 32 minutes in Right Ascension. In Azimuth (Horizontal Longitude) there was a Mars-Sedna conjunction under 2 degree orb.

2.) I had a quick look at the 11th harmonic chart of my own sidereal natal chart (with Sedna, Haumea and Eris included) - which revealed that Eris makes an 11H conjunction with Pluto and Venus. ... Interestingly, I have a lifelong habit of staring hard/"unsettlingly" at strangers who have subsequently played a significant role in my life - and believe these to be past-life contacts whom I am unconsciously "recognising" in my current lifetime.

I have a Venus-Jupiter-Uranus 11th harmonic Triangle

With the corresponding midpointpicture of
Venus conjunct Jupiter/Uranus (0.10).

So this midpoint has an 11th harmonic Vibration

(Which IS one of my thoughts, that all midpointpictures aren't exactly the same but need to be Seen AS Expression of their harmonic, same IS true for composite alignments btw. Not Sure how strong the underlying harmonic colours the Expression, but IT probably makes a difference, at least I keep an eye on that).

Do we identify the activation of the planets by progressions and transits, then attempt to relate the timing to an event in our lives?

Transit Pluto made a series of conjunctions to my natal Venus from mid-October 1980 to the end of September 1981. ... I had changed my job/employer in April 1980, and those 11.5 months were very much a sink-or-swim time in my career. ... However, it was indeed a period when my "unsettling staring" issue was inflicted upon several people whom I encountered for the first time that (subsequently) played a significant part in helping me to swim (before I changed jobs/employers again in October 1983).

Without those people, I would definitely have sunk ... and there is no doubt in my mind that these were past-life contacts who were contracted-in-my-natal-chart to help me through a difficult period of intense personal development.

They can work on a psychological level.  I believe that my 11th Harmonic Irregular Pentagon greatly factors into my neurodivergence. After all,  Mercury is the planet that is associated with mental processes and the nervous system.
My interests in Astrology includes Psychological including especially Neuro-Psychological (like with neurodivergence) as well as Medical. 

I actually started off being into Psychological Astrology, and I was strongly influenced by Dr. Glenn Perry and had his books on Psychological Astrology.  I actually bought Solar Fire because it was recommended by him.  This was back in 1999.   Of course, I've completely diverged from him with my use of the Sidereal Zodiac and not using zodiac sign interpretations nor houses as well as view Pluto as not a planet and view the other Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet/candidates and Ceres just as important as Pluto.


David Hamblin was interested in the psychological interpretation of Astrology.

"My interest was purely in the psychological interpretation of the birth chart, and in particular the study of the relationship between planets in the birth chart, known to astrologers as the study of “aspects”. Having been trained in Psychosynthesis, which teaches that the personality is made up of many different “sub-personalities” which may be in conflict with one another, I saw the planets as representing the sub-personalities."

In his book,  Astrology of the 21st Century,   David Cochrane wrote:


Another rule that I use in chart interpretation is that takes 3 planets in aspect to each other to create a gestalt or major interest, or subpersonality in the person. Two planets in aspect gives a trait; the person may be aggressive or quiet, or may be philosophical, or whatever, but this is a trait and is not strong enough to motivate the person to make this characteristic a dominant theme and pursuit in the person's life.  Three planets are required to have dynamic energy flow, a kind of circuitry for energy to flow through. Two planets in aspect creates  a depth and complexity in the energy circuitry that gives a larger capacity to develop in a more sophisticated and advanced manner.  One person may have Mercury trine Jupiter, so he is broadminded with a good sense of philosophy and larger issues, but this person does not necessarily make this trait a focus of his interests. If another planet combines with this Mercury trine Jupiter aspect to form a 3-planet pattern, then a circuitry is created and the person is much more likely to pursue his broad thinking in active and successful manner, perhaps becoming active in politics, philosophy, or any area that requires a good comprehension of larger issues and perspectives. 


I am going with David Cochrane's approach.

I consider only objects.
I don't include any type of nodes (it's not just Moon that has nodes) , Midheaven/Imum Coeli, Ascendant/Midheaven for they are abstract points in space.    


Besides the luminaries, the planets, and Pluto which has always been one of many objects in a minor planet belt in the outer regions,   I decided to regularly work with the objects that are official dwarf planets in Astronomy which are Ceres, Eris, Makemake, and Haumea. Ceres is the only official dwarf planet that is not a Trans-Neptunian 0bject. It is quite different in that way.  It's also quite different from the other asteroids with it having having physical nature of that of a Kuiper Belt object like Pluto, and it is now strongly suspected to have its origins in the outer regions of the solar system.  Ceres shouldn't just be interpreted like a typical asteroid. It needs to be interpreted similarly to a Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet, and so it should be viewed like an Evolutionary Intensified Object. 

The only other objects that I decided to work with are Gonggong, Quaoar, Sedna, and Orcus which are the 4th largest Trans-Neptunian objects after Pluto, Eris, Makemake, and Haumea. All four of them have diameters larger than 900 km like Ceres does, and they meet the criteria of Dwarf Planet. 

