Interesting but negatively-slanted article here; my apologies for even citing it as it's offensive or at least confusing (see "sun conjunct Hyades"). astrologyking.com/hyades-star-cluster/Still, for what it's worth...

I actually quite like the artcile. Anything that incites fanaticism I just disregard, but otherwise I enjoyed reading it. Thanks Ava! The Hyades dont do anything my chart apart from a sextile to Venus. I will start researching the Parthenon now though generally, youve peaked my interest ^_^

I think it's interesting, too FruityLlama I just can't figure out the connection between Athena and the Hyades (?) I mean what do they have to do with each other? Still researching that. Strange how difficult it's been to find the answer.

Ava, As far as I am aware, Erechtheus was a mythical king of Athens in the story by Euriphedes. In the story, Delphi tells him and his wife Praxithea to sacrifice a daughter in order to win the war against the Thracians, or some sort of army anyway. They agree, but the other two daughters die when their sister does. These are the Hyades. During the attack on Athens, Athena appears to Praxithea. Athena tells her that her daughters have been saved from Hades and their souls will be immortal, hence Hyades. This is also where the name Hyacinth comes from! -which means to be worshipped as goddesses. Athena basically rewarded them for their sacrifice.

Thanks very much for explaining, FruityLlama. Mythology is never going to make sense to me. I mean, "Go kill your daughter, that's the solution"....I don't connect with it at all. But at least Athena tried to make them feel better. But if you look at those stars and think of how they got there, beginning with parents murdering their daughter, it takes some of the beauty away.

No worries, and yeah Ikr! Myths are so repetitive. I mean, I looked it up, but I could have got away with guessing haha!! However, that's unfortunately the case with many aspects of ancient world history. They were all barbaric and disgusting people, but the real life stories are interesting.

I also don't get why the fixed stars themselves are in Gemini if they are part of the Taurus constellation?

I also don't get why the fixed stars themselves are in Gemini if they are part of the Taurus constellation? Tropical Gemini is sidereal Taurus
