I figure, if we all discuss our Nakshatras, it will be a good start to learning ALL the Nakshatras. Here's a video series: www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD5LEONCRgUrAgQirTBLHB80JE8FF5_I2=== My Nakshatra is Purva Bhadrapad (Aqua-Pisces cusp). I took notes on his video and will share them, partly for educational purposes, partly to gratify my ego. Trust me, some astrologers really take a dim view of this Nakshatra. So I'm beginning with the pleasantries.... Most of this is verbatim, using his actual words: Purva Bhadrapad
- 25th Nakshatra, "Blessed Feet" - Kumba to Meena - Seem carefree, relaxed, laid back, seem like they don't have any problems. "Cool" and problemless, regardless of whether they have them or not. - Good sense of emotional control. They don't get angry fast. They understand the meaning of emotions, they respect them. - Soft-spoken, mild-mannered, charming personality, sweet words....always attracting opposite sex, magnetic appearance and behaviors, strong interests in aesthetics. Open-minded, broad-minded, sociable. Party people, can mix with all walks of life. Strong benevolence. Charitable, will do anything and everything to help. Naturally giving and kind. - They don't get angry easily but when they do, all hell breaks loose. Also very stubborn. Soft-spoken but can't be manipulated. In a conversation, you will enjoy talking to them, normally they tend to have an 50/50 answer. They practice striking a balance there. - Religious, once they reach adulthood - Encouraging, exhilarating, adventuresome....love nature, swimming, mountain climbing, getting outside. - Risk takers, not on the usual path.

That part about religion is so true of me, I couldn't get over it. I was a pothead in college and a few years later, always reading the Bible. My friends were all super confused, just as the astrologer says. But it all ties together for me....just two different ways of seeking answers. Edit: The moon is currently in this Nakshatra, as I write.

Mine is Sravana/Shravana/Sharavan - It is ruled by the Moon
- Its Hindu diety is represented by Vishnu - a type of all knowing protector of the Universe, a Creator
- Degree range is 10.00-23.20 Capricorn
- A dedication to spirituality and reverence for holy places seems to be a major tenant of this nakshatra ("highly religious")
- Tallness and leaness is cited by many websites as a typical physical appearance
- Married life is estimated to be good by several vedic websites (can't speak on that yet)
- "The Shravana constellation is not favorable for rearing children, from whom they derive little happiness." (Source)
- "You will have happiness from children and probability of having a daughter especially elder daughter is very high. You will progress a lot after the birth of your daughter." (Source)
- Muhammed Ali and George Lucas are typical Shravana natives. Also includes Charles Manson.
- "Those born under Shravana constantly seek wisdom and often travel to foreign countries to further their education" (Source)

Mine is Dhanishta, though using a different AYanamsa it falls into Shravana; however I think most use Lahiri, right? So it would be Dhanishta.
Hmm, I don`t really have that many friends though.
But it is true that the most profound insights I really get from interacting with people.

Mine is Magha. I have a Leo Moon and Cancer Asc in Vedic. Not sure what that means yet, though...

Going by the chart telling me that I'm a 0*Aries Sun in Vedic, I guess I'm Ashwini? Ruled by Ketu. That doesn't sound good. Well, I'm off to a good start.
I haven't watched the video (yet) - I googled Aries and Nakshatra.

athena , So you are a Capricorn! I thought I was a Sagittarius (my sun) but now I see, it would be Aquarius (moon). Thank you, the beginning of that video is a good introduction to the concept of Nakshatras. Hope no one minds if I take additional notes. As I was saying on another thread, that's how I learn. Taking notes/re-copying notes/repeating things. My Gem Mars wants to hear everything at least twice. Sravana/Shravana/Sharavan
- Good listeners/learners, with good memories. They learn to grow. When a Cap gives you advice, it's to trigger something within you; they are good counselors. Nourish in a practical way. - Preserve knowledge, make good historians, archaeologists. - Mother might be too mothering, too long, keep them as a child...so they go out to the world teaching people not to be that way. "Be more practical." ๐

lumina Yes, I think they use Lahiri. Have you looked at both Nakshatras to see if either suits you better? Side note: I love Kapiel's watches. Dhanishta- Mars rules the Nakshatra: drums or flute symbol. Deity of earthly abundance. - Rumor has it, the least amount of people have this Nakshatra. - These people are all about beating their own drum. Happy-go-lucky. Can come out of any adverse situation because Mars controls the sign and can fight through....but these people fight through in an easy-going way (with music). Fighting through to gain knowledge. - Social events, lots of friends...through making contacts with various people, they try to develop their mind. - Bubbly personality, make good and useful intellectual contacts. - In romantic relationships, they may come off like they don't really care as much...their version of a romantic situation would be to go out in a group setting...don't need all these intimate, private settings, like Cancer or Scorpio. Come off cold, not as attached. They want a relationship that can intellectually advance them, and also go out with their partner with other people. - Make good salesmen, love the public life, good at talking. - Good engineers (Saturn/metal with Mars). - Always positive, they won't show their mood swings, never seem depressed. - Good moon placement because if you go through a break-up, you won't feel that down. - Mars' willpower will help you come out of any situation.

