Hi everyone, I was talking about this with vg , FruityLlama , and lumina on this other thread: astrogarden.proboards.com/thread/495/basic-astrology?page=3This is a general thread for making observations about the moon in the SR, posting articles & questions, etc. Comprehensive article to start with: cafeastrology.com/solarreturnmoon.html=== I believe I had never gone through every SR of my life before, seeing patterns....but once I did, certain themes became apparent. If I track my life from age 1 (first SR) to 46 (two years from now), I think certain things stand out: 1) My SR moon was or will be angular 12 times, so more than one quarter of my SRs have this feature. (Which begs the question -- why?) 2) The SR moon is most frequently in Taurus or Libra so far, 6x each. Half those times, the Taurus moon was angular, and twice, the Libra moon was angular. 3) Another repeating theme is moon conjunct Saturn, which has happened 6 times, five of which occurred after I got married and started having children, four times in years when I got pregnant, had a baby, or expected a baby (one miscarriage). 4) Moon was conjunct NN only twice, both in years where my parents' health began failing. So that's that. There are some other things, like the moon seems to fall on house cusps more often than I expected. I don't know what other people might find; maybe this is just totally random, maybe my rectified chart isn't even correct. But I wonder if my natal nodal axis and draconic chart are evident here somehow...it would be cool if that were part of the design. My south node is in Taurus and my SR moons are often in Taurus. My draconic moon is in Cancer, conjunct tropical Saturn, and moon-Saturn is a theme. No idea about SR moon conjunct angle though. Pls don't quote

As for the angular moon...from link above:
"Although the Moon is relatively passive in absolute terms, it represents how we react to the stimuli around us. These responses are extremely critical. For example, when the Moon is angular, also called the “foreground” (conjunct an angle and/or in the first, fourth, seventh, or tenth house), the native’s responses to the events of the year are rather naive, instinctual, and automatic. Because the native is very close to any situation he or she confronts, it is hard to get a good perspective. Impulsive and emotional reactions are most common. The native is left very open to outside influences."
So, every other year in my first decade of life, the moon was angular, so of course I was naive and all that.
Other years:
'89: 24 Sag moon exactly conjunct Venus on the 22 Sag IC. I don't know, I had a really immense crush on my classmate (the one who found the diary I wrote about how much I loved him.) '93: 13 Gem moon conjunct 10 Gem MC...I remember being reserved this year (pr moon in Scorpio) but maybe this applies to my public art (for one thing I was basically called down to the office and commanded to illustrate the literary magazine when the main artist pulled out all her work.) '97: Moon conjunct IC @ 2-3 Sag. Full moon squared that and changed my life direction. '01: Moon-Saturn @ 23 Taurus conjunct MC @ 24. Parents'-in-law's estate auction, very public. '05: 14 Scorpio moon conjunct 13 Scorpio IC. Motherhood became difficult at this point, with three small children. I guess that was transformative. '09: 4 Taurus moon conjunct 0 Taurus MC. Not sure, but again this might apply to art. Teaching at the community center. '13: 25 Libra moon on natal IC, widely conjunct SR IC at 19 Libra. Pressure to start thinking about leaving the country house, actually under siege that year by polluters and didn't want to exit the home.
Still not completely seeing how this all works.
Pls don't quote

Very interesting thread.
For now Just want to mention i read that the Solar moon is cyclic. IT will move an approximate trine every following year. So will Most of the Times be in the Same element for three years and Switch Elements in the fourth year. IT is Just a Guideline though As there can BE Changes to that If moon is late or early in sign.
Also IT seems to Return to the Natal sign approximately every 19 years, Like the nodal cycle. IT was true for me, when i Turner 38, SR moon was 5 degree Off my Natal one.
Interestingly next year SR moon will BE in Aqua again, but far Off the Natal degrees.
Also technically i am in the earth moon cycle, but my moon kinda avoided Taurus and capricorn by ending Up end Aries one year and beginbof Aqua 😅

Thanks so much for this thread Ava ! I've been itching to do look at this all day- read this this morning at work hehe. Year | Moon sign | House | Conjunct | Event | 1998 | Gem
| 4
| IC
| Sister born
| 2004 | Leo | 12 | N/A | Moved town | 2006 | Tau | 4 | IC | Start highschool | 2011 | Pis | 11 | N/A | End highschool | 2012 | Can | 12 | N/A | Higher Ed | 2014 | Tau | 4 | IC | Start BSc | 2015 | Vir | 5 | N/A | Met S.O | 2017 | Gem | 8 | Mars | Start MSc | 2018 | Lib | 10 | MC | Clinical training | 2019 | Pis | 12 | N/A | First job, learnt to drive, moved in with S.O
| 2020 | Can | 12 | N/A | ... |
I've still got a few years to look at but I thought I'd better start with the most interesting years. I have looked at a few others too and I feel like I'm seeing quite a few instances of a 12th house moon too at quite pivotal moments in my life. IC conjunctions clearly come up as well for events relating to education and family (foundational growth I suppose). This year (as of tomorrow), the moon is once again in the 12th...wonder what it will bring!

