Over the past few years I notice my hair gets thinner, more of it seems to fall out during my cycle.
I was diagnosed with vit d deficiency laat year, im not deficient anymore but wonderes if that contributef to it.
My iron levels are within normal range but i still think they are too low(last year my ferritin was 30 and now its 42), wondering if even though its in normal range is it the cause. Hormones all fine. I do wash it every morning but iv always been doing that..
Just wanted to ask any one had similar issues with their hair?
pls dnt quote

inhumanexperiment.blogspot.com/2009/09/capsaicin-and-soy-isoflavones-grow-hair.htmlI found that article when I was upset about hair thinning after having a baby. Eventually I stopped taking the soy, but I have capsaicin just about every day, via hot pepper (flakes, hot sauce, jalapenos). My hair is pretty thick again. I always mention this same thing. Have you thought of shampooing less or with different shampoo? Good luck! <3

I have the same problem. I bought a kit of Nioxin shampoo, condoned, and serum - way too expensive, so I'll have to skimp elsewhere. I tried it last year, but didn't buy any more. I'll give it one more go.
I'll have to cone back. Cramping up like mad right now, because I ate something heavy. Stupid of me.

If you are from the north of england then everyone is vitamin d deficient. I try to use as many natural oil products on my hair after my hairdresser taught me a few things about cheap drugstore shampoos. my hair always goes dry and frizzy at the ends its so annoying. I have tried vitamin supplements too but it seems that i am just too northern haha! feel better soon anela!!

Thanks all! Someone recommeded baby shampoos as well if you are washing daily because it would be more gentle on the scalp. I cant leave the house without washing it, i feel bleh if I dont. FL im Irish I know too well about not getting enough sun haha. I have been taking supplements and they have worked well for me for vit D. My Iron is on the low side of normal tho i read that affects hair too. Hope you feel better anela! Pls dnt quote

Thank you. Still cramping, but more awake than last night.
I've heard that molasses can help with the iron, and someone I knew said that drinking nettle tea, stopped her hair falling out, and it's the thickest it's ever been. I don't like nettle tea, so I might take the liquid supplement, or mix it with other things.
I used to take flax oil in food, at least a few times a week, and my hair was easier to work with. I need to start taking it regularly again. I'm trying to remember what else others have recommended. Spirulina and chlorella.

I'm not sure what to think about this Nioxin. I'm not using it every day - I'm alternating with a much cheaper shampoo and conditioner, my usual.
I don't like the stuff they have in the smaller bottle, to put on/over your hair, after you've washed it. It's supposed to go on the scalp and over the hair, to protect and strengthen, but it leaves it feeling hard (as if it has something sticky in it), and I think I'm losing more hair when I comb in my conditioner. Not so much today, but whenever I use the Nioxin. I can't afford to spend $40 on shampoo and conditioner, as it is, not all the time, so I hate to think that it might be making things worse.
I'm thinking about getting a liquid Nettle supplement tonight, if I go out, since I don't like the tea. Maybe that will help. I know that my stomach problem has something to do with this - my hair has always given me some trouble, but it's been worse the past four years, from stress as well as less nutrition, and hydration (I wasn't even keeping water down, for a while there, and now drink it until I stop getting sick). I'm thinking about trying to get spirulina in me somehow, every day, as well. There was a long thread on a hair care forum that I found, about spirulina and chlorella.

Hope you've gotten good results, vg. I just learned about black castor oil, seems to work for a lot of people. One YouTube lady I watch puts it on her eyebrows and eyelashes, too. She says it definitely, noticeably helps.

Hey Ava not been on very much lately. I can't say if it worked or not or would have done, to be honest i think my hair thinning issue is more to do with my iron intake. I've been looking at my recent pictures of myself and my hair is even thinner than before. I read that the body prioritises where nutrients go and the hair is the last place. My iron levels have not been at an optimal level for years, they have been at "normal" level whatever that means. Now they are much lower than before and i have to take supplements. Preganancy increases blood volumne and baby gets the nutrients too. So im thinking its more related to that, but i also think its related to the hardness of the water too(so when baby is born we'll see how my hair growth is after using the shampoo). Read that things like black tea contain tannins which inhibit iron absorption, so giving it a miss now. Pls dnt quote