Okay, wtf... The description of Magha does not resonate with me at all, lol. Affluence, easy path in life?! I could not be more opposite! ๐ My husband has money, lol. I work for non-profits and stay home with my kids. My life could not be described by any sane person as having ever been easy, or even holding an ounce of ease.
There must be something I'm missing there... ๐๐๐

So, uh... Hm. Maybe something offsets that in my Vedic chart?

anela Does any of that resonate? I think I see some of that in you. I was surprised because I was attributing it to other things. Krittika- Physically and mentally adventurous; love to go outdoors. Being dull feels like a huge sin to them. - They like to move and stay motivated. - Known for sharp words and actions. Tenacious, persistent until they succeed. - Should worship the deity (I can't spell it) that makes you crave adventure even better, do more truth-seeking. That was pretty short so here's KRS: - 26.5ยฐ Aries to 10.00ยฐ Taurus - Symbol is the knife, controlled by God of Fire - Blunt in their approach to life; very truthful. They will criticize. Sun is purest energy in Universe so they will tell it as they see it. May seem negative but remember, only through criticism do we become better. The bull is charging with truthfulness. - People in this Nakshatra make some of the best politicians, loved by people, because they tell the truth. The sun in this Nakshatra does very well. - Good leaders - Good cooks....critical of themselves, perfectionist, so they measure everything right and do it right. Ask for feedback, they don't need praise, they want a real critique so they can improve. Also good at crafts and designing. (Taurus ruled by Venus). Best at owning restaurants.

I seriously hope nobody minds my note-taking. It's just so I have an easy way to remember what was in the video. Otherwise I forget and would have to re-watch. Violets I'm watching yours next... Magha0.00-13.20 Leo - ruled by Ketu - Symbol is the royal throne ("That's pretty much where I sit every day." ) - Deity is your father figure - A very positive side of Leo; this represents a dignified side of Leo. Why did they assign Ketu to this? Because Ketu is about letting go of ego and embracing the true essence of the universe, which is spirituality. A King is somebody who is so naturally aware of his kingship that he doesn't have to go out looking for respect. They see villagers as their children. Using their power in the most positive form possible. - People who become CEOs, politicians, leaders of the community, have these kinds of constellations and thinking abilities. Not like the mafia. They have the most natural tendency to go out in the world and show who they are. Not like those people who want fame without having any talent. More like others who never asked for fame, but just by being themselves, they naturally came up on the "throne" of their field, like Bill Gates, Angelina Jolie, Amitabh Bachchan....it's easy for them to become famous. Automatically get the center of attention because they are charismatic and can differentiate themselves from other people, because of their talent.

Haha, because you are so confused I'm doubling up on yours:
Magha
- Very majestic, people born here seem very elegant. Reflects spiritual leadership. Magha literally means "The Great One." - Often seen with the latest and greatest things...moving forward in life. - Try to strike a balance between the material and spiritual - Important for them that they follow all cultures and traditions. Tends to be a focal point that they advocate. - Confidence and perfection are what they worship. They always seem confident, in whatever turmoil they are in. They inspire people because they show strong leadership qualities. - Special ability: to leave and re-enter body. Astral travel. Needs a lot of rigorous spiritual discipline. But then, if you have Magha, you don't have to be overly engrossed, it is effortless if you attempt it. - Lordship is Ketu, deity is "patrice" - departed forefathers....they are the ones who bless this Nakshatra. - Perform ____ (can't understand word) to assure you success and prosperity.
Note: I leave out critical parts if I feel like it.

This primarily makes sense to me in my field, yes. Otherwise...eh, I'm not sure. But at work, yes.

Holy crap, almost this entire description is completely spot on. Down to my health and family interactions, hair, and almost everything except that I've only had boys, no girls. www.indianastrologyhoroscope.com/MaghaNakshatra_Female.htmlI mean... I'm not a beautiful saint okay, and my life has not been easy or particularly comfortable for a good portion of it. It's true that my husband makes decent money (we're not rich, because we have kids and live in the Northwest, but he does well). A few things off, but mostly crazy accurate!

VioletsDhanishta for me is matching quite remarkably as well. well not saying I am really that beautiful sweet figure they portray this Nakshatra, but healthwise I do have a strong inclination for anemia for example. (which reminds me I gotte check my iron Level again. lol) and yes I tend to avoid thinking about my health, but most of the time Iยดve been quite lucky so far. Fingers crossed! www.indianastrologyhoroscope.com/DhanishtaNakshatra_Female.html
