Isn't this typically associated with strong Cancer placements? Any other planets/signs that lend themselves to an interest in history? Maybe Sagittarius or Gemini...? 3rd/9th houses...? I'm curious because I really enjoy it, but my only Cancer placement is Saturn. My son seems to enjoy it, but he has Cancer Asc. My mom, a Cancer Sun, is more into our family genealogy. Thoughts?

History is a cappy thing I don’t think cancer likes history even though they tend to get nostalgic at time. They’re more sentimental than anything ... they don’t like to remember the stories as they are, with facts and failures the way a cap does. They’re not nostalgic of values or attachment like taurus either. Reminding them of such would make you look boring and rigid. Cancer is more like: “we used to be so poor but with what you got you bought me this that and other and we were still happy” or “ that one time you really hurt me and ruined me etc”. History is one of the hardest PhD to get, you have to be detailed, analytical and fair.

He doesn't have any planets in Capricorn. 🤷🏻♀️

If you are talking about being historians, I wish I could go through this list en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_historiansBut just a general interest in history, being a history buff, quoting things from history, it's a cappy thing. Granted any zodiac sign can be a historian. For example, Rod Rosenstein is the current deputy attorney general for U.S. Department of Justice. He has a picture of Robert H Jackson (one of the Associate Justices of U.S. Supreme Court) hung in his office. Rosenstein can quote stories and quotes of Jackson. These are the usual behaviors of cappy individuals. They might not be well-versed in all aspects of history, but they thoroughly research the history and tradition of their field. Virgos are generally good at anything. Sags are also another sign interested in academia and can be good at virtually anything. Also Leos love to talk about tribes - it is the most tribalistic sign so naturally Leos are interested in understanding the history of their people

I've read several books by David McCullough (John Adams, 1776, and others) just because I like his writing style so much. He's a Cancer sun, Cap moon: astro-charts.com/persons/chart/david-mccullough/Edit: I guess my point is, maybe Cancers can bring history back to life by reviving the emotional drives that created changes.

I could see how the Cap/Cancer axis could be inclined to enjoy reading about history. I don't know enough Capricorn Suns in real life to say, lol. My mom has Cancer Sun/Cap Moon, but she's more interested in our genealogy and keeping our family history. Although...my husband has Cap Moon as well, and I would say his interest in history is minimal at best. Aliens are way more up his Aqua Mars/NN alley.

My father has a great interest in history - He is a taurus sun, the only cancer placement he has is venus. Though i am convinced he has either a capricorn/cancer ASC/DSC or vice versa or a saturn on an angle.
Growing up I had zero interest in history but had an interest in family trees now i'm very interested in history and starting to have an interest in religious history. I have whole of cancer intercepted in my 9th and capricorn intercepted in my 3rd. It seems now im unlocking these parts of me(past two years i have had capricorns and cancers coming into my life and i have pluto/saturn going through my 3rd house now - so opposing my 9th). I have a dr cancer sun...
My bf is a cap sun/mercury and he has 5 planets(including the moon) in his 4th house. He only seems to be interested in the history of his own country.
Was thinking would it be mercury or the 9th house that would give clues to our mental interests?
pls dnt quote

So I do agree that a penchant for loving history falls under the Capricorn-Cancer axis, particularly Cap as history is inherently saturnine with its close relation to time. I especially see archaeology, another branch of history, as Capricorn. I see anthropology as rather Cancerian. My exboyfriend is a professor of history and has 5 masters degree in varying fields (ancient history, art history, the list goes on). Weirdly enough he doesn't care at all to get his Ph.D * His chart: - Sun/Moon in the 3rd house (information sponge)
- Jupiter in the 1st house (born to be an instructor)
- Mercury in Sagittarius on the Galactic Center (high intelligence)
- Saturn in Capricorn (domicile placement)
No Cancer in his chart, nor any 4th house placements * One of my favorite professors of all time, whom I consider a mentor: - Aries Sun/Aries Moon
- Jupiter in Taurus
- Saturn/Uranus/Neptune in Capricorn
- No Cancer placements
- Unaspected Mercury (find this curious as he's one of the smartest people I know)
*Another razor sharp professor of history I have - Taurus Sun/Capricorn Moon
- Jupiter in Capricorn
- Saturn/Mars in Scorpio (he's the most detail obsessed person on the planet)
- No Cancer placements
- Neptune at 0 Capricorn (I've also noticed prominent Neptune with history people since history is also a form of story telling)
*Super accomplished history professor at my institution - Sun/Moon in Scorpio
- Jupiter in Scorpio conjunct Moon
- Saturn in Sagittarius trine South Node (detail orientated towards the past with a philosophical bent)
- No Cancer placements
- Mercury trine Uranus
And, naturally, my goal is to be a professor of history someday.. I have: - Taurus Sun/Aqua Moon
- Jupiter in Cancer in H10
- Grand earth trine between ASC/Saturn/Sun
- Saturn in Capricorn
- Sun in the 9th house

