I don't know about all those topics and I wouldn't put anything past Trump, but I do lament the lack of scrutiny of our regulatory agencies. They have unwarranted trust, there is truly blatant corruption, and there is A LOT of blood on their hands. I wish our intellectuals would give that a nod.
And seriously, the EPA is a joke. How many millions of acres have been saturated in Round-Up under their watch? Just to give one example.

If people don't turn out in record numbers to get him out, we are well and truly f*cked. We need non-voters to register, and to vote blue. Ruth Bader Ginsburg died, and I hate that along with crying over the fact that this amazing woman is now gone, my calm turned to utter dread, and sobbing over those hateful, gleeful gits who have been waiting to replace another Supreme Court Justice, with someone like Tom Cotton, who is ready to get rid of Roe vs Wade.

But they won't do it. For some reason, punishing the Democrats is more important than stopping Trump, or what the Republicans have become. I don't know how the republicans can get away with everything, and it's somehow the fault of the Democrats.

I am bewildered that anyone supports Trump. I feel like an alien in this country because nothing makes sense to me. anela , I feel totally doomed regardless of who wins. It's the corporations and NGOs and World Bank/IMF that scare me. And the people. I do not relate to this culture, I just never learned to get on board and roll with it. I can't even do Christmas (though I realize, that's international. It's just something I do not enjoy.)

I think people start to hear white noise every time someone puts Trump and Hitler in the same sentence and I'll tell you why. If Trump was in way comparable to Hitler, then Chomsky would be in prison for saying that. So would most Dems and the media. Hitler destroyed opposition with brute force. As far as I can see, the media, entertainment industry, academia, the establishment generally are still free to express their Anti-Trump mantra. Now, I don't really care about Trump, I ain't a fan, but how can I take headlines like this seriously?? People like Chomsky are fear-mongers, that's all. It also cheapens the lessons we should have learnt from life under the real Hitler and very disrespectful to those who lived and suffered from him.

I love hearing your direct opinion FruityLlama. I agree that Hitler is his own thing. But Trump is dangerous and could lead this world into its deadliest phase yet. To me, it's not Covid but the "cure" that will set the depopulation gears in motion, for the first time ever, like clockwork, with international scope. More than Trump, it's the other factors that line up with totalitarian regimes creating the same situation. There's been a continuum of these forces, and they are peaking again now: the compliant/eager corporations, the controlled media, the population giving too much of their attention to the propaganda, falling in line with instructions and prompts to turn on each other. Americans tend to be overly proud and most have no real baseline understanding of true desperation and hardship (war, starvation, third world deprivations.) So we are kind of ripe for one coup after another, as we are easy to control with flattery, amenities, and reassuring news anchors. There has been increasing danger at every level...people don't even register how sinister it is. Or they think, the US has only been a threat to people who deserve it somehow abroad. No...it's been just as evil here, we just haven't been seeing it yet, except occasionally, like with 9-11. But even then, most people still believe the mainstream narrative. We are aggressively instructed to not question The Narrative. No one wants to be a Dangerous Conspiracy Theorist do they? Chomsky is not hitting the sensitive points but playing along in the game. It's people like Julian Assange who represent the true nature of our "justice" system and intolerance of criticism and exposure.

The thing is, he would love to do that, and he's still going on about having political opponents (who aren't even real politicians anymore), investigated and arrested. He is really losing it. I understand what you're saying, but it still feels like that's what we're working towards. If he wins again, which I can't see happening now, I just won't know what to think about this country anymore. It certainly won't be anything good. He's celebrated a teenager who murdered protesters, and encouraged violence. Also encouraged armed protesters who were after Whitmer in Michigan. He's dangerous. And that's just a tiny bit of everything that's wrong.

I was amazed to read today that in Wisconsin, Trump has a 42% approval rating. This is one of the lower ratings in the US!! With democracy and climate change at stake, as well his mishandling of a pandemic, the fact that so many American still approve of Trump makes little sense.

I posted in the vent thread, that he's just admitted to having US Marshals execute a suspect - the guy who was accused of shooting a "proud boy" I think it was. It's on twitter, and probably all over the place by now. People already knew that was likely what happened, from reports, but it's still something to hear him say it (proudly, and having members of a crowd cheer in response).

anasage, nice to have you here. Welcome to AstroGarden. I am assuming you live in the USA and come across Trump's followers - they are fundamentalists in their own way, blind to sense and reason.

Already...absolutely mandatory, no-exemption, experimental MRNA vaccination laws for all citizens in Peru?
Who's next?