Before he died, David Hamblin was working with Chiron, Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta.   Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta are the first four asteroids discovered and used to be official planets before being downgraded.  As I pointed out, Ceres is classed as a dwarf planet and has physical features of Kuiper Belt Object.  Pallas and Vesta are very different from all the other asteroids as proto-planets aka planetary embyros. 


In his Harmonic Astrology research, David Cochrane mentioned the following while discussing Leon Fleisher's chart in the 18th Harmonic section.

A final note about Leon Fleisher's chart is that dwarf planets and large asteroids are strongly aspected to planets in his chart. Haumea is exactly conjunct his Sun, in the 9th harmonic chart.  Eris, Quaoar, and Varuna are also conjunct the Sun, MakeMake is conjunct the Moon-Venus-Uranus conjunction, Orcas and Ixion are rightly conjunct Saturn and Ceres is conjunct the Neptune-Pluto conjunction. In the 63rd harmonic, Orcas, Makemake, Ixion, and Eris are conjunct the Saturn-Moon-Venus-Uranus conjunction. I mention this only as a point of interest and possible future research.

I am about the Geometry for the most part, and so I am not looking at a bunch of harmonic charts to check out conjunctions to see if they're in a harmonic aspect in regular chart nor looking at specific harmonic aspects and patterns in them.  I am just going to be looking at the minor aspects in relation to the harmonic in the regular chart like how I have shown with the 11th Harmonic aspects.   I am looking at mainly 3 or more objects that include a luminary or personal planet in aspect to each other within its proportionate harmonic orb.  I will consider a single aspect if it has considerably small orb for its harmonic and includes a luminary or personal planet.  I will give greater weight if they are symmetrical that they have corresponding midpoint pictures with Isoscles Trapezoids (IsoTraps). 

I set up a lot of harmonic aspect sorts up to the 31st Harmonic set up on Solar Fire, and I can rapidly go from one aspect sort to the next and see clearly see the aspect pattern by just seeing those specific harmonic aspects in the chart.

A. J. Foyt (01/16/1935, 01:25 AM, Houston, TX, AA) was a very successful racing car driver. As noted in the biography of him at wikipedia.com "He holds the all-time USAC career wins record with 159 victories, and the all-time American championship racing career wins record with 67.".


In his 11th harmonic chart Saturn, Mars, Jupiter, Neptune, and Sun are conjunct with about a 15 degree orb. Jupiter, Neptune, and Sun are also opposition Pluto. Reinforcing direct midpoint structures are Mars conjunct Jupiter/Neptune and Jupiter conjunct Sun/Neptune. Jupiter and Neptune are involved in both midpoint structures, suggesting that Foyt has great visions and hopes, and is perhaps inclined to speculate, gamble, or travel.


The 11th harmonic indicates restlessness and a desire to keep moving.

Foyt dropped out of high school before graduation. According to the biography at wikipedia.com he dropped out to be a mechanic but at another website it is stated that he dropped out in order to race cars. • I have found with fairly good consistency that very strong 11th harmonic patterns lead the person to a kind of restlessness that often leads them to play music, dance, get involved in fast-paced activities, and in some cases can lead to insomnia or the use of stimulants.

The use of stimulants can lead to the person becoming unable to function well and consequently not being able to hold down a job, have successful relationships, etc.

• The 11th harmonic can also drive the person to push beyond the boundaries of nearly everyone else.

Foyt, of course, threw himself into the dangerous and exciting
sport of race car driving and became one of the greatest racing car drivers of all time. Foyt's chart fits the expectations of our theoretical framework extremely well. With Saturn, Mars, and Sun also in 11th harmonic, the drive, energy, and tenacity that Foyt had for race car driving is strongly indicated.


Amazingly, another extraordinarily successful racing car driver, Ralph Lee Earnhardt, also has one of the strongest 11th harmonic patterns in the database. Earnhardt is the
father of the extremely famous and successful racing car driver Dale Earnhardt and also Dale Jr who is also a racing car driver. According to the biography at wikipedia.com, Dale idolized his father and racing cars was the major theme of the family. Note that although Dale is a superstar, his father was also a championship racing driver as well.

Ralph Lee (02/23/1928, 11:30 PM, Concord, NC, AA) was born with a Sun-Mercury conjunction which is in 11th harmonic with Jupiter, Pluto, and Venus. In the 11th harmonic
all 5 planets are within a 16 degree orb. In the 11th harmonic chart Sun, Venus, and Pluto are trine Saturn and sextile Uranus. Supporting direct midpoint structures involving the 5 planets in 11th harmonic are Sun and Mercury conjunct Venus/Jupiter (Sun with a smaller orb). Also, the sextile and trines pattern is reinforced with Uranus opposition Saturn/Pluto with a 3' orb.

