I'm not exactly sure what this is about, which is OK. I'm just letting you know. 👍 I've only recently began studying Vedic astrology. So I'm even more novice than I am in tropical. A personal experience. I've had 4, maybe 5 if I'm forgetting one tropical natal chart readings. All were good and interesting. Recently I had a vedic reading and it utterly blew my mind!! I think we can also put as much emphasis on the astrologer as much as the astrology. It made me a complete believer. He knew, in great detail, things that only I know. Truly incredible.
The other thing I'd like to mention is that I don't believe that we can approach sidereal in the same way that we do tropical. In my opinion when it is approached the same way then that's the beginning of the end. From what I've seen, they really don't mix and match despite looking similar on the surface. Nakshatras, which are star clusters within constellations, are most important, even more than signs. Moon also holding the most importance.

Thanks, whisperix ... I'm just looking this over now. I'm impressed with how much the reading for Sun in Sagittarius actually sounds just like a Capricorn: * Innate sense of elitism, whatever their environment * Stratification is inherent in their sense of order - socially, professionally, politically. Hierarchical. * Excellence. Quality-conscious. * Tremendous pride in doing well what they do. Artistic only in the sense of eager for quality results. * Self-image problems. Don't meet their own standards of excellence. (May think they have to prove themselves.) * Compliment Sagittarius and you will get a sputtered, embarrassed reply; hear it joked away, or have it completely ignored. Denigrates compliments, makes them seem not worth replying to - doesn't think he deserves them. * May not want to believe what you tell him about his horoscope. (Doesn't want to get "busted.") * Sense of humor ironic, or commonplace and prosaic. * HIGHER and HIGHER motif. Ambitious, climbing, striving to achieve. And so on... So they match what they observe on earth with the constellation that's physically overhead. Over time they will have to modify that again and again, as eventually they'll be seeing what they call "Scorpio" acting more and more like what we call Capricorn. Then confusion and revision comes into play. One thing I like about Vedic is, it comes from a whole other worldview...different concepts and areas of focus. That's refreshing. Also, it seems that Vedic astrologers hold themselves to a higher standard overall, possibly a result of cultural pressure, since Indians are more accepting of astrology than Westerners (I assume). It's a more serious profession, so it's no wonder they're more articulate and precise. Basically I think Vedic is overall better than Western, in terms of the intellectual scope of it, but I still think the tropical zodiac makes more sense than sidereal. It's not susceptible to change and confusion the way sidereal is. I know some Vedic astrologers online do use the tropical zodiac, but I forget their names at the moment. I think Sam Geppi is one of them.

Here's the thing, and hopefully I'm not misunderstood as I don't mean to come across harsh in any way. I had a lengthy reading. I'll give you two examples from that. One is: He said that I will have made a lot of mistakes due to my hastiness, stubbornness, and ego. Afterwards I might question what I have done but at the end of the day I think that it is what it is. It's meant to be and I was correct in my actions. Honestly, he's absolutely correct. Things about my health as well. The second thing is: He told me that I should get involved with children. Charity, either materially, my time, teach a child something once a week and things like that. He said that this will satisfy Saturn.
So with all this doom and gloom, there are remedies. It can be changed. It's not a fixed fate. So to me, if you choose to believe one, you must believe both. So it's not so bad, is it? It's kind of a heads up for things to watch out for. Now, even if you choose to believe that it's all a bunch of crap. If it causes me, or anyone to do positive things in this world. It's hard to argue against that. That's a good thing.

I don't mean to sound like anyone should accept it or change. Just giving my perspective by chance that it may not have been thought of or considered. 👍

I am the one that posted in the facebook group.
Even though I use the Sidereal Zodiac, I don't use elements nor planet rulers. The Babylonians came up with the 12 sign zodiac which was originally Sidereal, and they didn't use elements and planet rulers which were originally started by the Hellenistic astrologers.

Hi glaucus, If you care to elaborate, I'm curious about Babylonian astrology. What is special about it?
