"A Dynamic Synastry Study I have recently been studying dynamic synastry contacts between long-term partners. I’ve looked at a small collection of couples, around the time of their initial romantic involvement. The charting constraints are fairly tight: 1-degree orbs and limited sets of aspects and planets. I’ve used just one type of planetary contact: major aspects between each partner’s solar arc positions and the other’s natal positions. I selected solar arcs because this method is easiest to demonstrate when it comes to calculating statistical measures, such as the expected frequency of a specific type of aspect. I am not suggesting that this is the best method for doing a synastry analysis, and in fact I plan to present other methods as well, to illustrate the use of objective measures to compare different astrological methods. So having studied several cases, looking at aspects from each partner’s solar arc planets to the other’s natal planets, I find that the Sun, Venus, and Jupiter are very often present in these aspect contacts around the time of their initial romantic involvement – so often that I have come to expect these contacts in this kind of synastry scenario. But this kind of initial analysis can’t help but overlook important distinctions between the circumstances of individual cases. Consider, for instance, a couple such as Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, where the first romantic impulse is delayed or denied, due to the fact that one of them is already married. A Venus-Saturn contact would be a natural indication of this situation. In fact this Venus-Saturn contact was present in this case; this was just one of their solar arc synastry contacts around the time they met. I’m only looking at solar arc aspects to the partner’s natal positions, and in fact a few are within half a degree. Paul’s SA (Solar Arc) Saturn was squaring Joanne’s natal Venus at the time; also his SA Jupiter was trining her natal Jupiter. Meanwhile her SA Venus sextiled his natal Sun. He was married at the time they met, when both were performing in the same stage production. The next step is to look for any similar contacts between their natal charts. Here we find that his Saturn is trining her Venus within a degree, and so the square from his SA Saturn to her natal Venus starts to look more fruitful. In this case it appears that the contacts between Sun, Venus, and Jupiter aren’t enough to describe their situation. So we can include this distinction by adding this one Saturn contact to our model. But then we might find that leaving Mars out of our model will miss those couples who are first bound by their violent passions. One such couple, who ended up as long-term friends, were Henry Miller and Anais Nin. To take these distinctions into account, the next logical step would be to group all of the couples into well-defined categories, based on the circumstances of their meeting and becoming a couple. However, to continue refining this kind of distinction will eventually lead to a logical endpoint at which each couple defines their own category, according to their circumstances. At the same time, each refinement introduces more synastry contacts, so that ultimately, the model leaves nothing out. It becomes essentially the same model that an astrologer uses for a synastry analysis; given any pair of charts, it includes all the particulars of the synastry contacts between charts. Where does this leave us? For one thing, I have yet to introduce any statistical measures at all. I’ve been describing some kind of model without saying anything about what kind of model it is – other than that a planet can be added to it or omitted from it. I’m just showing how the concept of a model need not be confined to a statistical meaning. In fact, the content of this model — namely, the chart configurations — is no different from that of a statistical model. From this perspective, an informal astrological study, such as this one of synastry contacts over time, may not be so very different from a statistical study of the same subject matter – if one can accept that a statistical study may in fact be different from what is usually meant by the term. That will have to wait for another post." matrixpierce.wordpress.com/2009/01/28/a-dynamic-synastry-study/I have found that pretty valid, at least in terms of my parents. Around the time they met and fell in love my mother`s sa Venus was conjunct my Dad`s natal Mars-SN-conjunction. When they got married, his sa Venus was within a few minutes of conjunct her natal NN-MC. I think her sa DESC was also applying to his natal Sun etc. What I found almost hilarious is that they were having his sa Ceres squaring her n Moon, which was PRECISE, when they conceived me. LOL (his sa Ceres was at the end of Sag at that time)

