I couldn't find any information on the web on asteroids for Dyslexia.
Dyslexia is said to affect the way information is processed, stored and retrieved, with problems of memory, speed of processing, time perception, organisation and sequencing.
I would like to check 2 asteroids which may relate to the above - Mnemosyne (57) and Pallas - in the charts of people known to be very dyslexic. And how these might be in aspect to Mercury in particular. The difficulty is, of course, how do we know just how dyslexic people are. Many famous people may have it to a mild degree.
Mnemosyne, mother of the nine Muses, is the Greek goddess of memory. Pallas is to do with creative intelligence, organisational skills, and pattern recognition. People with Dyslexia are often poor at organising themselves. It would be interesting to see if certain aspects are common for dyslexia.
Susan Hampshire (time unknown) - actress who wrote a biography about how she overcame her challenges with dyslexia.
Pallas semisextile Mnemosyne Pallas sextile Saturn Mercury conjunct Sun
Could Mercury conjunct Sun place Mercury in a combust mode?

More to be added.

Please feel free to join in and add info for yourselves if you are dyslexic or people you know. Or suggest other ways to investigate this.

People to add:-
Prince Albert: Mnemosyne square Moon, Pallas square Mercury
Kiera Knightly but I don't have her chart.
Someone I know from childhood has it bad and they have Pallas conjunct Mne (this is generational though, everyone born my year has this) and Pallas Q Mercury in Gemini. I don't know their time of birth so it could be that there are aspects to the moon here or ASC.
Sorry that's all I have to add, but interesting thread AstroKeen!

People with Dyslexia are often poor at organising themselves. My understanding of dyslexia is, the eye wanders over the page. Perhaps the mind also wanders, or there is just an all-around tendency to go about things in a holistic, organic way, rather than linear. 10428 Wanders 118401 Linear Perhaps the whole picture, the whole page, distracts from each part. 35268 Panoramix Perhaps there is a lack of resonance with structuring itself. The mind doesn't conform readily with pre-made "structures" like the lines on a page? 376 Geometria I've read that crawling is an important stage in reading development, as it trains the mind in coordination. 6372 Walker My son is not dyslexic, he's always read without any noticeable problems, but when I described the condition to him, he exclaimed that he does have to deliberately exert effort to keep his eyes focused and moving as they should. To go along with that, he has a very quirky but sharp sense of logic. I attribute this to his Scorpio Mercury trine Pisces Uranus. I see him as someone with unique, groundbreaking ideas who is shy because of the force of his own words. He's afraid of people not seeing the logic, the truth, and it makes him a little skittish, as he doesn't want to suddenly have to distrust people or think less of them. The person might be a little recalcitrant and retreating, grounding themselves in their own circuitous or oblique modes of gathering information and formulating conclusions, that is just my hunch. So this might be a real stretch, but what about: 20474 Reasoner 249521 Truth ? 10428, 118401, 35268, 376, 6372, 20474, 249521 Well my son is not dyslexic, or if he is, he's already mastered it, because he reads fine. But he has: * Mercury square Mnemosyne * Linear-Moon @ 10 Cap trine Pallas @ 11 Virgo * Walker conjunct NN @ 2 Taurus trine Truth @ 2 Virgo * 27 Sag Wanders apex of yod with 26 Taurus Panoramix and 26 Cancer Saturn, all aspecting his Libra sun

Did you know Mnemosyne and Pallas were exactly conjunct when you began this thread? @ 10 Libra They are still exactly conjunct and trine Mercury @ 8 Gem today.

Dyslexia is thought to be a disorder with the mind's system regarding the phonological representation of the language. People can be dyslexic and speak any language obviously, but what has been shown in bilingual children is that reading ability has been enhanced when the child learns to read in the language that is more phonologically loyal to the orthography. For instance, Finnish is the most regular language for this in Europe, and romance languages aren't too bad either when compared to English. When the child learns to read in one of these languages first, they can apply it to English much better.
Although this isn't always possible for some kids, the theory above may be useful for astrology in terms of combining Mercurial processing and something that reflects the psyche too..maybe psyche (16) itself could be useful to look at?
I don't have dyslexia as such and have always been good at reading, but I having increasing moments recently where I misread things and words look a bit scrambled. I put it down to having a lot on my mind really. H/e, my psyche is semi-sextile my mercury quite closely and it may sextile Mne and Pallas.

Ava and FruityLlama, thank you for the suggestions. These would be worth exploring. I think the ability to view situations holistically is present in all kinds of people. Dyslexia, however, enables people to see things in a different way - its called 'thinking outside the box' or lateral thinking. Did you know that Dyslexia affects approximately 10% of the population but 60% of self-made millionaires are dyslexic? Dyslexia confers a definite advantage in this respect. Ava , that is an interesting interpretation of how the whole might distract from the parts. People with Dys do find it difficult to attend to many things at the same time. This happens because some things fail to become automatised and thereby become part of long term memory. The short term memory shelf gets overloaded and some things fall off. Learning to drive a car is a good example of how people with dys have to operate - there are many things to attend to simultaneously, which also explains why they get tired quickly and need more breaks.
