Who Is A “Terrorist” In Biden’s America?

Far from being a war against “white supremacy,” the Biden administration’s new “domestic terror” strategy clearly targets primarily those who oppose US government overreach and those who oppose capitalism and/or globalization.

In the latest sign that the US government’s War on Domestic Terror is growing in scope and scale, the White House on Tuesday revealed the nation’s first ever government-wide strategy for confronting domestic terrorism. While cloaked in language about stemming racially motivated violence, the strategy places those deemed “anti-government” or “anti-authority” on a par with racist extremists and charts out policies that could easily be abused to silence or even criminalize online criticism of the government.

Even more disturbing is the call to essentially fuse intelligence agencies, law enforcement, Silicon Valley, and “community” and “faith-based” organizations such as the Anti-Defamation League, as well as unspecified foreign governments, as partners in this “war,” which the strategy makes clear will rely heavily on a pre-crime orientation focused largely on what is said on social media and encrypted platforms. Though the strategy claims that the government will “shield free speech and civil liberties” in implementing this policy, its contents reveal that it is poised to gut both.

I think they -- the people creating this police state -- are the real terrorists. This is terrifying. We shouldn't have to live in fear of being branded terrorists and treated as such, for exercising free speech.

How many are set to be imprisoned and tortured? What is their crime?

Nobody is creating a police state - except for Ohio, who have passed a bill to criminalize disobeying a police officer’s orders. Also, if you stand too close to them - whatever they consider to be too close.

I don’t trust Glenn Greenwald. And to answer your question: the domestic terrorists who were storming capitol buildings, killing BLM protesters, and tried to overthrow the government. That’s who is considered a terrorist in Biden’s America.

No, it isn’t.  Milley was standing up for American citizens.  He wasn’t caving to right-wing propaganda.  He’s a good guy.  It’s refreshing to hear tgat a military man wants to know whatever he needs to know, about white rage, because that’s a real thing.

By the way, all of those people who went on after the rally, were trying to overthrow the government.  They didn’t want Biden certified.  There was a noose put up outside, as they hunted for Pelosi and Pence.  They have NO excuse for what they did.  They’re white supremacists and conspiracy theorists wound up into a frenzy, thanks to trump’s big lie, and their willingness to eat up his lies, in their denial of reality.  Qanon is just insane, and those people were also there.

As one who's followed the use of agent provocateurs and FBI plants for many, many years, nothing I see in a photo convinces me of anything. 

Name the exact people doing that, show me the biometric scan is real, show me their actual political affiliation and/or government employment status....show me the history of their white supremacy ideology, each and every person accused of it. Otherwise there is no reality and no justice. There should be open trials and transparency, like the OJ Simpson case.

If such a thing could be accomplished, then THAT would tell me who is who. Simply believing that everyone there was who they appeared to be, or who we were told they are, is silly. It's just as silly as believing all the destruction, vandalism, and looting that occurred under the Black Lives Matter banner was accomplished by faithful adherents to that ideology.

It's important to understand the actual facts.

I am not a Trump supporter and neither is Glenn Greenwald, by the way.

I don't need to be shown anything about the Capitol. Law enforcement is over-equipped to identify every culprit and is only playing stupid for tactical reasons when it pretends to have to rely on tip lines. How dumb are we? What was the Patriot Act even for, if surveillance and preparation failed THERE, when they were blowing the trumpet about what they were about to do, for weeks? Whose fault is that?

Again, the tools we already have were sufficient to prevent that attack, but they opted not to. The tools are sufficient to identify all in attendance but they are choosing not to. The tools should be sufficient to prosecute whoever committed a crime that day.

We don't need a full-scale domestic war.

Who in their right mind actually supports the US military turning on regular citizens?

I don't support that war whatsoever and I do not respect top military brass who enabled that slaughter.

MANAR WAHEED: Yeah. So, there are over 50 federal crimes related to domestic terrorism. There is a whole framework of hate crimes laws that were created to address white supremacy violence. And law enforcement, in particular the FBI, has the power to investigate before a crime has even been committed. And these powers are so broad that the FBI has abused them in ways that target Black Lives Matter, people engaged in immigration advocacy. We can go back to the civil rights movement and the surveillance of Martin Luther King Jr. We’re coming off of — yesterday was Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Yesterday we were honoring Martin Luther King, and today we are empowering the systems that hurt him and other civil rights leaders.

And so, instead, I would implore these leaders to look within the systems that already exist, to look within the FBI and determine why are they not using these resources to address white supremacy violence, where are the resources actually going, and to actually rein in the FBI’s powers, to create a prohibition on profiling that doesn’t have these broad exceptions that swallow the rule, which is what we had under the Obama administration, with loopholes for national security and border security, to rein those in and do oversight of the FBI and figure out why these issues aren’t actually being addressed, instead of creating more police powers, more crimes, within a system that hurts Black and Brown people, under the guise of actually protecting them.
