Personally, I’m surprised that the transiting moon’s nodes make no particularly interesting aspects to the natal chart other than the conjunction to the natal part of fortune.

Begging to differ...transiting NN @ 10 Pisces did square his sun @ 16 Gemini, and I think that's still significant. The nodes are so potent.

I don't know if anyone has his time of death. But at noon that day, that NN was pretty active as it squared the moon and was trine Cancer Mars-Uranus. I wonder if he had an interest in Pythagorean triangles (square, trine, quincunx).

It's just a little funny/creepy to me that I had been thinking of this case recently and decided to research it this morning, not knowing what I would find. And yet there are parallels to my chart and my life.

Lewi's lunar return before he died had a new moon in the 8th house, and my upcoming LR also has a new moon (in my natal 8th house). The transiting nodes were squaring his sun, and they're squaring mine now. His sun is exactly conjunct my Mars, my Aries MC conjunct his. I won't look for more similarities. Lewi must have known for a while that he was vulnerable to Pisces eclipses in his 8th house squaring his Gem sun-Pluto and Sag Uranus (ruler of his 8th house).

I just can't figure out what in his natal chart that hints at a sudden, fatal head injury. Nothing in the first house (head) or 8th (death), nothing in Aries apart from the MC, no major Mars-Uranus aspect. I assume a good astrologer could have spotted it. I just wonder how long he knew how he would die, and of course, how did he really know?

I haven't gone through it in full detail but had the same questions. Some of his transits could be interpreted differently too. 'Will take a proper look and be back later.