The 11th harmonic indicates a restless and adventurous desire to "make it big" or "strike it rich", to get to a better life (Venus, Jupiter and Pluto, and also the Sun involved), and a need to be on the move. The sextile-trine pattern indicates a kind of free-wheeling, almost rebellious streak that has "swing" or some grace to it. Ralph could have gone into music or dance as well as into car racing.

Of course, not every race car driver has an extremely strong 11th harmonic pattern. There are other ways that a person can develop the talents, skills, and motivations to succeed as a race car driver. This is true of any field of course, not just car racing, and also it is important to keep in mind that every person brings different styles and specific traits that help them excel.

Another point that is critically important is that sometimes the planetary patterns are more intricate than the patterns being analyzed in this study of individuals with the strongest pattern in a particular harmonic. For example, Dale Earnhardt, Sr. has two 11th harmonic triangles as well as two other pairs of planets in 11th harmonic and there are aspects between groups of these planets in the 11th harmonic. One of the 11th harmonic triangles involves the three planets Moon,Mercury, and Uranus and Mercury is conjunct the Moon/Uranus midpoint. Just this 11th harmonic pattern alone indicates the spontaneity, restlessness, and quick reflexes that are motivating and helpful for race car driving.


Chris Farley (02/15/1964, 03:34 PM, Madison, WI, AA) was a comedian and actor who had become popular but his life was cut short when he died from a morphine and cocaine overdose at age 33. He struggled with obesity from a very early age and he also had sought treatment several times for his drug addictions.

Farley was born with a Sun-Mars-Saturn conjunction and all 3 planets are in 11th harmonic aspect to Neptune and Pluto. In the 11th harmonic chart these 5 planets spread across slightly less than 15 degrees so all aspects are within orb.

A Sun-Mars-Saturn conjunction usually indicates a person with a strong work ethic and is very responsible. The person is willing to do the hard work that is necessary to succeed. However, based on the theoretical framework of harmonics and symmetry, the influence of the conjunction is largely determined by the planetary configurations that the conjunct planets are embedded in. Consequently, it is not possible to understand the effect of a conjunction until the harmonic and symmetrical patterns that the conjunct planets participate in.

Farley's Sun, Mars, and Saturn are in 11th harmonic with Neptune and Pluto so the conjunction is very much influenced by these two planets. The impatience and restlessness of the 11th harmonic indicates that Farley has a great need to feel that his life has a real meaning and purpose and strong and clear ideals. Keep in mind that a person does not know the harmonic and symmetrical patterns in the birth chart!

Farley simply feels a need to find a clear and powerful ideal that he can dedicate his life to. It registers in his mind as feeling extremely uncomfortable in a world where greed, avarice, disease, hypocrisy and other "evils" of the world great against his nerves and inspire him to make some changes to heal, to educate, to uplift, to inspire, and to remove the suffering and dysfunctional experiences of people. However, he is unable to bring his own body into a reasonable and healthy state. A large body can be comfortable for a happy, jovial person but Farley is a person with Sun, Mars, and Saturn conjunct and driven by the force of Neptune and Pluto to feel spiritually uplifted, motivated, and to achieve a feeling of accomplishing something of real and lasting value.

As mentioned earlier, the 11th harmonic can incline to insomnia and even overuse of stimulants. One of the drugs that Farley died from was cocaine, which is a stimulant.

• Use of intense stimulants and drugs for people with strong 11th harmonic can accelerate the process of the person's life coming completely unraveled. The person is no longer able to stay in a routine and rhythm that enables the person to function effectively.

From the perspective of the 11th harmonic, Farley's life is especially tragic. He had an extraordinarily high mountain to climb, but at least in theory it would have been possible for him to find the faith, determination, and the discipline to fully dedicate his life to the greater good in a way that is far beyond the level that most people are comfortable with. However, Saturn and Neptune can also promote a level of cynicism and doubt that prevents the light to break through so to speak.

Farley did try several times to overcome his problems. He was not completely irresponsible. I suspect that extraordinarily gifted and dedicated healers, trainers, counselors, therapists, or other professionals or friends could have succeeded in helping Farley break through and to dig deep to find the strength and the vision of a much greater good to help him overcome. In a sense, I do not look at Farley's death at age 33 as just a failure for him for all of us collectively because all of us create a world that we share, and the world we have created failed to assist Farley in successfully meeting his challenges. Some readers may argue that there are no successes or
failures and perhaps at some level this is true; I do not know, but in the more immediate and tangible sense, we do face challenges and we can succeed or fail, and this is why countless movies, sporting events, and other activities that capture our imagination and our heart involve battles between better and worse alternatives.

Fred Astaire has a strong 11th harmonic pattern, which is discussed later in the discussion of the 22nd harmonic because his 22nd harmonic patterns are also strong. Fed Astaire was a dancer, and dance and music are common ways that 11-based harmonics are expressed.

