Hi all, This is a topic that is rarely touched upon, but that I personally find interesting, since I have two stationary planets in my own personal chart. I scoured the internet for it, but while there's some info, it's far from exhaustive. The thing I did come to learn is that they are considered very powerful placements and can even be powerful enough to act as your chart ruler.
My questions are, do any of you have a planet that is stationary direct or stationary retrograde in your chart? Do you feel that it does have a very strong influence in your life, and do you feel that it has certain characteristics that make it a real stationary Rx or a genuine stationary direct rather than just stationary? Do you also find that you are particularly sensitive to transit changes for that planet as opposed to the other planets?

Sorry I can't answer your questions, I don't have an SD planet. I think it's pretty rare to find in a natal chart. But for what it's worth, Vedic astrologers say that SD is powerful, it's when a planet is "exerting full force." This woman talks about it:
She gives an analysis for each SD planet.
Sam Geppi, another YouTube Vedic astrologer, talks about the strength of SD planets as well, in his Retrograde Planets video.
Another YouTube astrologer mentioned that SD is quite significant in progressed charts, and that only makes sense. I know that the years when my progressed Mercury went Rx and then direct again were pretty significant.
My Saturn has never been direct; my progressed Saturn won't go SD until I'm in my early 70's.

Thanks Faith! I have Mercury and Saturn stationary direct. Listening to this woman's description of Mercury stationary does mostly seem to fit me, except for the teaching part. I have never been drawn to teaching as I just don't have the patience.
As for the Saturn stationary description, well, she states that those with this placement were like little old people as kids, but I would say that I didn't emulate Saturn stationary characteristics when I was a kid. Actually I was pretty much the exact opposite. I was very childlike, immature and undisciplined, and I sometimes was even made to feel ashamed for still liking some toys or shows when I should have already outgrown them. Maybe it's because I have a huge Mercury influence. I have, however, found that I began growing into Saturn stationary in the later years of my life.

quoting Carol Rushman on stationary planets, though she was speaking about transiting planets.
"At that time there is a magnification of the expression of that planet, and its energy is greatly intensified. It is very powerful and can be very potent if it keys or ties into your chart." (the art of predictive astrology, p. 183)
