What is Juno?

Juno is ‘the marriage asteroid’ and it represents how someone relates to a partner in the context of a committed union. In mythology Juno is the daughter of Saturn, wife of Jupiter, and mother of Mars, Minerva and and Vulcan. As alredy said, Juno was Jupiter’s wife. He cheated on her but she still stayed with him and fulfilled her traditional duties. No matter what, Juno remains loyal and faithful.

Juno in aspect between two people indicates a strong attachment; usually is the planet person the one that represents what Juno person in looking for in a relationship.

Juno is often strongly placed in synastry charts of marriage couples. The strongest aspects are of course conjunctions and oppositions, trines and sextiles are not so strong but still very effective.

Juno – Ascendant: With this aspect we have most likely an ideal relationship between two people; full of love, romance, care and passion. The Ascendant person presents an ideal mate for the Juno person, the Juno person was probably instantly attracted to the Ascendant person.

I wonder how you feel about the other aspects? I was thinking of conjunctions while reading this - but, how would you interpret other hard aspects? Or, for that matter soft aspects?
Since it's an asteroid, they'd have be pretty close, like say, a 0° square or trine or whatever...

Or is it that any aspect is a good aspect?

I do start with a baseline idea that conjunctions and easy aspects are more conducive to commitment.

Or, even if there is no commitment, just hanging around each other quite a bit.

Squares, unless I have reason to think otherwise...I do lean towards an interpretation like, "Maybe they won't get married, or last."

Juno is also really vindictive, but opts to punish the Lovers and their children rather than her husband himself. sometimes even those who were becoming unwilling objects of Jupiter`s affection.

Also she DID leave Jupiter occasionally, but he managed to win her back by making her jealous and threatening to marry someone else (it was a trick).

They did have a Long honeymoon period (300 years), which they spent just with each other. Actually Jupiter married her to have sex with her. She withheld it (and he did not dare raper her, as she was his equal and Born from the same parents, so definitely equal in Status) until he agreed to marry her.
After the 300 years of honeymoon period, their relationship consisted of constant bickering, infidelity on his part, and being caught up in a cycle of separating and coming back together.

But it`s true, Juno never cheated on him and kept to her vow, even if it must have made her miserable, humiliated and enraged (but she could act out her rage on the human consorts of Jupiter, and Boy, how she did!)

Anyway, let`s assume astrology is not following the myth to a T, but even then the Devotion of Juno is not really one of an emotional or spiritual nature. It is Devotion to a social role/ ceremony.

and no, it is not the soulmate Asteroid. It is a mating Asteroid however.
Also I think the attraction between Jupiter and Juno, and possibly even the love, must have been great, I mean, come on 300 years of honeymoon???

The Problems started when they had to get back into Society and find their "roles". On their own they were actually well suited to each other and it seems that Jupiter was still attracted to her, even after having cheated on her so often. Well what a.....! But anyway. lol


Having said that it does not always take on These dramatic proportions. My parents actually have a DW of Jupiter and Juno, Opposition and sextile.

While their dedication to each other is unquestionable, and infidelity has never played a role (my Mom is a Scorpio, she made the boundaries very clear from the beginning, which is actually also a Juno-Thing, Setting up some ground rules about a relationship, or suffering from the lack of boundaries if you do not), I definitely can see the playful bickering there.


Well P and me have an exact square of Saturn-Vertex to Juno in the Composite, actually a Grand cross if we include other asteroids.

Valentine-Lust 22-23 Scorpio
Saturn-Vertex 21-24 Leo
Psyche 24 Aquarius

while we can dismiss the other asteroids, the Juno-Saturn definitely makes one think. Juno is in 4th house, Saturn in 7th. So Ava , I guess you are right about your Interpretation there. fits Event he Composite. Funny enough individually he has a sextile and I have a trine between Juno and Saturn; and synastrically his Valentine trines my Saturn and Juno. my Valentine sextiles his Saturn and trines his Juno. But int he Composite they come out as squares. lol

What if you have say A's Juno sextile sun, square venus, and B's juno trines A's venus and mars?

Like that double whammy in amongst easy aspects?