Low Harmonics Versus High Harmonics

When I first started exploring harmonic astrology in the early 1970s, I was included to expect that higher harmonics would be weaker in their effect than the lower harmonics. I imagined that the power of harmonics might be analogous to a pyramid, with the lower harmonics at the bottom of the period and the high harmonics at the top of the pyramid. In other words, the first harmonic (conjunction) might be the strongest influence in our lives and as we move up to higher and higher harmonics, the effect may become more and more subtle until it disappears from our ability to detect it. This assumption proved to be incorrect, or, more accurately stated, this assumption did not correspond with what I observed in the charts of clients.

The effect of harmonics seems to be more similar to the effect that sound has, which is not surprising in retrospect because of much of harmonic astrology seems to have parallels to how sound waves affect us. A sound wave with a very low pitch is not detectable by humans. As the pitch increases, the sound wave becomes audible and there is a spectrum of many octaves where the sound is clearly audible and pleasant, such as, for example, a deep bass sound in music to a high falsetto voice. Above this level, the sounds tend to be shrill and unpleasant and then become inaudible to humans. Note, however, that different animals can detect different ranges of sounds. Whales, for example, can hear sounds both below what humans can hear, and above what we can hear. There may be harmonics which affect us more consciously and others that affect us in more unconscious ways, some which have a more physical influence and others which are more emotional or mental. We can speculate on these matters, but ultimately research will reveal how the various harmonics affect us.

I visualize the power of various harmonics as being more pear-shaped than the pyramid which I guessed might be an appropriate model before I delved deeply into studying charts of thousands of clients. The first 2 harmonics (conjunctions and oppositions) have a general, pervasive, and non-specific meaning. Harmonics 3 and 4 (trines and squares) are definitive in their effects but more external, harmonics 5 through about 12 have an influence that affects a person both externally and internally, and at around the 16th harmonic the influence becomes more internal and not as visible externally. Harmonics are clearly effective (analogous to audible with sound) through the 180 harmonic at least, and I believe that some, if not all, harmonics between 180 and 360 have a significant effect on people. In general, I have not attempted to work with harmonics above 360 and I am doubtful that they are important.


In addition to these rules, there are also some harmonics that are more important than others. For example, the 64th harmonic is much more important than the 56th harmonic, and the 65th, the 56th harmonic is more important than the 65th harmonic, and the 65th harmonic is more important than the 61st harmonic. The 64th harmonic, in fact, in many ways is much more important than the 3rd harmonic (trine)!.  The 64th harmonic is an an octave harmonic and is part of the fundamental motivation and drive of the person. The 56th harmonic is an 8th harmonic aspect in the 7th harmonic chart (56 = 7 times 8) so it is a hard aspect, or octave, or a relatively low and fundamental harmonic (the 7th) and thus it is important, but not as important as the 64th harmonic. The 65th harmonic factors to 13 times 5, so it is a 5th harmonic aspect in a 13th harmonic chart which is fairly subtle while the 61st harmonic cannot be factored into more fundamental harmonics because 61 is a prime number. Prime number harmonics above 32 may be relatively unimportant, but only future research will verify this. The reason why the 56th harmonic is important because the major aspects in the 7th harmonic chart will form a key component of our basic astrological analysis, so therefore 56th harmonic aspects are included in the astrological analysis of the birth chart, but the 65th harmonic aspects are likely to go unnoticed, and the 61st harmonic aspects will definitely go unnoticed.

I noticed that I have Sun and Trans-Neptunian Dwarf Planet candidate Gonggong conjunct in 32nd Harmonic with only 1 minute of arc.

They're not in conjunction in the regular chart, and so they must be in an exact 32nd Harmonic Aspect.
32nd Harmonic aspects are 11°15 series of aspects. 
It turns out that I have an exact Sun 9/32 Gonggong.
9/32 aspect has an angle of 101°15.

Why I think Minor Aspects are Important


I am well aware that a lot of people dismiss the minor aspects which are based on harmonics other than the 1st(conjunction),2nd(oppositio­n,3rd(trine),4th(square),6th(s­extile),and 12th(semisextile,quincunx) to be unimportant and that you can get all the information with just seeing the major aspects which are aspects that you can easily see because they are whole sign aspects. I don't agree with that at all. I feel that if we overlook the minor aspects, we will miss fine details. It would be like looking at a letter and not seeing the fine print. Some even say that it's the little mistakes that can end up biting you in the butt. One little fray in rope can get worse over a time and it can wear down and the rope can snap in two. That is same with erosion. One little rusted spot on metallic part of an airplane can lead to greater damage. Maybe I am looking at this in a Virgoan type away because I am looking at the trees. However, I am also looking at this in a Piscean type because I am looking at the forest too. I believe that we can miss the big picture if we overlook the minor aspects...especially if they form aspect patterns or harmonic syndromes which is when planets of the same harmonic aspect each other to form a pattern. For example: A grand trine consists of 3 planets in trine to each other. A t-square is a 4th harmonic syndrome which consists of 2 planets in opposition(2/4)with a planet in square(1/4) to that opposition. A yod is a 12th harmonic syndrome which consists of 2 planets in sextile(2/12)with a planet quincunx(5/12) to that sextile. These form geometrical patterns that tend to be a dominant factor in the chart.

