Feel free to post and discuss any interesting examples. This morning I was looking at Lionel Messi's chart: www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Lionel_MessiAries NN square his Cancer sun and Cap Neptune...his movements seem borderline psychic, as he anticipates what his opponents will do next. NN ruler (Mars) conjunct chart ruler (Mercury) in Cancer. Thought, feeling, and action, all streamlined together.

Pelé's nodes are conjunct Messi's, but reversed: www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Pel%C3%A9Libra Mars conjunct NN exact. Both these players have Mercury as chart ruler, with angular Gemini moons.

North Node in the 1st House celebrities usually stand out for being original, trailblazers, one-of-a-kind. There is a uniqueness to them that others cannot match, sometimes just in terms of their sheer style and "look". Many of have very distinct personas that make them stand out or defy others' expectations. They're often revered for being true to themselves or being courageous, in some way.
Oprah Winfrey, Lana Del Rey, James Dean, Martin Luther King Jr., Billie Holliday, Nelson Mandela, Michael Jordan, Selena Quintanilla, Amy Winehouse, Sarah Jessica Parker, Jake Gyllenhaal

Okay I love this post on principal not just because I'm so into the nodes but because we're talking about football players! That's a rare topic on astrology forums imo.
It's pretty cool that Messi and Pele have reversed nodes as they're both quintessential South American football legends. Interestingly enough Argentina (Messi) is considered the ultimate rival of Brazil (Pele), and both are considered "the best to ever do it" in regards to football, though Messi has no World Cup titles to call his own.

Orson Welles always struck me as a personal propelled by destiny: Aquarius NN conjunct Moon and Uranus (in its home sign, no less) He shot to fame with his infamous War of the Worlds broadcast on radio. It was very meta. The intention was to relay news of an alien attack exactly as a radio broadcaster would have in "real time" - this sort of hyper realistic technique was hardly utilized before, maybe only seen in literature as a form of satire a la Jonathan Swift. Unsurprisingly, the people tuning into the broadcast at the time thought the alien invasion was real, and a brief bought of hysteria ran through the town that listened to it. Rising to fame as a pioneer of sci fi is just so.. perfectly Aquarius. Of course Orson Welles would go on to become one of the most famous film directors to ever live, his magnum opus being Citizen Kane. It was a spoof on the mega billionaire William Randolph Hearst, the Godfather of the "sensationalist headline" we all know so well today via newspapers (or, to use the more modern term, "click bait"/"fake news").

What is the significance of a direct NN? It was remarkable to find that a third of the top leaders of social justice movements that I included in my thread in Asteroids had a direct NN.

athena, it also appears that his NN was conjunct his Midheaven. That really plays into it, as well. The NN conjunct the MC or AC in the 10th or the 1st will really bring a lot of renown and recognition for that sign's traits or interests or abilities.

I was hoping to be surprising. That's a great observation about how the nodes are opposed, for the football heroes of opposing countries. I don't know much about the sport, I was just watching video clips yesterday. My parents were really into sports, so it's nostalgic for me to get into them once in a while.

Reggie Watts has a direct NN in Aquarius, and you get the sense that he's fulfilling an Aqua destiny very completely, with performances like this:
Could anyone be more Aquarian, really?
His NN conjunct my Mercury so I love this.
Anyway, perhaps the direct NN indicates a person who gets a very clear-cut sense of their individuality, and as they learn to honor that, they see how all people deserve to be treated as individuals, not controlled by unjust laws.

I love the Orson Welles analysis, athena. Thank you! 10H Jupiter Pisces trine 2H Cancer Neptune...making dreams seem real (earth sign house, tangible realities) OR possibly forecasting something in a distant time.

Ava , wow, I`ve never seen it like that! But in a way, well I guess I am expressing my NN with having become a teacher (not just astrologically of course, but in real life, though I consider myself more as a guide of personal development really. I mean I am not manipulating my pupils, and I am always saying that it is my opinion when I say something, but there is a power in dealing with so many young people, you can`t help it, you influence them in a way, some of them at least, and of course they influence me, it is a two-way-scenario of course, but I guess I do leave a bit of an imprint of the values I hold close, and a certain hostility towards a certain President. lol sorry but I couldn`t stay neutral about that last november, and there were a lot of debates held in many classrooms I am sure). But so I guess, that is where my NN comes in, and its dispositor is in 3rd house anyway. so it fits.
