Ah yeah castes, another wonderful and uplifting part of Indian culture. They were supposedly abolished by the government a few years back but that fact seems to be lost on a lot of people considering how prevalent the classism still is there. Not to be ethnocentric or anything but stuff like that bums me out - the futility of it all. "This is what you are and this is what you shall always be - deal with it". This tone encapsulates so much of vedic lore (as you mentioned). Just my two cents here - I grew up in a city in India and was introduced to the notion of caste system in history books. There was no sense of people being discriminated against because of their caste, but I encountered this later in smaller towns. The majority of educated city dwellers would agree with you on casteism. There is, however, much in the news about prejudice in more provincial communities. There are also great divides in class and wealth, similar to that in the USA, for example, which keeps certain communities out of view. I too find the Vedic notion of Karma problematic - it is much too fatalistic - and prefer the new age beliefs that Karma is a mix of past experiences, lessons that failed or succeeded, skills acquired, which together contribute to the souls plan for this life. The soul makes enlightened choices rather than being driven by the weight of past karma.

Totally in agreement with you @astrokeen. My mom grew up somewhat well to do in Ahmedabad so she and her community were not subjected to the more rural caste upholdings. Just like in most industrialized cultures, socioeconomic status is king in India and determines class just as it does in the US and the UK.
I definitely align with your interpretation of Karma too. I've always been fascinated by vedic's positive view of the SN/ketu, but it does make sense if one believes in the utmost importance of past lives, honoring ancestors, etc. But I do like to think everything can be malleable according to the native's needs and desires.

It is weird, the way that the Nodes are viewed with the different cultures and charts. The probability, in my mind, is that none of us know what they're supposed to do. Maybe the Nodes are the religion of the charts, hahaha. No one actually knows wtf is going on, but we think we do. Edit-- I typed that after I read your comments, athena. Not directed at you, of course. Just me entertaining myself with my nerd humor.

That bothers and me too😕 anela !🌻 But, it is not trouth, that Moon - Venus in sidereal Gemini make someone with no soul. Just keeps the soul hidden, to protect her! Because Moon or Venus, (or whatever in sidereal Gemini), are very senstive and soft. But, such astrologers, do not know the difference between how to just interpret an aspect, and how to explain same aspect to a person. They just say to persons "you have no soul with this aspect in that sign" or "may you become insane, with this aspect in this sign, and people will run away, from you" Just like that! So simple! They are very negative, and frivolus, and their interpretations are full of generalities and clishe. With love💕 Lionmind2

I just remember really awful interpretations. A friend from a different astrology board, who I’ve known for about a decade, she’s into Vedic and offered to tell me something about my chart. I need to check my messages. She was talking about ketu dominance, and I asked if that would apply to me, because of my conjunction.
