An idea I lifted from elsewhere.. but I'd like to see the wonderful minds here hash it out. I have a rather dull stance on this which is: yes and no. I remember when t. Uranus was conjunct my natal Venus.. in fact I remember the entire era Uranus was transiting my 7th house. I was in the same, 6 year relationship. There were moments when we broke up (twice), but the situation would be remedied 24 hrs later. So no permanent change there. What about you guys? Thematically, let's say Uranus shakes something up. The changes could be permanent (the American Revolution) or the changes, while insane and sweeping, could get reversed and the previous era's conservatism come can back and reign supreme again with a vengeance (the French Revolution/Arab Spring are examples of this). Thoughts?

I am having same transit now as you mention through my 7th house.
Well some changes were quite permanent, ending friendships and relationships which I am 500% I do not wish to change back. Some were short shocks and revelations. And permanent change for me was meeting a new man when things seemed hopeless.
So both yes and no

I remember watching an interview with Anita Moorjani who wrote a book about life after death...she was saying, having an NDE is like having the lights turned on, and you realize you are in this unimaginably huge warehouse, seeing millions of things, whereas before, you had only seen what was right in front of you.
To me Uranus is like that, a flicker of light that expands a person's vision and understanding. Like an epiphany. Maybe it's exhilarating, or horrifying, or both. Then the lights go out again and things lose intensity and turn mundane again. Life seems more stable that way (the dull way). It's like the difference between being sober or high (not that I would know, of course).
My Uranus is in Scorpio so when it's strongly activated, it feels like moments where hidden truths come to light and take a wrecking ball to whatever assumptions were in place before. It's Pluto-Uranian and I'd say, often deeply unpleasant....but can be amazing, like the best feeling ever.
^ Wobbly analysis, just feeling my way through it.

Hmm... interesting topic.
I think, it's not so much about permanence as significance(?)
I'm with you on that one - it may or may not be 'permanent'. But (IMO) the point of a Uranian transit is not how long it'll last, or how long the changes will last. It's measured by impact.
Any one, short-lived event could be life-changing. Say someone you are close to passes away (heaven forbid, and I hope not, sorry to use this as an example) - that is a permanent change. And a part of you will never be the same again.
But if the 'change' is a break-up, and those people do end up getting back together. I'll wager it brought to light some things they needed to change about their perspective. They might go into the next phase, with a wholly different mindset.
Say if the 'change' is you moving abroad. Your place of residence changes, you're confronted with a slew of things you weren't prepared for. Even if you do end up moving back, or moving on to some other place - that place is now a part of you. It's left an indelible mark on you.
So, I think sometimes the changes are permanent, sometimes transient. But they're always significant.

^ This is also what I think. No, probably not permanent, but probably life changing in some way. Since Uranus has been transiting through my 9th house, I can't count the number of times I've moved to different states, different cities--as opposed to while it was in my 8th house, when I only moved apartments within the same city. Thank God it's in my 10th now, and making some nice aspects to my chart.
Anyway, none of those moves were permanent, but they definitely changed my life.

In my experience Pluto transits tend to be permanent, uranus transits not always(when it hit my natal pluto it gave me a permanent change). I think certain transits to natal uranus tend to be permanent as well(ie saturn).

Would Pluto transits have deeper change over a longer period of time ? Opposed to quick Uranus shocking change?

Would Pluto transits have deeper change over a longer period of time ? Opposed to quick Uranus shocking change? I would think that would be accurate. Pluto transits, for me, definitely tend to create more long term changes.

I've been contemplating Uranus transits, since it's currently opposing my natal Uranus. This is supposed to be a transit of reevaluation, and to some degree a "midlife crisis" transit, depending I guess on how true to ourselves we've been up to this point in our lives. While I feel definitely fried and overwhelmed by the sheer number of things that need to get done lately, I'm chalking that up to Saturn hitting my Saturn/Pluto square. Typical. 🙄 Interestingly, im not feeling the need to change any core issues in my life, just a few tweaks here and there that I think are more aligned with Pluto transiting through my 6th house. So it's comforting for now to think that my lifestyle is in tune with my true self to the degree that the Uranus opposite Uranus transit isn't fostering any huge desire for me to make any drastic changes (my husband's Uranus opposition transit was completely different, we sold our house, he switched careers, etc.). So yay. That said, his last Uranus transit did create permanent change in the sense that we live in a completely different area of the state, and although he returned to his drudging line of work behind a computer, he has a different title and works for a smaller company. He has a ten minute commute instead of an hour commute through Seattle traffic, so the changes weren't huge, but I guess they did the trick.
