I have no idea where our American members live and I hope you're all safe from wildfires raging through the Western states. It seems Violets is in the middle of it. Violets, which state are you in? Please let us know how it's going.

Hi there, we’re in Washington, in very dry country east of the Cascade mountains. We’re safe here where our house is, though. We had a wildfire about 10 miles away that burned over 70 thousand acres, and I do have family members who had to evacuate for a while. But that fire is out now. There is another forest fire nearby (30 miles) that closed a state highway that is used regularly. So, while the sun isn’t orange here anymore and ash isn’t falling in our yard (that happened for a few days), the air quality is still poor. We live in wildfire country, so this is not a new thing. But, the lasting smoke from other fires during a pandemic is definitely new. We are safe, though. I’ll be back in a bit, I just woke up, lol. Thank you all for checking in. ❤️

That is scary, to have the fires so close Violets. Wishing you and your loved ones ongoing protection. ❤️

Ava and lumina, thank you. ❤️ It’s honestly pretty “normal” where we live, as it’s an area that is covered in dry sagebrush, and surrounded by equally dry forests. We don’t get rain on this side of the Cascades, and there are often some bad wildfires on the outskirts of the town I live in. The number of fires taking place right now, and the duration of hazardous air quality is, however, not very commonplace. But we’re okay, just not able to do much outside. 😕💕

Unfortunately, I do live in an endangered habitat. We have nine acres at my mom’s, and my true hope is to preserve it. Fires do destroy a lot in this area, sadly. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shrub-steppe

Looks like a beautiful landscape Violets! I hope it lives on, too. 🙏 Hope this all ends soon (lots of rain).