Subtle doesn't mean unimportant. Astronomers say that planets have too extremely subtle influences to affect us, but they they have vibrational energy. The planets do affect us regardless of how far they away they are from us

It makes me think of cancer. Cancer is subtle, but it destroys cells in our body that can lead to destruction of tissue, organs, and organ system, and body parts.

We have chromosomes, genes, SNPs (Single-nucleotide polymorphisms), and cells that we can't see. They are very subtle ,but they are so important. The way I see harmonics is like our chromosomes, genes, SNPs, and cells. Just like all those chromosomes, genes, and SNPs combined make up the human body, all the harmonics combined can make up the chart.

Chromosomes, genes, and SNPs are linked to various disorders, conditions, and personality characteristic traits. I believe that hits on the harmonics can be linked to specific personality stuff. Therefore I see our natal charts like celestial DNA.

Our DNA can be altered very subtly through our environment and interactions with others as their energy fuses with ours reflected by synastry which is biological interaction aka chemistry. It's possible some people can be bad for our health. Maybe their energy can have an adverse effect on our energy. Maybe their presence cause disturbance in our biochemical makeup. Maybe their own conscious and unconscious thoughts can cause disturbance in our biochemical makeup if we are actually transceivers(both transmit and receive).

Maybe the harmonics in astrology can equate to the actual genes in our body. That's a whole bunch for that matter. Definitely every chromosome, gene, SNP is important. One defect can cause problems but they might be hard to detect. I believe in astrogenetics. I believe that maybe the key to looking at family heredity is through the harmonics.

People say that just looking at the basic stuff in the chart is the whole picture. I equate that to just examining the person by looking at their body parts and seeing how they move and interact with each other, but the body parts aren't the whole entire person. There is the inside of the human body that contain systems which are responsible for certain functions in our body. These organ systems consists of organs which consist of tissues which consist of cells. It is these things that help determine how the body functions. It's not just how the body is formed. We definitely can't tell most diseases from looking at the body. We look at the blood and look at the cells in the blood.

Energy particles are just as complex. Molecules are small particles that make up all living and nonliving things. We have more molecules in our body than our universe has stars. Molecules consist of atoms which consist of protons(positively charged particles)and electrons(negatively charged particles). The electrons and protons make me think of yin and yang which can be in many forms like Moon(yin) and Sun(yang), female(yin)and male(yang),negative integers(yin)and positive integers(yang), water, earth signs(yin)and fire, airsigns(yang),and so on. Yin and Yang energies complement each other even though they are opposing but when together, they become a whole like the northern hemisphere(yin) and southern hemisphere(yang) combine to make up the earth.

You definitely can't underestimate the little stuff. The splitting of the atom led to atomic fusion which made atomic bombs possible. Albert Einstein proved mathematically that atoms exist (in his Brownian motion paper) with the formula, E=mc² in which E = Energy, m = Mass, and c = The speed of light (a physical constant). In the 30's, Einstein wrote to President Roosevelt about the possibility of producing a weapon of mass destruction based on this equation.

When I see how powerful nuclear energy is and that it results from tiny energy particles, it makes me wonder if overlooking the tiniest things in a chart is a good idea. Pluto, planet that is said to rule nuclear power, is the smallest planet in our solar system. It is incredibly powerful planet despite its size with it being much smaller than our Earth's Moon. The effects of Pluto can be transforming to the point of devastating. Pluto has proven to be an underdog now with its demotion from planet to minor planet. I think that the so-called minor harmonic aspects are underdog aspects that actually raise some loud noise in spite of its subtle nature just like little Pluto, nuclear energy, and cancer. I believe that Albert Einstein's 9 minutes of arc Mercury septile (7th harmonic: mystical or a "beclouding effect,) Pluto helped him into unlocking the mysteries of the universe. It's very interesting that his Mercury was in a subtle aspect to the most subtle planet, and he understood one of the most subtle energy particles.

I totally agree with your view about the mainstream astrological community not becoming actively interested in Harmonic Astrology.   The mainstream astrological community is not even actively interested in the 21st Century view of the solar system.  They're some of the reasons why I am not part of the mainstream astrological community and gravitate towards astrologers that aren't of the mainstream like Philip Sedgwick, David Cochrane, and Michael Erlewine.

First, what is a harmonic?

“Harmonic” is a term that was first used in physics and in music. It has been defined as follows: “A harmonic is a signal or wave whose frequency is an integral (whole-number) multiple of the frequency of some reference signal or wave.” Thus, “for a signal whose fundamental frequency is f, the second harmonic has a frequency of 2f, the third harmonic has a frequency of 3f, and so on … A signal can, in theory, have infinitely many harmonics”8.



