In vedic my Asc is in Libra and Venus is in my 5th house. It sounds nothing like me.

Mine wasn't very relatable, but Moon in 2nd house is a little weird anyway. I am very attached to my possessions, though. Random possessions, important only to me for my reasons. Not materialistic possessions, so I suppose a little of that fits.

There are so many qualifying factors that it seems almost impossible to determine whether the planet will play out well or poorly.
I was reading about Obama's Lagnesha (Saturn in the first house) and it's amazing to me how the analysis comes together. It seems like for every special yoga that might apply and provide luck, there must be others that undo all that again. (?)
It's so complex even at the beginner level.

Hmm - Lagnesha in the 12th for me. The description on that site fits. Thanks for the link! I'd like to read more...

Update: I calculated wrong, and also had the wrong birth time I think (back then)?
Mine would be in the 1st, not 12th. I can attest to the self-sufficiency part - well, on some levels.
Not sure if it would be considered 'afflicted' traditionally, due to the squares to other planets, including a malefic. Maybe that's why it doesn't feel as great as the description says. Although I wish there were more of a description before the examples. The writer seems to take it for granted that we know what the benefits/drawbacks are. Well, he does mention them in passing..
Concluding the same way as before, I should probably read more.

Exactly..for instance, they say that having a planet in the "fall" in an angular house can not only ameliorate the flaws of that placement, but also bring out some unique qualities that strengthen it.
I have that placement, btw (Saturn in the 1st), except in Capricorn.
P.S. I'm not sure what Vedic says about co-rulers.. #GottaRead

Well I calculated my Vedic chart online and it gives me a Gemini ASC (basically my whole chart is backwards haha) with Mercury in the 12th... In Tropical my ASC lord is in the 11th so I'll read both... Both sort of fit, but I'd say the 11th house fits better. In fact tropical astrology generally fits better for me, but I also haven't looked too much into Vedic because I find it to be a quagmire of confusion every time I do ahaha! Then again, the 12th house scares me too, always has, so maybe I'm just hoping the 11th fits better

well one can`t interprete a vedic chart with the tropical astrological rules in mind. That is where most astrologers create the chaos between vedic/western astrology. It`s very different branches, with different rules and symbolisms. I prefer to stick to western most of the time though to not fall into that trap myself. lol