Ava"15°47 Cap sun (rectified) 16°01 Aries Jupiter (disposits my Venus, is conjunct my draco Venus) 16°01 Gem Mars It sets me up for drama, because everything gets hit at once. Plus the sun, Mars, and Jupiter are the rulers of all three fire signs. " Yes, the exact hits will take place within 3 months of each other, with Mars-Jupiter being first hit. "19°12 Scorpio NN, sextile to his natal sun 19°41 Scorpio Uranus 20°39 Taurus moon * My natal NN @ 20°00 Scorpio, moon @ 18°12 Pisces " That is really wild! esp the NN-Uranus on your natal NN and applying, the tightest would have been Uranus-NN at that time, and then followed by the sa NN. Well those already had passed your Moon, the year before interestingly enough. "16°07 Gemini Jupiter * see above " Crazy! Well I think of all these aspects (which are all valid of course), the hook and main angle was his sa Jupiter to your natal Mars, and isn`t that a wonderful amazing energetic aspect! in the signs of the twins, too. P and me have that natally, his Mars-Jupiter opposping my Jupiter-Ceres, and no matter what anyone else sais, I love that aspect! lol Interestingly my parents also have a Mars-Jupiter-opposition in their synastry (my mom`s Jupiter opposing my Dad`s Mars, well her Jupiter is also conjunct his NN, and actually her Saturn is on his Mars-SN as well, but anyway, interestingly enough P and me also have the connection to the nodal axis, just that it is my nodes and it is a square. lol) But I think I might simply be used to the Mars-Jupiter-energy by growing up with that around. And I cannot really find anything negative about it, maybe apart from the fact that sometimes tempers flare about philosophical issues, but seriously just small stuff getting blown out of proportions and usually it ends with them laughing and hugging and kissing, because they got worked up about nothing, but in a way it was energizing them too. It is probably weird for an outsider. lol "2) Fallout 0° Scorpio Pluto-Juno * Square my 0° Leo Saturn " That is heavy. Pluto-Saturn in a challenging aspect is REALLY harsh and can be downright devastating. Actually the time I learneda bout P`s involvement with his now wife, our composite had sa Pluto exactly square composite Saturn. I mean like with maybe one minute of orb. Additionally I was having Tr Saturn squaring my pr and solar arc Sun. Really fun times! lol "3) Reconnection / Last time we got together in person 15°32 Sag NN (conjunct my name asteroid with about 0°20 orb) 16°00 Sag Uranus 16°58 Gemini moon (So, my natal Mars right on his SA SN) " It`s so lovely, and you can see how it is actually that tight interconnection bewteen Sun, Mars and Jupiter that shows the time of connection between you. Again a nodal connection, esp. to your Mars, and of course Uranus soooooo close opposite your Mars in particular. 7 minutes applying or so. which is about 1 month from exactness, so very very exact (solar arcs move 5 minutes per month) "Our full moon synastry moves along with the SAs: 1°19 Scorpio, his SA sun 1°29 Taurus, my SA moon " Very important, you have a synchronized Sun-Moon-opposition; my parents also have one. P`s and my Sun-Moon-conjunction is actually not synchronized, but his Mars trine my Venus is, it is I think the tightest aspects between solar arcs themselves. Now usually those things are just operating in the background, subtly humming underneath, but they become very important I believe if one of you has a natal planet being hit. like in 3 years they will overlay his nodal axis. So yes, 3 years from now will be an important timeframe. save the date (and don`t forget to send me th wedding invitation )

Well at the time of their marriage/ wedding P and his wife had this going on -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
his Sa Sun 3°30 Aquarius his Sa Saturn 3°15 Scorpio her Juno 4°10 Libra her Pluto 4°02 Scorpio
his sa Mars 17°39 Libra his sa Jupiter 16°42 Libra her Mercury 17°21 Aries her Venus 17°26 Aries her Uranus 17°58 Sag
his sa Pluto 27°56 Scorpio her Saturn 27°44 Scorpio
his sa Juno 4°12 Virgo her Chiron 4°32 Gemini
her sa Mars 10°09 Gemini her sa Jupiter 10°28 Pisces his Mars 11°06 Virgo his Jupiter 10°10 Virgo
her sa Saturn 27°43 Sag his Sun 26°58 Sag his Saturn 26°43 Virgo (ONe year before) his Moon 28°39 Sag his MC 28°14 Sag
Well the tightest aspects operating at that time therefore were
his sa Mars opposite her Mercury 0°18 s his sa Mars opposite her Venus 0°13 s his sa Pluto conjunct her Saturn 0°12 s his sa Juno square her Chiron 0°20 a
her sa Mars square his Jupiter 0°01 a her sa Jupiter opposite his Jupiter 0°18 s (it is basically what we have in natal synastry. lol) her sa Saturn conjunct his Sun/Moon-mp 0°05 a her sa Saturn conjunct his MC 0°31 a

"Do you & P have a time in the future where everything comes together? " Not sure about "everything".
