Anahata, in Sanskrit en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AnahataApparently, since this is the central chakra, it really is central to our well-being and the health of the planet (ideally, we all have strong heart chakras.) As I understand it, the heart is the bridge between the lower chakras of physicality and self, and the higher chakras that are more attuned to spirituality and the collective. According to the principles of yin and yang, yin is centrifugal and yang is centripetal. Without yin force, we would be squashed into the planet by gravity (yang force). These two forces are forming spirals, which explains the spiral patterning in so much of nature. Chakras are part of that spiralling. I'm just learning about this now, so I'm leaving notes and asking for information or resources, if anyone's got them handy. Thanks

I work with my chakras a lot, or rather I notice when I'm releasing mucky energy from them (or when I need to), and also when they're filled with light and doing well...but I haven't spent much time reading about them other than to find yoga positions that help open and clear certain chakras out. (How's that for a run-on sentence? ) It makes sense to me that our heart chakras connect our lower chakras to the higher ones, as it tends to pertain to love, joy, connection to Earth and living things. Alternatively, it can also store resentment, hurt, and anger. So if a person's heart chakra is bogged down with those energies it tends to clog up the energy flow to the higher chakras that allow for positive words, and a connection to our higher selves and God. That's my understanding, anyway. π

Ava , yes, the opening of the heart chakra in meant to be the gateway, as in an essential first step to spiritual advancement. Do you recall Linda Jones on LL? She wrote extensively about her experiences with the Kundalini in UC. I happened to post on her thread after a gap of a few months and she congratulated me for having opened my heart chakra. I was pretty impressed by her clairvoyance. She said, " ..that's what Kundalini does...as She rises She heals the Chakras and Nadis restoring the essential nature...love...and also self esteem by reducing fear ". From www.chakras.info/heart-chakra/, a succinct list: The Heart chakra is associated with the following psychological and behavioral characteristics: Capacity to love Integration, bridge between earthly and spiritual aspirations Transcending personal identity and limitations of the ego Experience of unconditional love and connection with all Heart-centered discernment Appreciation of beauty in all things Experiencing deep and meaningful relationships

@astrokeen
Yes, I've talked with and have a lot of respect for Linda Jones.
Can you think of a reason your heart chakra is open? Do you have a discipline that enables this, or are you naturally inclined to keep it open, it's something you've always done?
"yes, the opening of the heart chakra in meant to be the gateway, as in an essential first step to spiritual advancement."
Thank you -- it makes sense. I feel spiritually open-minded but I'm aware of lingering in a vibration that is not as high as it should be.

Recently I had lunch with my friend who was telling me that a certain friend of hers (Scorpio stellium) always hugs her tightly, chest to chest, for a full five seconds because that allows enough time for the hearts to form energetic bonds. I was looking into this and researching heart chakras after that, trying to determine what's the matter with me.
Then I gave my 7 year-old son a long hug goodnight, heart to heart, on purpose. I think I always hug him this way but I was deliberately trying to get our hearts to communicate.
He pulled away and looked at me with big, sad eyes. "Mom, I feel your pain." He's got a Pisces ASC conjunct Jupiter-Uranus, but that's not typical for him to say. I said something like, "I know my emotions affect you," and he clarified, "No I actually FEEL your pain." I asked what he thought I was in pain about and he said, "You lost your family...the family you were born into. It hurts you a lot. I can feel that."
I hadn't even been thinking of my family, as I was trying to figure out what is wrong with my heart. He's the one who brought it to my attention. I don't consciously feel pain about that, typically. I'm used to it. But maybe he's right. It's just so uncanny, his timing there.
Since I can't really re-connect with my family I don't know how to fix that. Maybe put together photo albums, be more active in remembering my past....not sure.

Ava, i had no idea of the condition of my heart chakra - I can't feel things as sensitively as you do. The change that occurred in my life which may have contributed to it opening was becoming more open to possibilities with regard to relationships - getting out of my box of preconceived notions, which amounted to letting go of fears. Linda Jones actually ascribed this change to a kundalini activation that was doing its work. What your son said to you is amazing. He seems to be your guide, or your guides are speaking through him. I would like to do a healing for you sometime later this evening. If you do sense a shift, please take note of the time it occurs and let me know.

