So I've posted this video once but didn't have the chance to provide my inputs/annotation on it. Adam Elenbaas actually has many interesting viewpoints on astrology and I'd like to explore them.
Notes:
Sanskrit word: anati – beginningless (I might misspell it)
Not much emphasis on reincarnation, there’s a different way to interpret the nodes of the moon vs typical evolutionary astrology perspective
Karma: Circling and cycling without moving, no beginning, no end. Simply cycle of time
North node: desires, increasing, adding to the good or the bad.
South node: decreasing, reducing both the good and the bad ( you want say a tumor on the South Node)
North node or south node are not inherently bad or good. It’s not a dichotomy of good vs bad, what you strive towards vs what you move away from.
Rahu/north node is what perpetuate reincarnation. It’s human desire
South node: the story of the fish who was rescued from the king. The next day, the fish keeps complaining that the pot the king places it in is not big enough. So the king places it in a bigger pot and it keeps growing bigger until the King decides to drop it in the ocean. The fish then asked: “Why did you drop me here, I’ll be eaten by sharks.” The king responded that he knew the fish is actually a god and he’ll be fine. The fish said that in 7 days, there’ll be a deluge, and the king needs to wait for the fish and it’ll come and rescue the king when the deluge submerges.
Point being: South node: the fish unsatisfied with smaller vessels except for the ocean of spirit. The fish is connected to the destruction of the material world (i.e. the flood/deluge). It’s like a small problem in our life the keeps nagging at us until it grows bigger, or a small desire that grows bigger with time that no pots are big enough, even the material world is not enough for it to be expressed.
South node is the fish that nags until you let go of material bondage and seek freedom. Freedom is achieved AT THE COST of the loss/destruction of something else.
North node: the desires that keep the cycle going, the voluntary attachment that makes one keeps going. Say one desires a house, then come to find out the first house wasn’t big enough. So the cycle keeps going … etc.
Evolution perspective of nodes: we linearly move from south to north node. It subtly plays into the Christian theology viewpoint of the existence of a fall from grace, eating the forbidden fruit, that takes us through a journey to seek salvation, to be better. Where we are and where we are heading to can feel guilt-ridden. The underlining attitude behinds consumerism, I started with nothing and now I’m here, constant self-improvement that comes from constant self-dissatisfaction. It’s myopic because ancient texts never say you need to nail down your past lives to figure out your current lives. There’s no old soul.
Desires now or future is indoctrinating. But whatever you desire will result in loss eventually. We all have nodes because we all have desires and nodes are pointers to how to understand your desires and not let them overrule your life.
Look for a version of self and happiness that’s not based on material manifestation or “Evolution” so we don’t perpetuate the cycle of reincarnation.
We are what we are. It’s beginningless. North node is not your lesson.