I have no idea why I'm so reluctant to give the History award to Capricorn, lol. Sorry, heh. I think I read in one of the Linda Goodman books that Cancer placements are keen on history, so I'm mentally stuck on that or something.
Anyway, it does look like Capricorn is a good indicator. My son's only placement in Cap is his Pluto, but I wonder if Pluto/Saturn play a role as well? Digging into the past?

Well I don't have the birth time for three of those professors so you never know! I do suspect that two of them at least have Cancer on an angle

I am a history buff and I have a Cancer ASC. I have a few historic figures in my database and I enjoy combining stories and the astrology. My grandfather used to tell me stories of the Tudors which was my favourite period back then and sing me Greensleaves haha!! He has a cancer venus might I add.
I also loved ancient egypt and have studied the heiroglyphs since I was a young girl. They're actually horrible to study deeply sometimes but I used to make cartoushes for everyone in class...oh lord.
I had to present an overview of the linguistic structure of coptic and its descendants a couple of years ago so I do know it to some detail. I generally like combining all my interests, such as history and languages, but I do get nostalgic for times gone by, even though they were horrendous.

My son's only placement in Cap is his Pluto, but I wonder if Pluto/Saturn play a role as well? Digging into the past? My inside view of Capricorn and experience with other Caps leads me to believe that the "I use" mentality is real. It's like our programming. When I was young I remember climbing on our camper that was parked by the garage, standing on top so I could reach up and pluck the leaves above, and then squish out some mysterious white stuff from the stems. I was no older than six, but I remember wondering about the industrial potential for that white stuff..."Is this an ingredient in glue? Medicine? What can *I use* this for?" Making great use of humble, earthy materials is enticing to Cap. It's like alchemy. "I had these dandelions out back...now they're dandelion salad, dandelion tea, and dandelion wine. Viola!" So of course you can see how that's just fundamentally "historical"...the technical know-how of working the land. Most Caps that I've known are keenly interested in earth-wisdom in one form or another. We do like the atavistic things, mainly because we are keepers of that same mentality: how can I use this place (earth)? What can be done with all this stuff around us? Most Caps that I've known are very much into religion, the occult, or government...usually one of those three, but typically just one thing at a time. So one of my Cap friends is religious, hates the occult and stoutly ignores the government. Another just focuses on the government. I had turns with each of those and now I'm into the occult. But the point is, Caps are focused on who's in charge: the people (gov't), God (religion), or the Universe/Nature (occult)? Whatever that power structure is, we want to tap into it, *use* the energy. And of course, we'll get into the history of that, to feel more connected to the latent or inherent power there. "I'm reading The Bible because it strengthens me in my daily life." "I'm learning about economics, I'm reading books from the Austrian School, because it informs my financial decisions." "I'm obsessed with astrology, the most ancient science, because it helps guide me." See what I mean? But as for just having bookshelves full of books on history, and historical artifacts about, and paintings of Washington, I do think that is more of a Cancer thing. My Cancer ASC husband's apartment when I met him, it was very historical, with a framed print of The Nation Makers on the wall: And there are all these antiques and things, but it's all personal and American, nothing international unless it pertains to Christianity and The American Dream somehow. Pls don't quote

Ava, your husband's penchant for that stuff specifically makes sense as the United States is a Cancer Sun!

I used to love history. It was one of my favourite classes in school (until the industrial revolution, which was a big snore, and just before I dropped out of school). I have Saturn in Cancer, and Mars in the fourth.

PLS DONT QUOTE as a cap stellium and aqua 10th stellium, when I was about 5-6, the first book I read was Marie Curie biography. I finished it in one Sunday afternoon. My childhood book collection is filled with biographies of Einstein and Edison and many scientists (might be aqua influences) as well as quotes from literature that I read. I often would use those quotes in my essays at school even at 11 or 12 yo which would lead to teachers remembering me for a long time Classmates used to call me walking dictionary
I think cap influenced ppl don’t just read just about anything but rather things with classical values (Things that are meant to last)
House placements matter a lot too and lots of 9th housers read or research a lot
This girl who were born 2 days after me with a stellium in 7th and 8th is much less concerned about history. History and the social sciences are “transcendental” topics as in they are concerned with the bigger universal Truths
