Ok so i stepped momentarily over to LL out of curiosity and there was a thread talking about how tarot cards were evil and negative....like it was a portal for bad spirits... Im a bit freaked out also because ive just been watching paranormal witness haha.. What do you guys think? Ive never thought about them like this before although i absolutely cannot stand ouija boards and the like... is there a difference? Ive never had any trouble though so...what the heck?

I believe there's a HUGE difference between oija boards and Tarot! I wouldn't touch a oija board if someone offered me money. Nope nope nope. That's just me, though.
No, I don't think that reading cards is a portal to evil, lol. Unless someone is calling on random or negative entities to assist them, I suppose.
Growing up, I started reading cards in my teens and my family would tell me the same nonsense. I believe that when we read cards, we are simply reaching within ourselves to tap into the Universal knowledge that our spirits possess. Or we are reaching out to the Universe, our Guides, Guardian Angels, to help us gain insight via the cards. I wouldn't worry yourself with it, imo. ❤

I don't believe it, either. I saw that thread. ❤️

Thanks guys, I thought the same thing Violets ! I thought to open a portal thingy you had to at least ask if someone was there hence inviting random or negative spirits. i dont really ask for anyone with tarot, occassionally protection from the angels but I rarely do because I thought that with tarot i am basically asking myself the question!! ❤❤ Love to both

anela do you reckon it was a bit of attention seeking? In my better frame of mind this morning it occurred to me it might be that instead. It was one mighty long post about how they had given up the cards haha...

Some had family members or friends saying they were evil.

I just re-read my response and realized I misspelled "ouija". 😬

Well I couldn't get through Spica's long winded spiel because she was saying so much and so little at the same time? Because of that I still don't quite understand why she quit, but I think it's important to note that her newly found distaste towards tarot is coming from the perspective of a recovering addict. It's understandable why she would demonize tarot because of that. The issue is that she thinks tarot is now this universally, objectively evil thing when they're not, she just happened to have a personal problem with them. It seems she still has some kind of messed up relationship with tarot because she's all over LL's Personal Readings asking for readings for the pettiest stuff. She may not exchange with tarot anymore but she still needs its validation, which is of course problematic (for her).
Then you have the classic fatalistic people in that thread doing their usual fear mongering.. its always best to take what they say with a mack truck full of salt.

Eh... I'm a recovering addict, and I don't view Tarot (or much) in such a black and white fashion, lol. 😬
I have more to add regarding how a person uses them, their reasons for doing so, and their general mindset, but that will require space for me to think clearly, which is at a premium at the moment. 😅

Agreed! Never thought of Tarot being able to tap into weird unless one particularly wants to. Instead, I see it as tapping into the universal spirit and angelic guidance. I find it similar to prayer and meditation as one uses both to tune in.

That's why I ended up only trying readings when I had a clear head, after I'd showered and felt relaxed, etc. I stopped reading when it seemed like I was always getting bad news, and I was so depressed over my life, test I was gong to give my cards away, along with everything else. I didn't feel like my bad luck was due to the cards, though.

I don't believe in these "portals" but I do believe in that there are good and bad spirits around us just like there are good and bad humans around us. I dont believe that tarot invokes bad spirts, for me it is just a tool for reading energies/tapping into ones intuition. Its a tool to interpret energy. The only way I can see it inviting bad spirits is if you are asking the cards something that would involve reading the energy of a bad spirit. Ouija boards is a tool to talk directly to spirits, and you dont know for sure what you are talking to. No money on the planet would make me go near one of those. I dont believe there is anything in tarot, picking the cards it just like when you go to a shop to pick lottery numbers - using your intuition, maybe in a more draining way.
The only bad thing i can see with tarot is the dependencies and addictions. People making decisions based on what tarot says is dangerous - the reader could be having an off day, also giving that power away when you should just trust your own intuition etc...
I read the post your are talking about. One poster made an interesting point, in that not everyone is ready to know everything. Tarot and readings and their usefulness, I have been questioning it recently myself, but not for the reasons of is it evil or not. Pls dnt quote

Youve all made me feel a alot better, so thank you! Ahahahahaha athena "a mack truck full of salt" that made me laugh so much!! I didn't realise she was still on personal readings though...is that after she posted all that?? Violets and athena yes true, I suppose it wasn't sensible of me to take her so seriously when she has those sorts of issues with it. Its the same with anything though, nothing is inherently bad unless you overdo it I guess. I did think, even when I was reading that late at night and just after a particularly horrible episode of paranormal witness (I will freak every time I see a very tall thin man in black now ughh), I thought it seemed a bit fanatic but it also made me worry that I wasn't using my cards properly haha. At least its taught me to properly protect myself, better to be safe than sorry (although ive been alright so far) vg that is a very good distinction between ouija and tarot, you are just basically inviting trouble with those boards whereas tarot is not really asking for anyone is it, just answers to a question. Ahhhh phew!!! Although I do understand how easy it would be to become addicted to tarot...sort of. I like asking the same question again but after a while I feel the messages become a bit diluted and harder to read.
