Hello everyone, I was looking for further asteroids that might conjunct my Venus thanks to Ava's thread- alas have not found anymore, but I came across the above asteroid and just want to create a thread for it before I forget about it! Whilst I haven't found much conjunct my Venus, I found a few conjunct my Sun and this is one of them. This is what this author had to say about Peacock symbolism:- "Peacock symbolism is fascinating. They’re the favorite bird of Juno/Hera, the Queen of Heaven. They are also associated with the Buddhist Star Goddess Tara and the Ancient Egyptian Isis. In Latin, their name is “pavo,” from the Sanskrit “Pavana” which means purity. “The pride of the peacock is the glory of God,” wrote William Blake. But then the Puritans twisted that into venal arrogance, suitable of condemnation. Once upon a time, the peacock symbolized luxury, beauty, and immortality. The so-called vanity of the male is a projection. Peacocks of both genders are modest and eccentric. They hate gold. To them, it is like garlic to a vampire. And they’re sensitive to atmospheric pressure, becoming restless right before it rains. Their favorite food is Himalayan Wolfsbane, and their feathers contain tiny photonic crystals, similar to opals in their structure. Another weird fact of peacock symbolism? People used to say that they were immune to poison. They preferred it. Astrologically, they’re a bird of Neptune. They are linked to decadence and virtue. You could say that they are the avian expression of Neptunian duality". - Read more at: mysticmedusa.com/2009/05/peacocks-astrology-magic/I suppose to some extent it makes sense to associate it with showing off, particularly in order to get the attention of a mate, but naturally that's only the male peacocks anyway. Where does this asteroid lie in your chart and what do you think it represents for you? I would post other asteroids so as not to make this another thread inspired by my own self-interest, but most other interesting asteroids are already listed on LL by some of you anyway haha

It doesn't do anything in my chart. I checked 4 people, male and female, who really love boasting, but this asteroid isn't doing anything in their chart either.

Thanks FruityLlama , that's very interesting. What are your thoughts about your own placement? === I adored peacocks when I was a child. An expensive restaurant within walking distance had a wooden fence around its outdoor eating area. They had peacocks strutting around the outdoor tables. There were gaps in the fence boards, and peeking through, I could watch them for as long as I liked. This was intoxicating, thrilling. "They are linked to decadence and virtue. You could say that they are the avian expression of Neptunian duality"." I have Peacock exactly conjunct Kaali @ 22 Scorpio, near my NN @ 20 Scorpio. 2063 Bacchus is also there. Yeah, fine dining, peacocks, and kundalini power, that's where I wanted to be. I also have 93 Minerva there (wisdom). Matches that thing about decadence and virtue I think. Pls don't quote

I like peacocks, too. There is one in the neighbourhood and as a kid in the zoo there was this peacock who would follow me around a bit, even though that freaked me out. lol
I don´t think I am very "boasting" in nature though. Well Peacock is on 7 Virgo, right on my asteroid Lilith. lol it trines my Venus on 6 Cap, too. and my Draco name is on 6 or 7 Virgo. lol Draco Peacock must be on my Sun I think, or near. well closer to P`s Sun- Moon than my Sun, falling onto 27°56 Sag in my Draco Chart
P`s Peacock is on 27 Cancer, exact on his Juno. lol and opposing his Venus.
Not sure what to make of Peacock really, except knowing that I like their colourfulness and find them to be quite erm vocal. lol

Thank you for your replies!
Yes, I too am not sure its about boasting as such- at least not in the way that we think of the word. I was wondering if it might have something to do with what we choose to present about ourselves? What we like to "put out there".
I love peacocks too, they are very elegant creatures.
With regards to my own placement, I have ruminated on this a while. I don't hate gold, but I aspire to be all the things the peacock symbolises. Not sure how well its integrated into my personality as such. My mother calls me a magpie which is close enough! Perhaps I'm on the road to Peacock-hood! I would add that I like to express myself through material things and I think my natal chart generally speaks of balancing this material side with the spiritual (NN Scorpio opposite Luminaries in 5th) and not giving into decadence and making a total spectacle of myself. Being in Taurus though, I don't tend to overdo things really and I don't have a particularly addictive personality. Though being opposite my NN perhaps I had a pastlife which was very decadent?

Great thread! FruityLlama , the peacock seems to attract everyone - it is something people are fascinated by because of its adornment, colouring and it amazing displays. To have it conjunct your sun is lovely, I think. You could be that person who catches everyone's eye or fascinates others by your qualities. Or you appreciate beauty and beautiful things. You would be the one who stands out. A peacock could be someone who is content and revels in their own splendour even when not observed. In a spiritual sense that could be someone full of joy or a person who sees the perfection and beauty in all things. All good qualities.