In physics and in music, the “reference signal or wave” (the first harmonic) can be of any length. But in astrology we are always talking about the harmonics of a circle. Therefore, in astrology, the first harmonic always has a length of 360 degrees (the whole circle), the second harmonic has a length of 360 ÷ 2 = 180 degrees, and so on. So the second harmonic refers to a signal that occurs (or a wave that peaks) at two points around the circle.



John Addey makes it clear that the concept of harmonics can be applied to all of the circles with which astrologers are concerned: the circle of the Zodiac, the diurnal circle (the circle of the houses), and the aspectual circle (the circle of interplanetary aspects, starting from the conjunction and moving round to the opposition and back to the conjunction again). However, the advances that have been made in the interpretation of harmonics have been almost entirely in relation to the aspectual circle, and so it is with the aspectual circle that this article will be concerned.



If we look at the aspects that are traditionally used in astrology, we can see at once that we are already dealing with harmonics. Thus:



The conjunction is the aspect of the 1st harmonic.

The opposition is the aspect of the 2nd harmonic (i.e., if two planets are opposite to each other, they come together in the 2nd harmonic).

The trine is the aspect of the 3rd harmonic.

The square is the aspect of the 4th harmonic.

The sextile is the aspect of the 6th harmonic.

The semi-square and sesquiquadrate are aspects of the 8th harmonic.

The semi-sextile and quincunx are aspects of the 12th harmonic.



Looking at this list, we can see that certain numbers are missing. What about aspects in the 5th, 7th, 9th, 10th and 11th harmonics? Might not these harmonics also have astrological significance? And what about numbers higher than 12?



Thus, the study of harmonics is essentially about the study of interplanetary aspects that are not used in traditional astrology. In my own work I have studied all the harmonics up to the 32nd, and David Cochrane has also independently chosen to stop at the 32nd harmonic. Thus, there is now a large amount of information about the significance of all of the first 32 harmonics. Of course, far more work needs to be done before we understand them fully. But I believe that we now understand these harmonics well enough to be able to use them in the interpretation of charts, and to obtain valuable new insights from them.



Before we look at some of these insights, I need to set out the three basic principles of harmonic astrology.

The first principle of harmonic astrology is that each prime number introduces a new quality. I call these qualities Twoness, Threeness, and so on. (Twoness is the quality of being Two, just as Oneness is the quality of being One.) As astrologers, we already know about the qualities of Twoness and Threeness. Twoness (the quality of the “hard” aspects) signifies effort and struggle, whereas Threeness (the quality of the “soft” aspects) signifies ease and pleasure. But what are the qualities of the higher prime numbers?

As a result of my investigation into more than a thousand charts, I have reached the following conclusions about the qualities associated with each of the higher prime numbers. (These keywords are of course provisional, and are subject to amendment in the light of further research.)



Fiveness is about building and re-shaping (conscious creativity).

Sevenness is about inspiration and intuition.

Elevenness is about defiance and dogged persistence.

Thirteenness is about adventurousness (testing one’s limits, the search for one’s identity);

Seventeenness is about rebelliousness, subversiveness, campaigning for change.

Nineteenness is about humility, empathy, acceptance of one’s lot.

Twenty-threeness is about inventiveness and story-telling.

Twenty-nineness is is about pride in ones uniqueness.

Thirty-oneness is about openness to unconscious desires.



There are also numbers (4, 8, 16, 32; 9, 27; 25) which are higher powers of prime numbers, and signify the qualities of that prime number but maybe in a more refined form. And finally there are composite numbers, which combine the qualities of more than one prime number. Thus, 15 is a combination of Threeness and Fiveness, and signifies pleasure in creativity, and 22 is a combination of Twoness and Elevenness, and signifies effort towards defiance.

The second principle of harmonic astrology is that, the closer an aspect is to exactitude, the stronger it will be. Astrologers usually allow an orb of 8 degrees for the major aspects, and they may not pay much attention to the closeness of the aspect. But in harmonic astrology we are saying that a signal occurs at the point where the aspect becomes exact, and the strongest aspects are those that are closest to this point.

The third principle of harmonic astrology is that the orb allowed for any harmonic is the orb for the conjunction, divided by the number of the harmonic. Thus, for example, if we allow a maximum orb of 12 degrees (720 minutes) for the conjunction, the maximum orb for the 13th harmonic is 720 ÷ 13 = 55 minutes.

In regards to the subject matter of this thread, The 11th Harmonic Aspects

According to David Hamblin,

Objects in 11th Harmonic aspect to each other would be in a connection that involves defiance and dogged persistence.  
I can imagine that people with luminaries, personal planets in aspect to objects that are associated with being unconventional, nonconformist  in 11th Harmonic Harmonic aspect patterns could have a strongly defiant subpersonality.  
I can see this in my case with my 11th Harmonic Irregular Pentagon of Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, and Sedna.

