It also brought up those family-memories, as my grandfathers were both Russian prisoners after world war II and one of them survived Stalingrad just barely and was lucky enough to get sick early on and got sent home by the Russians (later, I heard, sick people were simply shot or left to die).
And my great grandmother and grandmothers were refugees. As they were living where Poland is today, and they had to flee to the West, when the Russians invaded (my great grandfather apparently had told his wife, that either she was gone with the girls by the same evening or he would be shooting them himself, that is how scared he was about what could happen to them, should they fall into the Russian`s hands).
(obviously the historical origins are different; as of course Germany has started the war and has put soooo much guilt on them, still for the people who were running from the invader, it was the same).
Still with all that, and I am of course empathizing, I still think we have a right to live our normal life. In fact I think that by taking as much joy as we can out of what is left, we can build up the strength to take on whatever happens, one has to be stable and centred in their own life to be able to give support to other people. Just my opinion of course.
But I agree it IS so difficult,w hen it all weighs on our souls so heavily.

It's hard to guess what Putin's long-term strategy might be, if he even has one. My guess: building a huge and strong Russian empire, functioning as bulwark against the Western countries, and in particular against democratic systems. So if he succeeds with what he is doing in the Ukraine, I don`t think he`s going to stop there. The other Baltic nations that were formerly part of the Sovietunion are going to be next probably, and after that who knows? Maybe even Finland/ Sweden? Definitely Poland, and probably Eastern Germany? That is if he doesn`t destroy the whole world by unleashing the nuclear energy on it, he doesn`t even need to activate the Russian weapon systems, Ukraine has more than enough nuclear power plants, that if being brought to explosion, will at least annihilate Europe, or maybe not completely annihilate, but poison it and destroy it as an industrial nation. Well pardon my gloomy view, but my LR ASC is in Scorpio (and right on my sidereal ASC-stellium btw). Let`s all hope my guessing is wrong. Yes, and to the North he would continue to "liberate" Kaliningrad, and Moldova to the South. But he has no way to win this situation, imo. Hopefully.

Very interesting perspective LeeLoo , thanks. Have we addressed the fact that Zelensky's Libra NN and Pluto are conjunct Putin's stellium? www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Volodymyr_Zelenskyywww.astrotheme.com/astrology/Vladimir_PutinI'm curious about what's going on between Russia and China, though not curious enough to try and catch up on years of complex negotiations. I've read they may be working in tandem to withhold the raw materials needed for fertilizer from the West. Are they thinking of starving other countries into submission? Could a fertilizer shortage possibly encourage more widespread, natural farming methods (Taurus Uranus)? It's hard to guess what Putin's long-term strategy might be, if he even has one. There are discussions that Putin's disconnection with reality is so great that indeed it is possible this was more or less an impulsive gesture. I think one argument would be as to how likely it is for him not to be aware, information wise, of how Ukrainians are or would react (considering Orange Revolution, Euromaidan) and assuming they would just surrender. Not to mention total disconnection from current international mentality and goals and not being able to foresee how the world would unite. It seems unreal, but on the other hand, this is the fate of every dictator, who becomes increasingly alone, surrounded by people who never contradict him. This whole feels like a terrorist attack, with the whole world more or less hostage, not to mention the Russians. I think, hope, China has no interest in this war because they have no interest to disrupt their economic hegemony. I remember there was that experiment in the US (Sara Bongiorni) who tried to not use Made in China for a year and it was impossible. Everything is made in China. Back to astrology, this is Zelensky's chart. I kinda like that his Pluto/NN conjunct Putin's stellium, in terms of possibly dominating the energy. He has quite the histrionic chart, no wonder he is an actor Attachments:

I'm so sorry, LeeLoo . I can see that first link, but the second says, "novayagazeta.ru has a security policy called HTTP Strict Transport Security (HSTS), which means that Firefox can only connect to it securely. You canβt add an exception to visit this site." It's all scary. Difficult to just plod on with "normal" life with all this going on. Thank you, my dear <3 There is also a huge, unprecedented information war behind the scenes.

lumina I am sorry about it all. You are so right, we all must try to disconnect from the news now and then, even if it's hard, and keep a center of strength through joy, such wise words. I think all in countries formerly impacted by USSR are going through a revived PTSD right now.

Somewhat predicted by Maurice Fernandez (skip ahead to sections on Netanyahu and Israel):
^ Not promoting or arguing against his political opinions, but the chart explanations are on point.

Ava the news becomes worse every day. Juat heard that Israel bombed the main hospital in Gaza, where most patients were too ill to be moved and 100s were sheltering. The hospital had been running out of water and food. This is truly unbelievable. I was a little cheered to see American Jews surrounding the White House yesterday asking Biden not to support Israel the massacre in Palestine and, instead ask for water and electricity to be restored. Both Biden and Sunak are flying to Israel. Why? The message that conveys is that they support Netanyahu.