@astrokeen, Thank you for that lovely description! I do appreciate and revel in the good things of my life and I do appreciate beauty a lot. My tastes a fairly wide as well. I wonder if this asteroid could have a Venus-Jupiter flavour to it?
Also just going to plug some data in with people I know:
-Grandad, does like showing off, but appreciates the finer things in life too:- opp. Venus, trine Mars and Neptune
-Nana, not a show off, but ditto my grandfather wrt finer things. Is fairly modest about oneself too though:- conj.Mercury, square Mars and opp.Neptune.
-Mum, not a show off in the slightest, very humble, but also a lover of beauty and can make anything beautiful. She doesn't need expensive materials, she is just really creative and has an excellent taste in clothes. People comment on it:- opp.Moon, squares Venus and Jupiter.
-Dad, also very humble and modest, but likes comfort and very particular about the shirts he wears haha:- trine Moon, Merc and square Venus
-Auntie, not a show off, but very social and has very high standards, likes finer things too. Is a friend of my grandparents:- opp.Jupiter, sextile Saturn, square Pluto. Has friends in high places too I might add.
-Uncle, husband of above, not sure if a show off as such, but I know him and my grandad had a bit of friendly competition between who could entertain the most at gatherings. Uncle was quite a character who told lots of stories about him breaking the rules at school. He and auntie both came from nothing and made themselves a success, and Uncle would make this known. My grandparents were the same to be fair, was the generation I guess. Anyway, he also appreciated finer things, beauty etc and he had:- opp.Moon, sextile Merc, square Venus, conj.Jupiter and Chiron. Interestingly, his asteroid is conjunct mine!
-My partner, a complete show-off and lover of finer things. Is somewhat a connoisseur in things like alcohol, food fashion etc. Does come from that kind of culture though. He has:- trine Venus, Mars and sextile Jupiter
-Sister, not a show off and not especially interested in the finer things I wouldn't say or in beautiful things. She went through a phase of liking plain grey decor. Now, she may have thought that was beautiful, yes, but I mean she isn't motivated by having things that are conventionally beautiful. And I know her, she does not describe things as such and would not have described her grey bedding as beautiful, I think she just likes to be different haha! Or maybe it was so she could wash it with similar colours, idk. She has no Ptolemaic aspects to Peacock.
-A friend who is a bit of a show-off, or at least I think so. Also appreciates beauty etc: only has it trine Pluto.
-A childhood friend who was notorious for showing off (stellium in Leo to boot):- sextile Sun, trine Mars. Not sure if lover of finer things as such though.
Not sure what to make of this data. I'm going to say it shows that Peacock probably doesn't have much to do with showing-off as in boasting and being arrogant and supports what Astrokeen said. Those with aspects to Venus seem more likely than not to be able to create beauty and comfort out of whatever resources they have to hand. This goes back to the nature of the animal itself which is said to be quite refined. They may like to display their creations, so literally showing-off, but not in a competitive or arrogant manner. My mother will decorate things mainly for herself and the family, but as a Libra sun she will always do things with other people's perspectives in mind, such as visitors.
The peacock/peahen is said to prefer dwelling on ground level and in fairly warm climates and with easy access to plants/low trees to feed on, alluding to the comfort factor here. They can actually fly for short distances, but prefer to stay on ground, again comfort.
Interestingly, they are apparently the best at fighting snakes! They are very particular about guarding their territory and can apparently fight off even poisonous ones. They apparently really hate them and will eat them. They are omnivores.
Peacocks are quite social and apparently can demonstrate attachment to humans, but also as said before quite territorial. They also play chase games with one another, presumably for amusement. They are also polygamous. Weirdly, they build nests on the ground but roost in trees.
Sorry, this may be totally useless but I've just enjoyed reading about Peacocks to be honest! I didn't know how clever they could be! I'd love to see an actual Peachick one day, imagine how cute they are!

This is interesting! When i found this asteroid before, first person who came to my mind was Dan Bilzerian - ultra famous social media personality who likes to show off his material goods, weapons and whole harem of attractive women on Insta. And well... Peacock is conjunct his Ascendant 😆

It doesn't do anything in my chart. I checked 4 people, male and female, who really love boasting, but this asteroid isn't doing anything in their chart either. Maybe you should check asteroid Bragg. (i'm.guilty of that and i have it conjunct my Nercury. My ex who's pretty boastful has that conjunction as well)

stellaris, Oh wow, I did not know about that asteroid! That's really interesting. And ditto about the Insta star! I checked some celebrities too for Peacock;- Elizabeth Taylor has it in her 1st house. Richard Burton squares Jupiter Alexander Ludwig opp. Mars exact Catherine Zeta Jones has no aspects. J.Lo has t sextile her Venus Marilyn Monroe trine Pluto, square ASC Nicole Scherzinger sq.Venus, sextile Saturn, opp. Uranus and trine ASC Shania Twain sextile Venus, some squares to outer planets too but bit wide

Maybe this is another away to interpret the peacock as a symbol. Protective of their territory, able to fight off toxic (poisonous) influences. "I may look pretty but I'm tough."

So I had three days where a peacock showed up each day. Synchronicities have been few and far between for me lately, so this was especially curious.
1) A friend sent a card with an illustrated peacock 2) I was spending a lot of time at a website and realized the logo resembles a peacock 3) Listened to an interview (the one with Shailene Woodley that I just posted in basic astrology) and the peacock came up as a kind of metaphor for the shaman's work: a peacock eats toxins to create the beautiful colors in its tail (bright colors can be signs of toxicity in nature)...a shaman "eats" others' trauma and becomes more beautiful spiritually.
Tr Peacock has been @ 5 Scorpio the past few days, tightly conjunct my 6 Scorpio Uranus and exactly squaring my 5 Aqua Mercury.
Pls don't quote
