I went to sleep on thursday evening about 930ish and woke up at what i thought was probably 2am but was only about 11pm, fell asleep again woke up at about 1 thinking it was 5. This kind of thing happens mostly when im v tired. Its nice though lol
Do you think time works in a different way when we sleep? I thought of the movie interstellar where on differing planets time was different.

there is no actual time in sleep, time passes accordingly to the sleep and our perception. Time in sleep is not the same at all as in real life. Sleep time could be days, minutes, few hours, 1 hour.. all depends on the dream and kind of how much time we "need" to sleep and go through the stages of sleep and dreams. It is just the perception not the actual passing of time, especially in dreams.
I can often have dreams which span over a few days but dreams are actually very short in real time actually.

Thank you @intuitivefish. What you say makes sense. Timing in sleep just feels different. Had similar experience as you with dreams feeling longer than they were.

I am late to the discussion vg , but like @intuitivefish said, dreams have a different timing. I have very detailed and realistic dreams usually. Sometimes if feels like I have a parallel life when I'm asleep. It may sound crazy, but there were occasions when I wasn't sure if something happened in real life or in a dream. Could be a sign of some mental illness, I don't know... Some dreams feel like they last for days, but in reality the maximum time that we dream during each sleep cycle (each cycle lasts for 90minues) is only 45 minutes.