Natally, Juno square Venus may indicate a tendency towards "cold feet," or some kind of tension when it comes to commitment. In a possibly romantic situation, B could find A attractive, A's style (Venus) and mannerisms (Mars) appeal to B's Juno, they signal what Juno finds "relationship material."


Since A's sun is sextile Juno, B's Juno may aspect A's sun.

Yet signs and houses matter; for instance, if B's Juno is in Libra, then A's Juno-square-venus skittishness or indecision may present itself in a way that feels too brash or off balance to Libra Juno. 

If B's Juno is in Aquarius, that same shiftiness could be interpreted as "spontaneous, surprising," so that A is even more attractive.

I do think the 'concept' of her devotion matters more than the details of their story... Or, I should certainly hope so.

I do think the 'concept' of her devotion matters more than the details of their story... Or, I should certainly hope so. 

I can see how it might mean, just simple, reflexive devotion...for some reason you find yourself less able to move away, when your Juno is tightly aspected.

But I also thought Juno signs indicate what a person is looking for in a partner. 

So if a person suits your taste, you might then form an emotional attachment to them based on that.

Well the first astrologers using the asteroids obviously based the meaning on the myths. Int his case however either they had a sloppy grasp of Juno`s myth (and especailly the multilayeredness) or worse, they were just cherrypicking those things that they liked and turning a blind eye to anything else. Beyond that Juno has a lot to say about the (dis)Balance of power in a relationship, issues of equality (and what happens if These things are getting really out of Balance and unequal - that is when we have her rage and vindictiveness come out and lashing out at others) and of course (social) Status - the last actually being the reason why she is considered the "marriage Asteroid". Also what I found is that Transits and progressions to or of Juno seem to be very good timers to indicate a timeframe when marriage can or will take place. Well the wedding, the marriage Comes after that of course, and lasts longer than that. hopefully.

if there are Close conjunctions in synastry, after the honeymoonperiod there will These issues come out and have to be dealt with and Partners Need to find to an Agreement about those things, or the dark face of Juno will Show itself and noone wants that! Unfortunately we meet her shadow persona more often in marriages and committed partnerships than we would like to.

On the other Hand I think if two People are really well matched personally (as you can see from other aspects) they might get to experience the sunny side of Juno, which is what we probably all are eager to experience, and Juno aspects seem to indicate the promise that this could be a relationship like that, committed, stable, bonded, faithful, mutual agreeing and well respected by the whole world.

this is an ideal however, and often enough reality will look at least partially different. And in the case of People with Juno in challenging aspect with neptune - well they might probably think of marriage as living in a Disney-world but then of course if they really get married, will either have to adjust their expectations realizing, nope, no Disney world, just the real one where you have to Change diapers and argue about whose turn it is to do the dishes, or will continue to live in quite some Illusion, and the marriage they think they are in, might be very different from the one they really are in.

Of course it could also denote a spiritual, sacred marriage Kind of deal, but I would assume this might be more if there was a conjunction, trine or sextile. In worst case Scenario they might feel committed to someone they never even met or have a relationship with (celebrity crushes would belong here, that People can get obsessive about - the shadow of commitment is Obsession of course ; or Feeling committed to a priest, someone with a different sexual orientation, someone utterly unavailable, physically, emotionally or through Status etc.)

I have been thinking on Jupiter-Juno in synastry, I'm not really convinced it makes couples compatible or made for each other I think other things would need to be considered for that. Though I have only looked at 2 couples and in those 2 i know who have this both couples got together and did marry,  there was infidelity in both of them and one of those marriages ended, not due to the infidelity itself, but a number of factors. Juno walked out on Jupiter. I do think though it increases the likely hood of getting together and committing to each other in the legal sense. 

Myself and my bf dont have the conjunction. His juno is conj my DSC and my juno is trine his ASC. Also my prog juno is conjunct his juno and trine his jupiter and ASC.  Our progressed comp juno is on my natal juno and opposite my saturn squaring my MC/IC.

Also we have Jupiter-neptune conjunction to the degree. I do not believe we will marry in an official sense due to other outside things and also because we dont really feel the need for it. But we have the illusion you could say of  being a married couple as in we're are basically married but without the ceremony/legal stuff.