Well he`s right now in a bit of an intense timeperiod. Individually I mean.
sa Mars conjunct Pluto 0°47 a (exact in july 2019) sa Pluto square NN 0°29 a (exact in march 2019)
also what you mentioned, Transits often set off the solar arcs.
"P and his wife are making me consider what SA Saturn can do to people. " Structure. Either stability or restriction. I suspect it also plays a role with legal things, more so than Jupitr actually. making certain decisions public, either marriage or divorce for example.
Well the year following their marriage her sa Saturn was conjunct his Moon-MC, and he is having a Moon-Saturn-square natally, so I think he just thought of it as "how relationships are", and in a way could project his Saturn onto her.
"ust like moving from Cap to Aqua in SA and progression was such an obvious and surprising change for me." yes, my sa Sun changed into Aqua, literally days after meeting P!
Aabout 1-2 years ago I ahd Moon, Juno and Saturn change signs. BTW my sa Saturn had been exact conjunct his NN this year.

BTW for P sa Pluto just changed signs, into 00 Sagittarius, in november 2017.
Well many years ago, just the month the concert took place, which would lead to our first meeting, his sa NN changed into 00 Libra.
In october 2010 his sa Moon entered 00 Aquarius. in fegbruarly 2011 his sa MC followed into 00 Aquarius. in march 2011 his sa Lilith entered 00 Libra. in september (end) 2011 sa Juno entered 00 Virgo.
in may 2012 sa Sun entered 00 Aquarius. in august 2012 sa SAturn entered 00 Scorpio. in june 2013 sa Venus entered 00 Pisces. in september 2013 sa ASC entered 00 Taurus. in november 2015 sa Uranus entered 00 Capricorn. in november 2017 sa Pluto entered 00 Sagittarius.
the next one will be sa Neptune into 00 Aquarius, on 15th october, or around mid october at least.
and that will be the last signchange for many years. The next one after that will be sa Mars into 00 Scorpio in january 2028.
He`s been through quite some major solar arcs in the past decade or longer.
For example in 2005, right around the time he met his previous girlfriend (longterm) before his wife, his sa DESC was conjunct his Pluto exact (Pluto is in his 7th house natally).
in 2008 (when we met), he was having sa IC conjunct Juno (september/october 2008) sa Sun conjunct Venus (literally exact on the day we met) sa Moon opposite Juno (may 2008 - the month we first met) Sa Saturn square Venus (july/august 2008 - actually we sort of crossed each other`s path then, too, but definitely messed this one up, by not even acknowledging each other for real - well mostly my fault I guess)
- well I am not claiming that those solar arcs had anything to do with me in particular, but I just thought it was interesting.
september 2009: sa ASC square Venus (no clue what was going on in his life at that point)
january 2010: sa Sun opposite Juno may 2010: sa Saturn square Juno, sa Neptune square Pluto;
may 2011: sa Pluto conjunct Uranus june 2011: sa ASC square Juno july/august 2011: sa Uranus square ASC september 2011: sa Venus conjunct true Priapus
august 2012: sa Uranus square Saturn november/december 2012: sa Uranus conjunct Sun
january 2013: sa Juno conjunct NN
march 2014: sa Uranus conjunct MC july/august 2014: sa Uranus conjunct Moon (birth of his first son was on 31st july, Moon rules his 5th house natally) october 2014: sa Venus conjunct SN; sa Neptune conjunct Venus
Curiously in 2015, the year he got married, there was not really all that much going on, maybe he needed a breather from the pretty intense solar arcs he had experienced.