Ava , I wonder if the repitition of the seed mantra for the heart chakra may help. "What is Bija Mantra? Bija means seed. βThe Bija mantras are one-syllable seed sounds that, when said aloud, activate the energy of the chakras in order to purify & balance the mind & body. When you speak the bija mantras, you resonate with the energy of the associated chakra, helping you focus upon your own instinctive awareness of your body & its needs.β Here's a link - www.mindbodygreen.com/0-5930/The-Transformative-Powers-of-Bija-Mantra-Meditation.htmlThe seed mantra for the heart is 'Yam'. Pronounced 'yum'.

Ava, it does feel sort of the way that you described, as far as I'll notice an unpleasant emotion come on really strongly, or memories. Maybe a sudden wave of anxiety, fear, anger, etc for no apparent reason, sometimes paired with memories of certain people or times in my life. Then it almost feels like a sinus buildup (it's not my sinuses, lol). I find that it seems to well up around my crown chakra, and then release. Sometimes from my face, even (we can store energy in some weird places, I've noticed). Like a pressure that builds up and then releases, and I suddenly feel much more at peace, more awake. If the energy is centered around a certain chakra I can sometimes feel like a weight has been lifted from that area. I often have what feels like a hard knot in my stomach or solar plexus chakra, and sometimes that eases up with the energy release. My heart chakra feels less "tight". My chakras are also closed sometimes, which I find exasperating. The buildup of daily stress can do that, I think...in addition to not releasing those feelings promptly. I'll come back to add more as my morning brain fog clears. π

Ava, that's truly amazing that your son said that. How wonderful that he's so connected, both to a higher knowledge and also to you. π As I've been releasing a lot of energy today (but often getting interrupted, unfortunately), it occurred to me that I could describe it as a tingling sensation in my face or crown chakra, and then what I can only describe as "muck" energy flowing from my lower chakras out through my crown or my third eye. I'm not sure why it releases from there, but sometimes it releases from the back of my head as well. I'm pretty sure I was starting to experience this before I actively started seeking energy healing, because I can remember feeling this sensation over ten years ago, and wondering what it was. It hadn't occurred to me that it was spiritual/energetic.

When energy releases from my heart chakra and it opens up, I'm flooded with love and joy. I suppose that's how I know when it's open, or has become unclogged so to speak.

AvaI have read your story. It reminded me of my search to find out about my family tree and the roots. Sometimes I wonder whether my daughter or son is more connected to me. I guess it is their team work to show me the good things in live and how to improve myself. My son drew yesterday a picture and I had to smile, because the root of the tree was laaaaaaaaaaaaaarge!!!

Somehow I missed the notice that you were doing a healing! Thank you for it, I'm sure it helped on some level. In recent days my energy has spiked upwards towards "joyful" and "well-adjusted" a few times. I wish I had taken note of the time. And I can imagine how a change of attitude towards relationships could be very healthy for the heart! If it's convenient, would you please explain more about the possibilities you became open to?

Violets, I really, really appreciate your detailed descriptions. It's so hard for me to know what people are talking about with the chakras, because I'm usually not finding those kinds of details. Bless your Virgo moon! Now you have me wondering about my own upper chakras and what they might be up to. I need to pay closer attention - I know my left side has energy issues. I've read that happiness resides in the left frontal lobe and that is where I am sluggish, maybe the medicine for that would be, finding more of my happiness. That is amazing, how the energy clears in your heart and brings you a sense of joy. I'm happy for you, that this happens! π I'm not sure what I would call the feeling when my heart opens. Maybe just "reality" ? I feel re-connected to reality, it's like a sense of belonging to this earth and all of life. So it gives a sense of home. It's a very deep feeling. I need to listen to @astrokeen's music because maybe it can match what I'm feeling, and describe it. I've been saving that music for when I felt ready for it; I want to believe music can heal, but I need to clear my own space first (inner acoustics ) to give it a good chance of working.

Ava , what you refer to as listening or, in other words, attending to your sensations is the essence of mindfulness. According to mindfulness, being present with the sensations that emerge should help to release anxieties and dissipate them - explained very well in this article on Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). It is suggested, however, that a switch needs to occur from the 'doing' mode to the 'being' mode - "A central tenet of MBCT is changing the mode of mind within which a person views their experience from problem solving or doing mode to an attitude of acceptance and exploration of body sensation (being mode)". More explained in the article. Does it resonate with you?
