Do you have any experiences with this sound?

I described my experience here: astrogarden.proboards.com/thread/530/spiritual-awakenings-transits?page=1&scrollTo=10386The reason I put this in Mystery and not Spirituality is because I consider OM more of a phenomenal reality and fact, and secondly, I don't know why life is this way. Third, I should probably make a diligent study of it, so why not here? Edit: Oh and the reason I was so taken with that video is because I wondered if the reason the baby calmed down was because he or she recognized the sound, either from the womb or the cosmic womb....like hearing a mother's heartbeat calms a baby...perhaps this is another "parent" sound...reminiscent of where we came from.

Thank you Ava for another interesting topic. It absolutely belongs to this section. I saw this video a while ago, but unfortunately it was after my baby was too big to be impressed by it. I'll try again when he has one of his "moments". I probably need to work on it before though, cause I'm quite tone-deaf "Oh and the reason I was so taken with that video is because I wondered if the reason the baby calmed down was because he or she recognized the sound, either from the womb or the cosmic womb....like hearing a mother's heartbeat calms a baby...perhaps this is another "parent" sound...reminiscent of where we came from." I agree with this. It's quite similar to white noise, which I used a few times when my baby was crying. He used to sleep very bad, waking up around 4 times per night up untilh turned 1y2m, so we were very desperate for any help. Violets you have a younger baby than me, have you ever tried a white noise or sound of OM before?

Also, I've never realised this symbol stood for Om. I see so many tattoos, bed-throws, etc.
"AUM or Om (Sanskrit: ॐ) is a sacred sound and a spiritual icon in Indian Dharmic religions. It is also a mantra in Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism." I don't think everyone who tattoos them actually fully understand it.

midnight, no I've never tried that with him. I've never really spent much time contemplating Om, to be honest. Definitely an interesting topic, and some interesting thoughts and experiences being discussed. ❤

I agree, I think it's a deep subject and probably most people relate to it more in a symbolic or even pop-culture sense? The symbol often appears in the crown chakra illustrations: It's confusing to me, how the Eastern religions converge and overlap. I think I was never taught that in school, so the extent of it still surprises me. === Watching this I was reminded of the OM experience I had...because of the formation of concentric circles, which I experienced as a tunnel... From the video description: "Cymatics is the study of the effects of sound vibrations on physical matter. When I was introduced to the pioneering work of Dr. Hans Jenny in 1977, it provided the visual evidence that proved the physical power of sound and music. This study has always been a featured part of my lectures and workshops. Now, with 'sound made visible,' it was possible to demonstrate astonishing effects on solids, liquids and gases. John Stuart Reid and Erik Larson improved upon Dr Jenny's tonoscope with their new CymaScope (TM) When we met at a Cymatics Therapy Conference, John offered to see what images the recording I made in 1981 while I chanted Inside the Great Pyramid would produce. As you will see, and hear, the results were simply amazing."

Ava , the chanting inside the pyramid is amazing. The similarities between Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism are to be expected. Buddhism and Jainism could be regarded as offshoots of Hinduism, as it were, but with different Gurus and divergent beliefs, so to speak. The terms used are often the same. Hinduism is at least 4500 years old and takes many forms - there is a branch where all gods and idol worship are regarded as complete nonsense, rather meditation and belief in the universal soul are the way.

I need to re-read this thread and re-watch the videos. I'm due in a week. If the baby will be anywhere close to my son's sleeping habits, I better get prepared.

I second that! All good wishes for you, your baby and family midnight! 🙏 And thank you for explaining, @astrokeen. "there is a branch where all gods and idol worship are regarded as complete nonsense, rather meditation and belief in the universal soul are the way." This is the Way that I would like to travel.

I just tried Om video on my restless 2 week old. I've tried white noise, womb sound, singing... Nothing worked, she just wouldn't stop crying, probably due to bring overly tired. Then I remembered about Om. I'm so happy it has worked, she literally stopped crying, rolled her eyes and fell asleep within a minute.
