Best wishes with those issues, anela. I used to say, when my father was alive, "No one can make you feel like crap like your parents can." That seemed true to me then. My dad was great....and clashing with him in any way really stressed me out. --- @sopranosoul "I have pSun conjunct pMercury in Virgo with an orb of 3º. Ever since pMercury entered Virgo, I gained the gift of learning things very quickly, and I want to harness that for the next 12-13 years until it enters Libra." I think you're fortunate to have that, too. "At this moment in time my progressed chart actually has a lot of soft aspects." And you seem happy! "I envy you Faith, because I'll never be able to experience pMercury in Aquarius in my lifetime. I'd like to know what that's like, to have a whiz mind " Haha...you are smarter than me, you speak how many languages? And you have a real, technical job. Advanced brains. My natal Aqua Mercury isn't keeping up with any of that. However, I do believe there is SOMETHING to this progressed Mercury stuff. And Aqua Mercury has its own bag of tricks...fun to play with ...so I'm happy for this homecoming of the mind. It will be really interesting to see if my mind works faster as pr Mercury speeds up. I'm still in the "shadow period" and will be, for the next few years.

I'm still in the "shadow period" and will be, for the next few years. I wanna see how it plays out too. But even though it's in the shadow period, you should start feeling a change maybe in a year's time. For you it'll be back where it was in about 2.5 years or so right? I remember about a year before pMerc entered Virgo, I suddenly became way more organised in my way of learning, ie. writing stuff down as soon as I learned something new. I rarely had to ask the same question twice. Before that I was lazier with learning and just frequently forgetting new concepts taught to me.

@sopranosoul
So interesting about pr Mercury in Virgo. I know several Virgo Mercury people who are really meticulous note-takers and planners. There's even an order to the disorder. More than one friend is in the habit of unloading all emotionally messy thoughts into a journal, for catharsis. Great habit and self-discipline.
They're also old-school about using actual pen and paper. Are you fond of writing stuff down by hand?
With my pr Mercury in Aquarius, I'm getting a sense of it mostly in private, as I write notes to myself. My mind comes alive with new ideas, new ways of piecing things together, where it wasn't making those connections before. It's almost tactile, I can FEEL new networks firming up in my brain.
Julia Cameron, author of cult classic The Artist's Way, has natal SD Mercury in Aquarius. She advocates Morning Pages, three pages written by hand every morning. I think talking to oneself like that is especially important for Aqua Mercury, since it can be eccentric enough to elude others' understanding or compassion, and really needs to sort itself out. Self-compassion and self-knowledge becomes especially important here because it's like you are playing with dynamite (just a little bit). :-)
Pr Cap Mercury justifies itself with laying out structured, rational arguments; pr Aqua Mercury justifies itself by finding shortcuts, novel solutions, a fresh perspective. It's monkeying around and finding joy in that.
Of course I've always had that baseline instinct with my natal Mercury, but I think the progressed placement modulates the natal expression....adjusts the volume and sound quality...highlights different instruments. Capricorn is like a muted, steady, old-fashioned drumbeat, while Aquarius is more technological and whimsical.

I've had Mercury progressed in Gemini for years, and I do the same thing, although less since I just started venting on the boards. I think I was better off writing in diaries or on 750words (made for the morning pages dump sort of thing), because I got things out without anyone making assumptions, and I sorted things out - usually. If I had a disagreement going with someone, or was worried, I would write out my side, then look at things from their side, even if I just thought they had no right to do something. I would try. Even though I like talking with people, and making friends, I feel like I've lost something since I stopped keeping it all to myself. Not just a certain amount of dignity, but... I don't know. I think I just stopped caring when things got really bad. I know that Mercury has the reputation for being quick, but I wonder how it progressed through two signs (almost) whilst others are slower. It seems like it's been in Gemini forever, and it started out at 19*Aries.

anela Yeah I'm a great fan of talking to myself I find it's tricky writing by hand, I have privacy concerns, and typing is faster and more convenient. So I don't get all the benefits that Julia Cameron associates with writing in longhand, on paper. Mercury's speed is always changing, slowing and stopping when it changes direction. So as our charts progress they reflect the speed of Mercury at the time corresponding to our chart. My progressed sun is dated February 18th. So I can see here... on this ephemeris ...Mercury was moving at 1°02 per day then. Five years from now Mercury will be moving @ 1°12 per day. Five years later it's at 1°20. It will keep accelerating as long as I'm alive, towards the maximum speed of 2°15 per day. A yearly ephemeris shows Mercury won't turn Rx again in my lifetime, unless I live to 123 years old: www.astro.com/swisseph/ae/1900/ae_1976.pdfMercury didn't turn Rx again until May 9th; I'd have to live long enough for my sun to progress there. Of course the progressed chart's sun advances one day for each year that we live. I assume everyone knows that but I say it just in case someone wanders onto this thread and is confused.

More than one friend is in the habit of unloading all emotionally messy thoughts into a journal, for catharsis. Great habit and self-discipline. They're also old-school about using actual pen and paper. Are you fond of writing stuff down by hand? No, actually I have the worst handwriting (lefty here) and get impatient writing anything down. I'm obsessed with typing stuff. Last year I started a word document called "meditation stuff" where I just log thoughts and ideas and events. You never know what you come up with . It's true, I mean, despite having had pMerc in Cap, at the end of the day you've always been an Aqua merc. I'm still wondering how my natal Cancer merc and pVirgo merc interact together. In fact I do wonder how much the progressed chart modulates the natal chart and in what way.
