May I ask: Is this the guy who mistreats women on the one hand and is nominated to the supreme court as a representative of law on the other hand?

whisperix the very same. I am aware that German media probably tells only bits of the whole story, and is most probably totally biased (like any media), and yet, from the snippets we get here, I am just left speechless. Not just about him (but about him, too), but about so much that is going on around us now. (not only in America, I really do not even have to look that far, sadly enough). But yeah, that`s the guy.

Ahhh! Thank you for the information lumina! I had a chance to listen to the news yesterday. I agree with you that even news on screen are very biased and I used to listen to different news from different countries and was amazed about that variety of opinions about one topic. This guy and the very individual support of Trump I saw on screen made me very sad .

Well, I finally bothered to look up his chart. It turns out he was born 8 months later than me, nearly to the day. So, sun trine sun, Mercury trine Mercury, Mars trine Mars, each orb 1, and moon conjunct Venus, moon opposite Venus DW widely. His Mercury aslo completes my fixed grand cross. Born 8 months apart, so the outers are very close... Saturn conjunct Saturn orb 1/4 of a degree. His Pluto Uranus conjunction is far tighter and more exact than mine is, and too far advanced for the Saturn opposition to restrain it. He has a Neptune Jupiter opposition forn a T square with his sun and Mercury in aqua, I have that opposition form a T square with my Leo moon, so my moon completes his Mercury T as well (mine is more exact). I have Venus Rx trine Saturn sRx, he has moon trine saturn. Geeze, even his NN is conjunct my sun...
Know what I have that he doesn't? Saturn square Mercury. As one of those "old straight white Christian guys", I am scared to death of getting anywhere near a political discussion on the "intrawebs" about this. Pluto in the 11th (politics) square Mercury in the 8th not withstanding.

Sorry if I sound callous and dismissive, I just think people who are deeply intelligent tend to be focused and calm under pressure.
The core issue for me isn't exactly the sexual assault, that's a separate matter. It's not that he's not qualified because he's probably guilty of what he's accused of. That's unknowable to us, and up for debate, whether or not he's guilty.
What's not up for debate is, he acts like a loose cannon.
Everyone is entitled to hope for more than this, with a Supreme Court Justice. Ditto with Trump, obviously. Sorry to be expecting comportment and dignity from these "leaders of the free world."

Ava I totally want to emphasize this, especially the last two lines you wrote.

I don't know about deeply intelligent = calm under pressure, but he definitely isn't fit. He has never even tried a court case, apparently. He's just a guy who got where he is, because of connections.

Is it right that this means he is in that position for life?

Unless impeached or he retires, yes.

Yes lumina he would be in the position for life, unless he decided to retire. Some judges only "retire" this position through death

athena so I think the vote was in his favour, if I heard it right? So he will be there long after the president has changed again. (unless he decides to retire of course). I actually don`t know what to say.

lumina Yes, sadly he was confirmed. An extremely narrow vote (50-48) at that. So out of the 9 supreme court justices, the majority are now of the party of Donald Trump, just as both chambers of Congress currently are. Pretty grim time for this country.

lumina Pretty grim time for this country. Yes, and for the world at large, too. I really don´t know what to say.
