I interviewed loads of farmers for my research and discovered how important it is to eat agrochemical free foods. Many farmers who come into close contact with the chemicals reported feeling ill. Some farmers reported allergic reactions if they were accidentally in direct contact with the chemicals.
One farmer, in particular, had a debilitating disease which could not be diagnosed. When he switched to natural farming (a term used to describe farming where agrochemicals are not used), his health started to improve miraculously. Women farmers who suffered from inflammatory diseases said they were pain free after eating poison free-food.
Because organic food can often be expensive, one needs to find local farms or local growers one can buy from directly. I have applied for an allotment (these are plots of land reserved for local residents to grow food) so that I can grow vegetables. Once I get it, I plan to grow as many veg. as possible for myself and the family.

That's wonderful, @astrokeen,
I've seen that much of the debate around GMO food misses the point that the plants are modified to survive heavy pesticide spraying, and here in the US, the boom of GMO sugar beet crops coincided with unprecedented levels of glyphosate (Round Up) in our atmosphere. Many beekeepers have said this is the origin of widespread colony collapse.
My doctor used to test all his patients for glyphosate toxicity until he realized that everyone had it, including himself, and he eats over 90% organic. People spray it all over their lawns and it's carried by the wind.
However, there is a lot of evidence that fresh, organic fruits and vegetables are able to help detoxify us. I follow people on YouTube who've cured advanced cancer with plant-based diets and fresh, organic juices.
Best of luck with your garden!