Also I wanted to add, that probably the midpoint picture Moon = Saturn/Neptune has some characteristics that are similiar, but that we have to look a little deeper or beyond that, and I just think that it probably makes a difference if it comes from the 4th harmonic or let`s say the 3rd harmonic, this might modify the expression and experience quite a bit. Though this is just a hypothesis I have. 

I myself am a bad guinea pig for that, I think I haven`t too many symmetrical harmonic triangles really, or those that I have, I am not sure from which harmonic they come. 

Well Uranus opposes Moon/Saturn, with Moon and saturn being quinkunx by 8 minutes, but what is a 105° aspect? I think it is part of the 24th harmonic, but not sure, and especially not sure how to apply that to any interpreation. However a quinkunx that is having a planet at its midpoint, of course always will have two of those 75° aspects (for the closer midpoint) or two of those 105° aspects for the wider midpoint), so there must be some "relationship" between the quinkunx and those aspects, what that could be, no clue.

I first learned about the names Squile for the 75° 5/24, Squine for the 105° 7/24, and Johndro for the 165° 11/24 from read about Zane Stein's descriptions of them over 13 years ago.

Of course, I proposed the term Viginquartile for the 24th harmonic series of aspects.

Squile is in between a Sextile and Square. Squine is between Square and Trine.



24 is a multiple of 1, 2,3,4,6,12,24

That's why Opposition, Trine, Square, Sextile, Semisquare, Sesquiquadrate, Semisextile, Quincunx can form 24th Harmonic aspect patterns with the minor 24th harmonic aspects.

24th Harmonic aspect will appear as 12th Harmonic aspect (Semisextile, Quincunx) in 2nd Harmonic Chart, 8th Harmonic aspect (Semisquare, Sesquiquadrate) in 3rd Harmonic Chart, 6th Harmonic aspect (Sextile) in 4th Harmonic Chart, 4th Harmonic aspect (Square) in 6th Harmonic Chart, 2nd Harmonic aspect (Opposition) in 12th Harmonic Chart, and 1st Harmonic aspect (Conjunction) in 24th Harmonic Chart.



The harmonic proportionate orb for 24th Harmonic aspects is 38 minutes based on 15 degree orb for Conjunction.

Harmonic 24: The meaning of the 24th harmonic aspects is strongly influenced by the numerator, so, for example, the 5/24 aspect is more subtle and creative than the 11/24 aspect.

The 11/24 aspect is is intensely motivating. The 7/24 aspect is a bit constrained, introverted, and focused. Overall, the 24th harmonic aspects indicate resources available to the person;

they represent characteristics and qualities that can be used to achieve goals, although the 11/24 aspect does make some pressing demands of the person more than other 24th harmonic aspects.

From his research, Munkassey became convinced that the 24th harmonic is extremely important. This observation agrees completely with what we would expect because the 24th harmonic is a basic and fundamental harmonic. Munkasey felt that the 24th harmonic is so important that it needed a name and he refers to it as the quindecile. He emphasized that the quindecile refers to 4 aspects, the 1/24 (15 degrees), 5/24 (75 degrees), 7/24 (105 degrees), and 11/24 (165 degrees) aspects. Other 24th harmonic aspects reduce down to a smaller fraction so therefore can have some of the qualities of the 24th harmonic, but these 4 aspects are the ones that fully express the 24th harmonic qualities.

Munkassey's research on the 24th harmonic began in the late 1970's. In about the early 1990's astrologer Noel Tyl began working with the quindecile and in particular the 5/24 aspect. Tyl became convinced that the 5/24 aspect is extremely important and needs to be added to the astrologer's basic "tool kit" along with the other major aspects. Ricki Reeves tried out Tyl's suggestion and also became convinced that the 105 degree aspect is critically important and unfortunately overlooked by most astrologers. Reeves did more research on the 5/24 aspect, and wrote a book about this aspect.

The finding of Munkassey, Tyl, and Reeves that the 24th harmonic is vitally important is in complete agreement with what I would expect. Munkassey employs harmonics extensively in his work, and he insists that it is not only the 105 degree aspect that is vitally important but also the other 3 24th harmonic aspects: 15 degrees, 75 degrees, and 165 degrees. Meanwhile, the term "quindecile" now has 2 different meanings, sometimes referring to the 24th harmonic and sometimes to only the 5/24 aspect.





The planetary investigations done by John Nelson are very interesting.

While working for RCA Communications, John Henry Nelson became a heliocentric pioneer. Nelson discovered the correspondence between certain heliocentric aspects and the quality of shortwave radio communications. Mr. Nelson's methods, the specific aspects he used in his forecasts as well as the system he developed to evaluate the effect of various aspects on radio propagation quality (ak.a. radio weather) can guide today's heliocentric astrologers toward developing more precise methods of studying heliocentric aspects and determining their association with things other than radio weather.

