horoscopes.astro-seek.com/astrology-horoscope-chart-shapesI came across this whilst looking for the hexagon in a chart (I almost have one), came across this and it sparked my interest. What chart shape do you have? I was aware of these before but I ignored them for a long time. Also what shapes can you find between your planets? I have deduced that my chart is a splash chart and I feel it resonates. I like having my fingers in lots of pies and intertwining my hobbies together if I can.

like so many people I have a bucket chart. However in my case the handle-planet is not directly opposite another planet, it opposes a bit of an empty spot.

I have the locomotive shape. Starts off with Chiron and True Node and finishes with Pluto in 1st house.
The explanation makes sense and I do always keep searching for the full ultimate truth.

I think only traditional planets are used with this, so no asteroids and no Chiron; though possibly other astrologers might disagree. HOwever the more asteroids or other objects we include the more likely we will all end up with a splash chart.
You can see that,t oo in the site (astro-seek), they put blue dots to each planet in bold, but left out the Chiron, Lilith and Nodes)

Btw in my case the midpoint of the rim planets (Jupiter/Pluto) falls exactly onto my Sun-Mercury-conjunction. Too bad I`ve never had any (political) ambitions, I could have become president or something. Or at least filthy-rich and mega-successful lol But as it is I have just become an insufferable know-it-all.

In that case it starts off with Venus

so it starts with Venus and finishes with Pluto? That sounds pretty cool, like the bookends of your life being that uncompromising quest for depth, profound meaning, and love and truth in relationships. Well, venus-Pluto.
Does the Venus/Pluto-midpoint falls onto any other planet, within let`s say 1°30-2°00`?

P has all planets lined up within 136°, so more than in a bundle, but less than the 180° demanded for a bowl, not sure what that would be considered. It starts with Jupiter at 10 Virgo (or Jupiter conjunct Mars at 10 and 11 Virgo) and finishes with Venus at almost 26 Capricorn.

if your Sun is on the Venus/Pluto-mp I think it makes it even more energized and more pronounced, like this is a very defining bit of your personal energy.

Take my views with grain of salt. But to me, emotions are like my only purpose for my life. It is like all else just happens along like my job and other things.

Yes, that is exactly what I would expect with that picture. I have a Venus-Pluto-square (albeit not the rim planets of my chartshape) and I feel the same. Emotions are the motor and fuel of everything and its purpose. (and my lifelong journey to get a handle of expressing those).

If it is not included then I still think my chart is a splash but my little hexagon thing is ruined hehe And yeah, we will all have a splash chart the more we incorporate. Main planets make sense, I would include Chiron as its quite a particular body in the chart and large enough in terms of its physical presence. I suppose thats a conversation for another thread though- could be quite interesting!

I have a locomotive pattern that starts off with my Mars-ASC exact in Scorpio, and my 8th house Moon being the last coach.

FruityLlamaAm on the fence about chiron, too. In the other Hand there are a Lot of centaurs, WHO needed ti BE treated equally. Wenn tend to place more emphasis in chiron, but possibly only because He was the First to BE discovered. Also chartshapes are related to planets, and chiron isn't a Planet. If course that bring's Up the question about Pluto and ceres again. Lol So for now i Stick With the traditional approach.

I have the bowl - starting in the 9th house with my moon and ending on the 2nd/3rd house cusp with neptune. 5 planets in the top half of the chart and 5 planets in the bottom half. I can handle emotional/romantic upsets better than career/financial upsets. It would devastate me if i didn't have a job or financial security.
pls dnt quote

I have a splash chart, it's a blessing and a curse. My brother has said before that I'm like "surround sound" and then today I was at his house and he complimented me for seeing things "in totality" - he means, I'm curious about everything.
Also with Aqua Mercury...I remember eating cereal one night reading a long article about how to clean a boat engine. It's something I would probably never do. Just a well-written article.
I think other people call that "easily distracted," like I could better spend my time advancing my one Grand Agenda or mission in life. The only reason I invest so much time in astrology is because I can't seem to help it. This isn't discipline but more like obsession.

The only reason I invest so much time in astrology is because I can't seem to help it. This isn't discipline but more like obsession. I am the same. just keeps me focused there, probably because there is always something new to discover. I tend to get easily bored if things are becoming to "easy to see through and udnerstand". Maybe that is the reason why I`ve been dealing with P for such a long time. Usually crushes wane very quickly for me. But I can´t figure him out, and that`s driving me crazy, I suppose, to some degree it is a bit of that. Trying to figure out what this connection "is", but since it is like a kaleidoscope and seems to take on a different shade and form when you look at it a new, I just can`t figure it out and that keeps me interested. That and he`s never bored me (well of course when he is not communicating, then he does bore me. lol), but he keeps me entertained and my brain active, and I think that might actually be the basic root of the attraction. Or at least it has been in the starting years. Things have changed a bit over time I guess.

lumina, ah right thank you for that, yes that sounds like a very interesting discussion to have at some point! I think I still have a splash chart anyway and I totally resonate with that Ava ! I like teaching myself things and everything is interesting when you're not learning via someone lecturing you for ages. Boat engines sound very interesting!

Yeah I'm more of an exploratory (scatterbrained) learner, though my bookshelves do have major themes: astrology, history, alternative medicine, spirituality, and Elvis...those are the five major themes. The rule I've gone by in determining if a chart is a splash is, there can be no more than 90° of empty space between any two planets. When I had a thread on this at the other place, there were surprisingly few people who had these charts. But from what I recall you do have one...I know sven has one, and you were born close to him. Fortunately I do see them often in the charts of successful people, so it's not as much of a handicap as some authors would have us think.
