Has anyone been the recipient of this? Or do you practice? I wanted to learn with mum, years ago, and once read about someone's father, who felt a lot better, whenever he received a reiki treatment (Jen Weigel's dad, who had cancer).
I'm thinking of seeing if I can get a session for my dog, with someone in one of the cities or towns close to us. I'll have to save up a bit, but I'm curious to see if it will help. I would try just relaxing and focusing somehow myself, but I haven't been able to do that for years. I can't sleep - I keep waking up and panicking.

I've been a recipient but in an informal way, as I was friends with someone who was a Reiki Master. I don't know if I trust Reiki itself or just my friend, who is gifted in many of these areas. My experience is so limited. But it definitely worked, something happened, like taking a powerful dose of feel-good medicine.

I've just remembered an old LL friend is a reiki practitioner. She's in Canada, but I might try to save a bit, and ask her if she can do a long-distance session somehow, with a picture or something.

I'm here Good luck with whatever you decide, your dog is lucky to have you there, caring so much. I'm also really curious about the results people have had... I think Reiki is weird but I believe in it. Similar to astrology.

I am thinking of going to the Level 1 workshop in September in my city to be able practise myself. I am scared to be honest.

I've had reiki, and I absolutely believe that it helps, if the person is honestly qualified. I would personally recommend more than one session, but it does feel lovely in my experience. When I'm done, my body often feels tingly and I feel very happy. I can't speak for physical healing properties, but I can't imagine it would hurt.

My friend just completely her level 2 reiki course and has performed reiki on me a few times. Just last weekend she tried long-distance reiki on me, and the result for me was that I was shivering all over for a good 20 minutes. At first I thought it was just the cold weather, but I was under my warm duvet, which normally only takes a few minutes to warm me up, and after she completed it, I warmed up. Other people who she has tried long-distance reiki on have experienced a range of sensations, each one unique, but everyone felt something.
I myself am actually going to be doing the level 1 reiki course next weekend. I'm getting excited by it, but I don't know what to expect at all. My aim is to heal myself and my family as well as close friends. I plan to do level 2 later on this year.

Ooh, I'd forgotten that I asked about this. I never did ask my friend, because I didn't want to impose, but I wonder at times, if anyone who does reiki, has sent it to me before. Or my pets if I was worried about them (or my mum, even). I've had that lovely tingly feeling, and once at LL, back in 2005, I was worried about one of my dogs at the vet. As soon as people found my thread there, in the health section, I had this feeling like little droplets of something soothing, were falling on me. It was the weirdest, nicest feeling. And my dog ended up being okay.
I wanted to take a reiki course with my mum. She bought me a book once, and I've looked at other books, but they only talk about it, and there's nothing about actually doing it.

Yeah I've felt the tingling sensation myself. At first I thought my friend's hands must have lightly brushed my hair, but she then told me that her hands were 4 inches above my head all that time.
With doing the reiki course, I know there are online ones, but it's really better to do it in person and get the attunement done face to face. You get more information face to face and you get to practice on others, and you also lap up more of the energy while you're in the classroom.
Let's just say that, if someone did send reiki to you, you'd have felt it.