Nelson had to make four forecasts every day--120 a month--for RCA. Once he discovered the importance of heliocentric aspects, his rate of accuracy for a given month often reached 90 percent or better. Although he found some correlation between geocentric planetary aspects and radio weather, it was the heliocentric aspects that allowed him to make such consistently accurate predictions of radio weather.

In determining which aspects were most important, he found two small angles and their multiples to be significant: 7.5 and 18 degrees. All of the primary aspects used by astrologers are multiples of one or both of these two numbers, as you can see from these lists: Multiplies of 7.5 degrees include 15, 22.5, 30, 37.5, 45, 52.5. 60, 67.5, 75, 82.5. 90 . . . 120. . . 150 . - . 180, etc., up to 360 degrees. Multiples of 18 include 36, 54, 72, 90, 108, 126, 144, 162 . . . 180, etc., up to 360 degrees.

Nelson found the strongest aspects to be those long familiar to astrologers--the conjunction, opposition, trine and square, derived from dividing 360 degrees by 1, 2. 3, and 4. Of almost equal strength, and of a generally benign nature, were the sextile, semisextile and inconjunct. He found that other multiples of 7.5 and 18 degrees could offer support and confirmation for the major. aspects, but alone could not predict either good or poor radio weather.

In 1967 Nelson discovered the 11.25 degree series of some value, but found it provided only a minor improvement in the accuracy of his forecasts. He used very tight orbs when considering the aspects of the primary and secondary harmonics--just a tenth of a degree. This would, of course, be necessary when working with so many aspects and when making predictions for four 6-hour time periods every day.

His basic interpretation of the primary aspects coincides with what we know of them, Nelson found the trine to be associated with the best radio weather--a quiet, undisturbed atmosphere which meant good clear signals. The positive effect of the trine was so strong that it would often nullify a combination of negative hard aspects. Nelson did not distinguish between waxing and waning aspects. A waxing trine or square was given the same weight as a waning trine or square.

He also found that good radio signals without any disturbance could occur on days when the only helio aspects within close orb were a semisextile or quincunx. If no hard aspect were in orb that day to interfere with the quiet weather, these aspects were as favorable as the trine.

In keeping with traditional astrological lore, Nelson found that the hard aspects were bad for radio weather. It is important to note that it made no difference to his forecast whether two planets formed a conjunction, square or opposition. All three aspects were found to have a disturbing effect on shortwave radio communications. However, he found poor radio signals were associated with two, three or four hard aspects within orb on a given day, and even then a trine might negate the impact of the hard aspects or delay their negative effect until the trine was no longer in close orb.

It seems that my Moon-Uranus would be out of orb then (0°44); the orb for the midpoint is 0°40, so within orb (at least according to Cochrane, though perhaps not a very strong orb). 

I also have Mercury in 1/24 to Neptune (0°06), while Sun is out of orb (0°59), though I still find it interesting. I suppose the Mercury-Neptune-connection makes sense to me. 



Sun is 5/24 to Jupiter (0°16) - an aspect that was considered very influential in the Transpersonal school of astrology in Germany (though I think Michael Roscher called it a Bilin, and the 165° aspect Tao, no clue why really)

Pluto is out of orb to form 24th harmonic aspects to either Sun or Mercury, and just widely quinkunx Jupiter (though this might be out of orb as well using vibrational astrology and orbs, as it is 2°08); however Sun is conjunct Jupiter/Pluto (0°47) and Mercury is conjunct Jupiter/Pluto (0°05).

So - all 5 of these bodies are connected in my 11H chart, but none are conjunct. ... Thus, in the natal chart, none of them are in an 11th harmonic aspect/relationship with each other - but all are in composite harmonic aspects/relationships that incorporate the 11H.

If this 5-planet-picture was in a natal chart, interpreting and synthesising it would be a fairly straightforward task. ... Here though, it has to be interpreted specifically in the context of the 11H behavioural trait - as it is not a planetary picture/pattern that will appear in any other harmonic chart derivative of my Natal Chart.

If your Sun, Moon, and Saturn are in T-Square with all orbs within 3 degrees, 45 minutes which is Harmonic Proportionate orb for 4th Harmonic Aspects based on the orb of 15 degrees for the conjunction, then you have Sun, Moon, Saturn in conjunction in the 44th Harmonic.  They should be in 44th Harmonic Triangle in the regular chart.

My Sun and Jupiter are in Undecile with an orb of 12 minutes, and that's well within the orb of 1 degree, 22 minutes.
It's not only a strong Undecile, but it is also of higher octave-11 harmonics 

It forms a 22nd Harmonic Triangle with Venus, and that's why I have Venus conjunct Sun/Jupiter midpoint with an orb of only 1 minute.
The orbs of the aspects are so small that they are also a 44th Harmonic Triangle.
They are also a 66th Harmonic Triangle. In 33rd Harmonic Chart, Sun-Jupiter conjunction is in opposition to Venus.
