Hey everyone, I don't know how interested anyone really is in the sidereal zodiac and Vedic astrology, but i thought I would ask anyway. When it comes to house lords, they obviously change around in sidereal due to ASC going backwards. For example, in western, my 7th lord Saturn is in the 10th house, but in Sidereal, my 7th lord is Jupiter in 5th. Has anyone looked at this and compared? Which one did you find resonated more? Thanks

For me, tropical resonates more, for technical reasons. Granted, I am vastly more familiar with tropical.
Sidereal, Cap DSC, 7th lord is Cancer Saturn in 12th. Tropical, Aqua DSC, 7th lord is Uranus in the 4th...or Leo Saturn in the 12th using Vedic rulership.
-> My husband has sun conjunct Uranus exact and sun trine Saturn exact, so both could fit, but Uranus is more prominent.
Sorry to repeat myself but we got together with transiting Uranus conjunct my Aqua DSC, his pr Aqua DSC, and my pr Aqua sun.
To me that is a TKO victory for tropical.
(I'm always rooting for tropical even though I know Vedic has its own power and sophistication that goes far past Western astrology in scope, ambition, depth. Still I wish they would switch zodiacs.)

Hmm, I haven't checked mine, FruityLlama .. Will report back if I find anything of interest. To me, the trouble with trying to learn Vedic is that the structures themselves are different. It has the same letters, but it's a different alphabet. So, if we try to apply Western-type interpretations, they fail. It's also hard to find a good teacher who doesn't immediately adopt fatalistic interpretations and run with them. So I really don't use it much. It's good in the hands of those that know how to use it (definitely not me, lol). One thing that does resonate with me (to some extent), is the moon nakshatra. Beyond that, I don't know yet.

Amendment to the above: When I read the interpretations on Vedic sites (for various planets and aspects), they seem pretty correct! I think it's the same issue of me trying to wrap my head around both charts. But it's all me. Are you looking at sidereal on astro.com? The houses are a bit wonky there. I'd suggest getting your Vedic chart done on a Vedic site, and see how those interpretations line up? That works well for me. In Vedic I have Cap moon-Asc, among other things... Cancer in the 7th and I do love Cancer-types. Also, the compatibility mentioned for my chart works well too.
Here are some sites:

Thanks so much for replying ladies! I know what you mean about rooting for Western, although part of me doesn't want to miss out on whatever Vedic may or may not be able to tell me! I wish we could crack it! Ah I didn't know they were wonky on Astro.com- thanks 12YearsABlob ! I ran it on a Vedic site and Jupiter is in the 6th so poof goes that! Thanks for posting those videos as well, I'll get stuck into those!

^ Right, it has value for sure. We just have to be careful about our sources...

Its just a very different system. Most will try to apply the western interpretations to it, and most of the time this does not work. To do vedic one really has to detach from most taught in western and embrace a very diff system and also mindset.