then
may/june 2016: sa Neptune opposite Juno
nothing too huge in 2017 and then in 2018
january 2018: sa Lilith opposite Ceres
march 2019: sa Pluto square Node july 2019: sa Mars conjunct Pluto (of course these come with an orb, solar arcs I mean, usually astrologers consider them in play 6 months before and after exactness, some would even consider 1 year before and 1 year after, but the closer they get to exactness, the more intense the manifestations).
february 2020: sa Moon square Chiron june 2020: sa Jupiter conjunct Pluto (constellation for big success in many cases, maybe some good career opportunity)
march 2021: sa Mercury square Pluto september 2021: sa Juno conjunct Jupiter november 2021: sa Sun square Chiron
(so basically from end of 2018 until end of 2021, his Pluto gets a lot of activations)
february 2022: sa Saturn opposite Chiron august 2022: sa Juno conjunct Mars
march 2023: sa ASC conjunct Chiron june 2023: sa Venus opposite Jupiter
dec 2023/ jan 2024: sa Mars square Venus may 2024: sa Venus opposite Mars dec 2024: sa Jupiter square Venus
and so on, well 2024 looks certainly interesting

Having pointed out the year of 2024 yesterday (well I had just done a very fleeting check, which was still timeconsuming enough. lol but one German astrologer also points out the importance of antiscia/ contrascia, haven`t checked those, and of course most using solar arc would also check for semisquares/ sesisquares)
Anyway actually the year 2024-2025 seems to be a rather important one for me as well
sa Sun conjunct Moon 0°50a sa Vx opposite Jupiter 0°36 s sa Jupiter opposite Uranus 0°12 s sa Node square Uranus 0°51 a sa Saturn square ASC 0°17 s
except for the Saturn-ASC one these look rather exciting. Well there are some Chiron-directions at play mostly the year before and in early 2024, that are possibly a little challenging.
sa Chiron square Ceres 0°45 s sa Chiron opposite Neptune 0°26 s sa Chiron conjunct SN 0°13 s sa Chiron square Jupiter 0°50a
and a few years prior of this (but in my immediate future now, sa Chiron will be conjunct my DESC (exact in february 2021), I just don`t quite know what to make of Chiron, I suppose it depends what else is going on, in 2021 what else is going on is
sa Moon on 4 Aries applying to my natal IC (at the end of the year, and then also being trine Mars) sa Mars on 22 Capricorn just coming out of the conjunction to my Sun/Moon-mp, which perfected half a year before) sa Ceres on 26 Aries coming out of a trine to my Sun, for what`it`s worth, also half a year before)
I suppose relationships, and also family-relationships and nurturing, will be rather prominent that year for me.
Well Ceres just caught my eye, and in february 2024, actually my sa Moon will be exact on P`s natal Ceres, which is exactly trine my natal ASC; at that time his sa Pluto will be just 9 months away from conjuncting my natal ASC exact (after having first passed over my Mars obviously, about 2 years before) and being trine his own natal Ceres and my sa Moon.
his Pluto and my Moon are synchronized by trine in solar arc, albeit not awfully precise, but I think close enough (0°46); at that point however we will conjunct a natal planet/angle/asteroid in each other`s chart, his sa Pluto on my ASC, my sa Moon on his Ceres.
Should we still be in contact (somewhat) at that time, I mean it is 6 years away. lol, it would be interesting to see how that manifests.

Okay that is a lot to process lumina Any favorites there? Clearly you seem to favor the hard aspects (bold). I suppose that's customary for solar arc synastry? Or could the harmonious aspects be strong enough to create a strong outward scenario, too?
|
|
|
Post by lumina on Oct 3, 2018 19:43:25 GMT
Yes, the 4th harmonic aspects are being favoured as they are describing events that happen (solar arc is of course a predictive tool originally meant to describe the individual events in someone`s life).
Hard aspect will show itself, clearly, no chance to ignore them, they will make themselves heard or seen or felt. (how they do depends on the planets in question of course and your natal makeup).
I wouldn`t dismiss harmonious aspects, I think they describe a smooth flow, they won`t really lead to any big events, but they can be rather pleasant. Also I am curious how it feels if a smooth synastry aspect exists aspecting an event oriented individual solar arc. Like P has this year.
