I'm keenly interested in draconic charts and draconic transits, so it bothered me that I only use this information in a limited way: while I know my draconic chart's placements, I haven't attained much clarity on the overall layout. This thread aims to achieve more understanding.
Draconic transits are a bit more challenging to keep track of than tropical transits, because the node is usually moving. Therefore, even if an outer planet is stationary direct on the same degree for several weeks, it will be moving in draconic.
The north node moves at varying speeds. Usually it's retrograde but it can be direct. It can remain in the same place for months, but usually it doesn't. One's north node placement determines their own personal zodiac, ie the draconic chart. Because it's so personalized, using the moving NN in lieu of the fixed Aries Point, one might say, the draconic chart shows where you begin. Your NN is the beginning of the zodiac year: you set out from that starting point. It makes sense that the NN is equated with the Dragon's Head, which eats...because once you begin life, you need to start using your head, to breathe and eat. When you are born, you must consume, in order to live and grow. The NN is that consumer. WHAT it consumes, metaphysically, will have something to do with where it is, relative to the tropical zodiac.
To illustrate....my true NN is fortunately @ 20.00 Scorpio. (Really, it's not "fortunate" except it makes the following list look precise.)
For me:
0°00 Aries (draconic NN) = 20°00 Scorpio (natal NN)
This framework/dual dial/ "secret decoder ring" emerges from that juxtaposition, where each degree is associated with another:
DRACONIC = TROPICAL
0° Taurus = 20° Sagittarius
0° Gemini = 20° Capricorn
0° Cancer = 20° Aquarius
0° Leo = 20° Pisces
0° Virgo = 20° Aries
0° Libra = 20° Taurus
0° Scorpio = 20° Gemini
0° Sag = 20° Cancer
0° Cap = 20° Leo
0° Aqua = 20° Virgo
0° Pisces = 20° Libra
More context, the four cardinal Aries Points at a glance:
0° Aries (associated with ASC) = 20° Scorpio (my NN) - my own personal "vernal equinox"
0° Cancer (IC) = 20° Aqua - my own "summer solstice"
0° Libra (DSC) = 20° Taurus - my "autumnal equinox"
0° Capricorn (MC) = 20° Leo - my "winter solstice"

My tropical sun is @ 15 Capricorn. As you see, in my own draconic scheme, 20° Cap is 0° Gemini. My sun is 5° before 20° Cap, so my draconic sun @ 25 Taurus. Simple math, but it's hard to write it down in a way that showcases the simplicity.
Now, what about the reverse?
Using these reference points, I can quickly determine that my own tropical sun @ 15° Capricorn has a draconic association with 5° Virgo, because as you see above, 0° Capricorn = 20° Leo. If you add 15° to both, you get 15° Cap = 5° Virgo.
I do not have any planets @ 5 Virgo natally. What I've just laid out shows that if I did have a 5° Virgo planet, it would fall exactly on my tropical sun, in draconic. I can see this clearly with asteroids: my Hypnos @ 5° Virgo becomes 15° Cap Hypnos, draconic placement.
Now, only when the transiting NN is exactly conjunct my natal NN will transits apply so that whatever is transiting @ 5 Virgo will be right on my sun in draconic. This is not a universally-applicable and usable transit scheme. However, it may have meaning just on its own (just like anything else can, if we want it to.) Also, if our NN is tightly conjunct someone else's, these "game rules" apply, a sort of like-for-like degree exchange. Furthermore when the NN is transiting square to ours, or opposite to it, the resonance comes up strongly again.
Therefore, when the transiting NN hits my SN @ 20 Taurus (exactly two years from today), my draconic zodiac functions again, only it's upside down, so to speak: the NN is transiting on my SN, so 5 Virgo becomes 5 Pisces. I tinkered around and found that Vesta will be transiting @ 5 Pisces in tropical. Draconic Vesta will be transiting at 15 Cap.
I assume there is interpretative value in mapping out the relationship between the trpical and draconic when we were born. Automatically I can spot things I wasn't seeing before, such as the fact that my south node has an association with 0° Libra, where my mother's draconic Saturn was.

If you were born when the nodes were at a virtual standstill, many people born around the same time as you will have a similar draconic zodiac. Even if their placements are different, the draconic zodiac is the same, it's not as individualized as it normally is. I assume there might be greater potential to find unity within this soul-group, because all the "personal zodiacs" (draconic zodiacs) are One. For the duration of a nodal standstill, the draconic is functioning like the tropical, with its fixed Aries Point. My guess is, this indicates a period of time where greater incarnation is possible, where the spiritual nature of the draconic is more accessible, just as the tropical is more accessible to our consciousness.
I mean, if the draconic is behaving like the tropical, I don't know what other conjectures to make. But this is pretty obscure and not essential to my basic exploration here.
