Has anyone seen the film "A plastic ocean"? I just saw it on netflix and it is an eye-opener: the damage being done to ourselves and wildlife - mainly fish and coastal birds - is horrendous. There are two main areas of concern - effect on our health and effect on the environment/animals.
Inevitably, plastic is getting into the food chain in the form of tiny debris - either we are eating plastic by eating fish or eating animals that eat fish. Or poisonous substances from plastic are leeching into our foods. This includes food stored in plastic, or packaged in plastic.
I need to research these questions which relate to our health and will post here as I find out: Are some plastics are better than others? Is clingfilm harmful? Is microwaving food in plastic containers bad for health? Are cans safer than cartons, that is if cartons are plastic coated?

Too sad I watched a documentary about noise pollution in the ocean and that depressed me also. I'd much rather believe some places on earth, like the deep ocean, have escaped the human mess.
