I've never really done tarot, but I've been watching videos by Ellen Goldstein: I'm optimistic I might be able to learn her system, as it's partly based on the zodiac. That can help me remember. www.tarotica.net/the-minor-arcana.htmlwww.tarotforum.net/showthread.php?t=66624Putting the two diagrams together, we see that the two of wands corresponds to Aries Mars, three of wands is Aries sun, four of wands is Aries Venus...and so on. Wondering if anyone else uses this system? Any thoughts?

As far as I know do some people use it to determine personality traits of a chart in a reading.
Personally I use this system for timing in Tarot.
If you want you can try it with the following question: What is the major zodiac influence in my progressed astrology chart?

That's a very organized way of looking at it (my Virgo Venus really digs it). Me, I mostly go by elemental associations and then some "planet in sign" specifications. For instance, 9 of wands to me is very much Saturn in Sag energy. Sometimes, the cards show up as the energy of a planet itself (the Tower can be all things Mars, or all things Pluto - depending on the spread). I'll try to put some of these on paper when I can.. Some of these you'll find online, some I just "go by feel". (Not recommending that as a way to study, these are just thoughts after reading the meanings and having them show up in different ways). Sorry, my mercury is far too subjective. At any rate, I'm not very good at Tarot, so it doesn't really matter..

12YearsABlobI've been hoping that if I ever get into tarot for real, those types of associations will come together for me naturally as well. In some cases I just have a prejudice against certain placements, which creates some resistance in accepting what this lady (featured above) says about the card.

^ Right, yeah.. Mine are not necessarily "right", so don't go by those. I always google and get second, third, fourth opinions.. And sometimes I don't know what to think even after reading a dozen interpretations.

You know, here's my doubt with the whole concept of astrological correspondence... Some cards seem faithful to their astrological attributions, but a lot of them seem to have meanings that differ significantly from their astrological stereotypes.. Even when they're faithful to a particular placement, their meaning stretches beyond what we consider the definition of that placement (or so it seems to me). So, the astrological symbolism is attractive as a jumping off point, but it leaves me wanting in terms of fully explaining the meaning of the card.
For instance, the two of wands is usually attributed to Mars in Aries. If I roll with that assumption, this should be a much more dynamic and decisive card. Instead, it has the *potential* for that kind of action, but no real action. Which does not sit well with my view of Mars in Aries. However, if I simply look at it's underlying theme as fire, specifically cardinal fire - then it makes sense. When you do your experiments and pull cards, let me know how you feel about this... (Direct correspondence vs broader underlying theme.)
