By "touchy" I mean that if they're affected by the slightest transit, or when that planet is transiting, making an aspect to something in the chart, it's felt more than any other planet?

I don't know. I usually feel Mars much more than I am now, and I don't know what's changed, unless it's the trine from Saturn to my Sun. I'm afraid of irritating others, though, so I'm mostly keeping quiet (and I'm sorry if I've inadvertently bugged anyone).
About a month ago, something was winding me up. I felt like I couldn't do anything right. For a few months now, I've thought about shutting down all social media, and just trying to sort my head out, but I'm alone most of the time, and this is most of my social life (sadly).

Might be just a personal reaction.
or astrologically speaking could be that the planet is at a "hot spot", either you have many planets at these degrees, or quite the opposite the planet is sticking out like a sore thumb. Could be the focal point of relevant midpoint pictures, esp. if the planets in the midpoints also aspect each other in your chart or in the sky.
Could be conjunct an angle or Vertex, or even ruling an angle, though possibly being physically on an angle or exactly square it might be more energetic.
could be prominent through progressions, or through another person`s chart (if THEY put their luminaries or angles on that planet).
my Saturn is a sore thumb planet, I have a few other planets at 17 degrees but other signs (Moon and Juno). it is widely conjunct Vertex (4 degrees), but I think more than that it is the ONLY planet in the Western hemisphere. Everything gets channelled through this, so there is no way I could overestimate its impact really.
It is also temporarily made even more prominent as my pr DESC is applying to an exact conjunction with pr Saturn (in april) and will then go on and apply to conjunct natal Saturn in about 4 years I think.
Not to mention my Saturn has been and is still being targeted and tested by pretty much everything.
I am only glad it is nowwhere near making squares to my luminaries. lol

could be prominent through progressions, or through another person`s chart (if THEY put their luminaries or angles on that planet). This has been the case for me in the past. Someone specific had their progressed Venus conjunct my Sun, and their progressed Sun conjunct my Moon/Venus/SN. It started out positive, finished negative, and we've had no relationship since their progressed Sun was conjunct my vertex.

anela , I am sorry it finished negative. But actually that is what I have seen happening rather often, that once progressions fade away, esp. great ones, the relationship fizzles out, too, and often cannot be brought back to life again as it was, the positive relationship I mean. People in very longstanding relationships often seem to have perpetual progressions, when one thing fades, another one comes in. Oh and while we astrologers tend to focus on the good ones, I think it is worthwile to keep an eye on those not so nice ones as well. I have seen a Mars-Pluto-square or Mars-Saturn-square in progression creating real havoc, and that was while there was some really nice Venus-progression going on, too. It seemed to have the breakup and ensuing hostility just harder, because the feelings were there, but turning antagonistic and hostile. Not saying Mars-Pluto or Mars-Saturn is ALWAYS like this. I am sure some people can work with those energies (but cannot think of many who really can from the top of my head honestly). And I know people like Basil Fearrington or Noel Tyl (whom I appreciate as astrologers btw) say that secondary progressions are nothing worth because the outer planets move ever so slowly, but I have noticed the opposite to be true. Just wait until a personal planet moves into exact square or conjunction or even trine with an outer planet. It will show!

Hm. Most of my planets are found around 5-14 degrees, with only Mars and Jupiter at 26 and 25.
I've not noticed that my Jupiter is easily annoyed, but if anything touches my Mars, or if transiting Mars touches anything it's far more obnoxious than Pluto or Uranus could think to be. The same for synastry, but I suppose that's true for most people.
I find Saturn difficult, but I've seen some hard transits to/from Saturn in the past years that have been basically fine.
My natal Mars is exalted at an allegedly critical (26) degree, does that matter? Are critical degree planets touchier?

I suppose so. Other planets in my chart or transiting really don't annoy me nearly as badly. They can be obnoxious, yes, but Mars is just...ughhh.
Maybe because it's a bit irritating to begin with, and I'm not personally familiar with anything bothering my Mars much in my natal (I have the square to my Scorpio IC/Uranus...which can really explode), but that's it, other than a sextile to Jupiter. Hm.

Violets, (Hey! ) I think it's just Mars being Mars... But, in your case it does actually have more of an "oomph" because of the square to Uranus. That's really not negligible! I've noticed for myself that transits to my Mars are also quite noticeable compared to other planets (like say, Venus); and it's most probably because Mars is so "touchy" in and of itself, it's hot and it burns! However, there are other things in the chart that can be felt greatly, specifically the planets that are heavily aspected or that rule several important things in a chart (like the ASC ruler, especially if it also rules/disposits a luminary and/or Node, etc).

Ah, thanks Doux. So nice to have you in here! Yes, my Sun can be touchy as well, I suppose as chart ruler and all. Saturn a bit, but mostly I feel Mars the most. Like "Don't touch my effing Mars!" I guess I'm not the only one, eh?

That's how it feels, hahaha. I'm honestly really shocked when I see the charts of some of our members/friends on here, and how much their placements hit my Mars or Pluto with hard aspects, and we're actually friends who don't want to kill each other.

Perhaps if you had to be around each other a lot IRL (as in, living together or working together) it'd be different... *gasp*But it's usually easier in friendship anyway (phew!). Although I've had some pretty good examples of problematic Mars aspects (in synastry) gone wrong... Hopefully things will remain friendly here, though.

Oh yeah, people I've been friends with online for years now, but had never really looked at their charts. But yes, I'm sure if we lived together it would be very different. Sometimes, synastry like that makes me wonder about asteroids a bit. But definitely, real life vs interacting online are undoubtedly very different!