The US ALWAYS, ALWAYS supports Israel, @astrokeen . I'd say most of the Jewish population in the US are liberal Democrats and they tend to be anti-occupation. However many people in our government are not Jewish but dual US-Israeli citizens anyway. It's beyond my understanding.
I'm sure Israelis themselves are sick and heartbroken that there isn't a peaceful solution. There isn't and there can't be. Bombing a hospital...why?
Is that retribution for the hostages that weren't returned? I'll have to look into this.
My heart goes out to all who are suffering. May this hell on earth end soon.

Ava , there's an organisation "ifnotnow" which seems to be organising demostrations in Washington. I follow it on Twitter. twitter.com/IfNotNowOrgThe actor John Cusack is very vocal in denouncing Israel's actions and has a large folowing on Twitter. US and its allies have vetoed a UN resolution calling for cease-fire, revelaing a lack of humanity and complete disregard for the suffering of Palestinians.

I don't know if you can see this tweet @astrokeen.
Poll: Americans side with Israel
Anyone with a heart grieves the fact that the Gaza Strip is an open air prison; however, some Muslim laws and practices work against them winning broader public support. Also the recent terror attacks leave people wondering if Israeli Jews would ever be safe, if Palestinians were free to return to Israel. It's an impossible calculation as far as I can tell, and there doesn't seem to be a happy end in sight.

Ava, Palestinians have endured 75 years of persecution, being evicted from their homes and turned into refugees in their own country. That is what Zionism did. There is a group called Torah Judaism which opposes Zionism - twitter.com/TorahJudaism. They just posted this: Isreal is not a Jewish state Jews are not a nationality Judaism is an ancient religious collective. Zionism can never represent the Jews. The current Zionist state of Israel is not a safe haven for Jews but a country hostile to Jews. It is good to see that not all Jews support what Netanyahu's government is doing.

@astrokeen
I have battle fatigue from this topic because pretty much everyone I talk to defends Palestine unequivocally and I do think there are conversations to be had about the Jewish right to a homeland or safe haven --- I mean it's absurd to me that there are over 50 Muslim-majority countries that are allowed to be that way without criticism, yet ONE Jewish country is so vastly resented, despite the obvious cruelties inflicted on Jews through the early part of the 20th century (Ottoman Empire forbade them from owning land in Palestine; Mandatory Palestine GAVE Jews land; there was an explosion of the Palestinian population concurrent with Mandatory Palestine and indeed 75% of the population of Gaza City is under 25 years old now). Obviously many chapters in Israel's history are disastrous, but they often have a strong case for self-defense and desperation, not merely Zionist imperial ambitions. The Palestinians did want to annihilate them and they still do. Considering the fact that Jews were being expelled from surrounding countries around WWII and and had nowhere to go as refugees (I've seen figures as high as 800,000) EXCEPT to Israel, one honestly wonders what other solution was even available for them? This is for people who suffered extreme collective trauma. I'm amazed there seems to be no compassion for them, always cynicism and resentment.
Again I don't understand how the religion with a billion adherents occupying enormous geographical areas can accuse a much smaller religion occupying a teensy tiny land mass of being super greedy. Why haven't surrounding countries helped the Palestinians more?
Rhetorical questions. I keep studying the history of the area and reaching the same dead ends.
I do believe antisemitism accounts for some of the hatred of Israel to this day.
I believe there's also a critical value clash of modern versus archaic belief systems, democratic versus autocratic governments and so on.
This is all coming to a head.

Ava , people such as me, who come from distant lands, had no idea about anti-semitism till I moved to Europe, even though I had read Exodus by Leon Uris. I remember attending a party in my early days here where I met a man who, after speaking to me for a few minutes, told me (as if it was a confession) that he was Jewish. I found that odd and didn't understand why he needed to inform me about his religion. After all, no one else was admitting to being Christian, for example. It didn't make any difference to me that he was Jewish. Much later, when I read about Palestinian accounts that conflicted with the narrative of "Exodus", I began to view Israel as a colonising state. I think viewing the defence of Palestine as anti-semitism is often wrong. The two things can be entirely separate.

I think viewing the defence of Palestine as anti-semitism is often wrong. The two things can be entirely separate. True. However in my experience on another forum I noticed that they often do go hand in hand. For me it's nails on a blackboard to see a video beginning with a chapter heading "The Problem with Jews" which purports to be against Zionism but is actually outright bigoted in many ways, and I'm appalled to see so many people liking the video and seeing no problem with it. These are the same people defending Palestine now as a matter of course. Edit: It's not that I can't see certain problems with Israel or that I agree with their military strategy now and going forward without question or reservation -- there are extreme pro-Israel politicians in the US who are losing support for being this way, as I think they should. It's dangerous to US security for one thing. It's not for nothing thousands are chanting "Death to America" these days. www.axios.com/2023/10/20/biden-government-war-fears-israel-hamasBut it also seems inevitable. These seeds were planted a long time ago.