Interestingly, in my mothers SR for '94 when she was pregnant with me, the SR moon is conjunct the 5th house ruler in the 8th. It's at 4 Scorp too, exactly opposite my natal moon...! I checked her SR for '97 too so the year surrounding my sisters birth...again...SR 5th house in Aries..*Mars conjunct Moon*, this time the in 1st house! Weird.. When she got married, again, 5th house ruler is conjunct the SR moon, and this time both planets in the 5th. lumina I noticed that wrt SR moon cycling between the same element, although mine also sometimes skips as well. My moon starts taking notice of or is the 5H ruler in the next 3yrs, but only around 2024/5 does it start doing the same things my mother's did and actually conjunct 5H ruler.

I definitely wouldn't have picked this up myself as my first three SRs feature the moon @ 24 Cancer, 7 Sag, 1 Taurus. However, 1 Taurus begins the trine series: 1 Taurus, 7 Virgo, 14 Cap, 28 Taurus...and then we move into air. I was 18 when the SR moon returned to Pisces the first time, 38 the second time. In both cases the NN was in my home sign of Scorpio.

Happy Birthday FruityLlama! Thank you for that handy table up there. "IC conjunctions clearly come up as well for events relating to education and family (foundational growth I suppose)." Hmm! I started school altogether with SR moon @ 14 Cap conjunct IC @ 11 Cap, both conjunct my sun. I started high school with SR moon conjunct IC in Sag. College began with SR moon @ 3 Scorpio trine IC @ 5 Pisces. 'Haven't paid attention to SR 5H or its rulers, relative to having children...not lately anyway. Your findings with your mother make me wonder now. Still need to do more research.

I generally avoid looking at solar returns too closely.. However, this thread prompted me to look at some moon signatures for the last few years. I'm amazed at how many close conjunctions there are and how the condition of the moon reflects the emotional tone for the year. Moon conjunct Uranus square Pluto was brutal, like my own natal configuration was highlighted. When there was Moon-Jupiter trine Uranus, square Saturn, I had made my peace with the situation and was, to my surprise, finding ways to grow. Normally, the Saturn square would worry me; but paired with those other nice aspects, it just gave structure to my life (that I sorely needed). Moon-Asc in Sag square MC showed up in a year when some major changes started brewing - all to do with Sag issues.

IT is Just a Guideline though As there can BE Changes to that If moon is late or early in sign. Yeah, I sort of noticed that. One of mine was at an anaretic degree, so it skipped the 3rd sign of two elements.. Still, pretty cool!

Hmm, just looking up the very first Solar Return I ever had, after being one year old. Moon on 24 Gemini (Mars 21 Gem) in 3rd house opposing Sun on 25 Sag. I basically started my Solar REturns with a fullmoon. lol (well the very first Solar Return would have been my natal chart of course. and with Venus on 13 Scorpio. (just pointing that out cause it seems that SR Venus likes some years to be around there)

Makes Sense dir people s Solar Returns being difficult this year. After all WE are all experiencing a serious Situation. Well Most SR will have the Saturn Pluto conjunction, many will have IT angular or in aspecting Personal planets.

Normally, the Saturn square would worry me; but paired with those other nice aspects, it just gave structure to my life (that I sorely needed). This sounds great. I had SR Sag moon widely conjunct Jupiter in 2008; the kicker is that Pluto was wedged between them, with moon-Pluto-Jupiter all in the SR 8th house, opposing Mars. I've often referred back to my postpartum depression then as the darkest period of my life, compounded by all the political reading I was doing. Fortunately this only lasted a few weeks. And I guess I rather would have learned what I learned even if it cost me a lot, emotionally. Mercury was on the MC in Cap that year.

2008 was the year that I first met (talked with) P. Just some short crossings. It was a great year though, well of course there were some minor health ailments (relating to the eyes), and I was behaving stupid at some point, but other than that, a great year, crossroad year. Certainly. Chose to do what I wanted to do, even if it meant having to do it alone, and to the risk of others not understanding or criticising or laughing about me. So the age of the short trips started! LOL And open air musicals! and other musical plays! And falling in love with that magical little village 3 hours by train from here. Though even the first time I stepped out of the train on that soil, it felt like I was coming back rather than coming to a new place! And even though it had been raining when I arrived, just when I got out, the sun came through. And that has been like this every time I was going back there. I arrive with cloudy or rainy sky, and when I actually get out there, the sun is shining. lol (of course once I am there and preparing to leave, the sky will open its gates again or monumental storms will happen. lol) But well apart from my strange love for this place. lol, this year was definitely a destiny-year, in the sense that it determined a lot about the direction I was about to go, and bringing a lot of changes, definitely internal ones. though of course the following year I had decided to drop my foolishness and behave like a grown up again. lol Didn`t quite work out like I had planned, the grown up thing, but I had weird ideas about grown ups at that time anyway, mostly that it is about selfdenial I guess. lol Nevertheless the changes, implanted the year before, couldn`t be undone, or put back or stopped, though I did my best to delay any kind of development. LOL I guess having a natal fixed Moon squaring Mercury/Pluto-mp with just 3 minutes of orb, can make a person extremely stubborn and mentally fixated. This was the Solar Return chart itself And my natal with the SR in the outer ring.

