12YearsABlob , thanks for responding. My comment may have sounded as if it was directed at members here, but I was speaking about the world in general. Thankfully, there are websites such as Twitter where one can encounter like-minded people and that lessens feelings of hopelessness and restores one's faith in the world. The comedian Alexie Sayle's Alternative Xmas Message was a cheering one, for example.

Everyone has their own way to go about it, and everyone`s opinion and decision matters and is valid imo.
However, honestly speaking, someone trying to pressure me into talking about a subject or expecting me to talk about a topic, esp. in public, I am either not comfortable to talk about or feel I can`t fathom and grasp and do it justice in its complexity (and to me it IS a complex matter, I know there is a lot of black and white statements about this, but personally, this is not me, not how I see things, though it does not really matter on a grand scale, how I see things, and as I see it, bringing up a statement about that topic first of all cannot do it justice, not if I do it on some social media platform, and secondly will just stir more drama, with some people applauding me cause I coincidentally match their view, and others condemning me for my ignorance or nastiness of whatever, and imo neither side would be entirely right.)
In short, what I dislike is the feeling as if I am HAVING to talk about something specific, jsut because other people think I should, those are actually People I probably wouldn`t want to be around a lot.
So I guess, this would actually match the twitter post, or x-post. The parting of ways would be pretty mutual in this instance I think.

lumina , I agree with this statement entirely - "In short, what I dislike is the feeling as if I am HAVING to talk about something specific, jsut because other people think I should, ... ". On the other hand, the situation in Gaza is so extreme, so hideous that an entire people are being obliterated with support from Western governments; the only reason people are not condemning it is because they don't know it is happening. There are no colours of complexities as far as I can see.

A lot of the posts I’ve seen, have been against the IDF, not Jewish people. I do talk about it, a bit, and I just shut down both anti-semitism and Islamophobia when I see it. Like at the other place, where a couple of people were giddy when the bombing started - they said Gaza should be wiped off the face of the earth - and then wanted schools like Harvard, shut down. The anti-education schtick, for people they don’t want to be educated. It’s like alt-right dreams are coming true (when a lot of them are also white supremacists - see the “unite the right” rally, January 6th, etc. I have Jewish friends who speak against what is being done to Palestinians, the most outspoken being a Capricorn with a Gemini moon. She has reminded me of Ava, in the past. The things she talks about, the people she quotes. She had a podcast, for a while. shorturl.at/xCJO0I have some trouble feeling happy, anyway, but I’ve stopped short of saying things like “I’m starving” because right at this moment, I will have access to food, thanks to my dad. I was doing this before the October 7th attack, after finding out how many hungry children there are in my county alone. Our financial state is the worst it’s been in a while, and that’s saying something, so I’m worrying about the animals, my dad, this tooth that semi-shattered last April (third one!), but I’m not currently being starved by assholes in governments, because of something I didn’t personally do. On the other hand, I saw people on twitter and IG (that I don’t know), telling others “who cares about your mental health?? People are dying!” I care about their mental health. I care about my own, when I’m not wishing I wasn’t here at all. I understand that it feels more urgent to some - and people being starved and denied freaking water, is something I would think would feel urgent to everyone - but it can also do you in, when you can’t personally do anything about it. This isn’t rage bait, it’s really happening (I could rage about what’s happening to women here, since roe was overturned - Texas deciding a woman should carry a dead baby to term, risking her own life, and her fertility, they are disgusting, and people who once cared, don’t pay attention anymore, and act like I’m insane - I’m not, but I know they just enjoy mocking me, so it doesn’t matter to me). A woman two hours from me, has been charged with abuse of a corpse, after miscarrying into a toilet, when the hospital sent her home twice, and did nothing more for her. Both sides are not the same - here. I have no doubt that trump would be even worse with what’s happening in the Middle East. I don’t understand the rising harassment of Jewish people. They can’t do anything about what’s happening, either. Since I know good people, I don’t know anyone who has been doing that. Either they haven’t said anything at all, or they’re so very kind, thoughtful, and sad. Angry, too. A man named Bryan behar, on twitter, who is a mutual follow, found a local deli had been vandalized. A place where his family had celebrated special occasions, their pictures were on the wall. Sorry for rambling. I just came here, to let a couple of people know that R. Just said that ami is fine. I was asked about her, last April, by two people at least. I was in my own personal hell, and hasn’t noticed anyone was missing. I don’t know what’s going on with her, but I’m glad she’s okay. I just woke up from a deep sleep, nightmares, to a voice urgently trying to wake me up. I said “what?” quietly, once, and then annoyed, much louder, “what??!” I woke up doing that, and then realized it was my mother’s voice. Anyway, this was a good read: charlotteclymer.substack.com/p/when-both-silence-and-statement-become

Wow I've interpreted a lot of the posts about Gaza as more about hating Israel than mourning the senseless loss of life, just because that's the common theme I'm seeing, plus there are so many tragedies happening all the time around the globe, and people are not paying attention to those. Just in the last month we've had massive slaughter in Burundi and Nigeria, recent slaughter in Uganda, a mass casualty event in Pakistan that got almost no attention, the ongoing atrocities in Yemen, the war in Ukraine... The whole world is falling apart. I'm seeing the Gaza disaster everywhere I look, and I am wary of the protests and fallout expanding into a violence all its own, so forgive me if I'm not posting about it here. I do not believe this is a fire we can extinguish with more fire. You are paying attention, I didn’t know half the things you mentioned, because a lot of people aren’t. I’ve been friends for years, with a former LL’er, who posts about some of them, but I’ve had a couple of people try to use these as a “gotcha” when they weren’t posting about them, either. It doesn’t work, when they weren’t trying to spread awareness, they just wanted to one-up. this isn’t directed at you, just them.

On another note, there are also alt-right idiots still pushing for a civil war, getting ready to rally in Columbus on January 6th. They’re all talk at the moment, but they’re also encouraging violence - they have been, for years. the previous twitter link didn’t work: shorturl.at/mxMQ1

Now we have more talk of a civil war, after twenty-four states back up that grotesque Greg Abbott, in wanting to keep razor wire up to kill people trying to cross into texas. My governor supported him. So, it’s okay to ignore the Supreme Court when it comes to what the alt-right wants. And republicons don’t like what the states are deciding, when it comes to abortion, so they’re promising a federal ban.
So, do I learn to use a gun, if I have to protect myself against “real Americans”? Should I be placating them, and acting like none of this is a problem? Is a civil war likely, or are they just reveling in the idea of it?

I am really, really tired of ammosexuals threatening the rest of us with all of their guns and ammo, whenever they don’t get their way.