Interesting lumina ...I love that perfect angle-to-angle alignment, with SR moon on natal IC, and that intense cluster on your sun. Tr Jupiter hit your Venus that year, did it also reach P's? I need to live to 2026 to see what this means:

So in 6 years fein nie youll start a very oassionate and romantic and deep Relationship with the Love of your Life. And considering the ASC....... 😂 I don't know why I'm laughing. It's actually sad. Transiting draconic Venus is @ 19 Pisces conjunct tropical Neptune at @20 Pisces today, so I guess I had to have a "moment."

Here is mine. School/uni things involved SR 9th house. Hospital stays involved 12th/6th house. There were couple breakups as well but i will look at those maybe later.
1983/84: Moon 29 Gemini 9th house I was born
1987/88: Moon in Sag 20 deg conjunct uranus. It was also on my SN. SR Chiron 28 deg gemini was in SR 9th house and conjunct my natal moon which is in my natal 9th. I started primary school that year.
1990/91: Moon 27 deg Cap in 6th house opposite SR chiron 26 deg in the 12th. They created a grand cross with my natal ASC and DSC. I spent a week in hospital that SR year.
1991/92 ; Mother died that SR year so not mentioning any placements
1994/95: moon 16 deg cancer in 12th. I finished primary school and started highschool at the end of that year. My birthday is late september so the academic year will have not long started when this SR ended . My primary school was quiet small and secondary school was alot bigger so was an adjustment. 1995/96: moon 4 deg Sag in the 3rd. Was conjuncting my natal uranus/jupiter(natal 2nd) and opposite natal chiron(natal 8th). Was finding it hard to settle into my first year at high school, suffered death anxiety and had my first trip abroad which was a school trip. I was very homesick.
1999/2000: Moon in taurus at 26 deg in 9th house. Was conjunct my natal vertex in natal 8th house. Did my secondary school exams.
2001/02: Moon 23 aquarius conjunct uranus conjunct ASC. It overlapped my natal 4th. I did my A level exams and the started university at the end of that SR year. Moved away from home for the 1st time.
2002/03: moon 26 deg gemini conj saturn in 12th house. Conjunct natal moon and overlapped my 9th house. Didnt enjoy the subject i was studying and changed it and the end of the year. Lost alot of weight that year, also went out alot more which i wasnt used to.
2005/06: Moon 12 deg leo conjunct saturn 8 deg leo in the 7th opposite neptune. Saturn was also conjunct my natal MC. Moon was overlapping my natal 10th house. Was beginning of me realising that i had some false friend, i was a bit depressed that year as well. I graduated from university.
2006/07: Moon in 6th at 17 deg sag. It was conjunct my natal SN. I started my post graduate studies.
2008/09: moon 24 deg virgo in 10th near 11th house cusp. opposite uranus(by 4 deg). Was square my natal moon. First romantic relationship. It lasted about 8 months. We were very different - food tastes music every thing we were just opposites was never going to last. Nice guy though. 2010/11: moon 7 deg gemini in 12th opposite mars in 6th. Moon Opposed natal uranus/juptier conjunction. Met someone in my home city and we started a relationship, they moved back to their home country and we continued a long distant relatonship
2011/12: Moon 29 deg libra in 3rd conjunct natal pluto and natal asc. Moved abroad for above relationship and started working for the company i am still with.
2015/16: moon conjunct uranus at 19 deg Aries in 9th house overlapping my 6th house. Got internal transfer close to home, so was another country move.
2016/17: moon 5 deg virgo in 10th. Met my current BF and became pregnant towards the end of the SR year. Moon was conjuncting his Natal ASC and a little wide(about 6 deg) conjuncting my natal dsc ruler.
2017/18: Moon at 10 deg Cap in 1st house. Conjuncting my natal pallas in natal 3rd. My son was born this year. SR moon was conjunct his N saturn by about 4 deg and conjunct the father's natal sun/mercury. My sons chart ruler is saturn.
2019/20: 9 deg libra conjunct sun in 3rd house. moon overlaps my natal 12th house. 2nd child on the way and expected to be a leo. Will see!
Pls dnt quote will probably delete it at some point