Well his solar arc Mars is applylingn to conjunct his natal Pluto in 7th house, which is of course a hard/ dynamic aspect; and my solar arc Venus is trine his solar arc Mars and natal Pluto.
I guess it won´t be too big or impressive or whatever, but it is interesting. I actually like that it is a trine and not a square or oppositio, that might have been too much. The inherent dynamic within his life as well as me also bringing drama? Erm, I prefer it this way. Probably me just being a bystander with some sort of awareness of the change of perspective that apparently has to take place for him in relationships (Pluto is in 7th house, Mars rules the 1st house - both intercepted, something seems to bubbling in him underneath the surface; also I cannot NOT pay attention to how his prevous longterm relationship started with his sa DESC conjunct his n Pluto - so seems his Pluto has something to say there about his perspective on how to relate to people.)
The Pluto-factor was not as strong when he got married interestingly, but it is interesting that both him and his wife had a Pluto-Juno-aspect, though for him it was a softer one, so I guess it might have been more of a "pressing matter" to her, and him having a relaxed aspect here, just went with that, cause that is actually what harmonious aspects do, they flow wherever the energy pulls them to. The actual pulling force has to come from somewhere else houwever (squares usually. or conjunctions and oppositions), but a trine wouldn`t really resist that, cause it is "all good, just let me chill out and relax into this energy, could have been something else, but that is okay with me, too."
Well he was having solar arc Pluto trine Juno (exact 3 months before- which actually was due at the first fanmeeting. lol)
she was having solar arc Pluto conjunct Juno (just having become exact the month leading up to their wedding).
Her chart is actually rather intriguing with solar arcs, last year she was having sa Sun conjunct Mars, and sa Mercury and sa Venus conjunct NN, almost made me wonder if she met someone (else). the nodal axis is just seen as connections (in cosmobiology, which uses solar arcs and midpoints extensively). and Mercury-Venus coming to the Nodes speaks of a friendly, romantic contact, possibly starting a romantic relationship (of course could also be some creative endeavour she started); well maybe a renewal of her feelings for her husband, though it still looks a bit weird there, it would have made much more sense at the beginning of their relationship; besides his chart has simply no touching-points with her sa Mercury-Venus and natal nodal axis. So it`s just a tad weird.
additionally she was having sa SN conjunct Uranus (trine her natal Mercury-Venus), and his sa Chiron is actually synchronized with her nodal axis, being conjunct her SN.
But anyway I just thought the timing of her sa Mercury-Venus to her natal NN is really weird, as it did NOT happen when they met, or moved in together or had their first child, or got married, but just during any random year of their relationship (unless there was something happening not so randomly, but that could have been anything I guess, maybe not even to do with her marriage, maybe she just found a new best friend or something).

2021 looks pretty crazy, especially with his sa Uranus on my Venus (and the same year my sa Venus square his Uranus). And then there is the Neptune-Juno-thing, and the DW of Juno-Node that year. 2024 looks just beautiful in my opinion. All those conjunctions. lol 2018 actually looks rather outstanding to me, too, with those things converging the same month, in july! (and actually leading up to august), and well you know how our july and august have been. LOL Also from memory his sa NN conjunct my Pluto, it was actually peaking right on the day I attended the first fanworkshop with him. lol I have Pluto in 10th house natally, he has NN in6th house natally, of course we were working! lol (not quite sure on what we were really working though ) 2020 looks a bit exhausting, probably some exciting things too, or intense, but not sure to which side it will fall. Next year looks like smooth sailing, but then again, who knows? my sa Venus might be trine his n Pluto - however our composite has the square, we both have the natal square, Transit Pluto will I believe start to conjunct his n Venus. Not quite sure how that innocent looking trine really will be, as oftentimes the natal condition really determines how a predictive aspect is being experienced, which can lead to surprises. I do like my sa NN conjunct his n Venus at the end of the year (probably building from june or so). with the other harmonious aspects it looks nice.... and then again well, there will still be my sa Venus trine his n Pluto, and my sa ASC square his n Pluto, albeit separating by then; however, those solar arcs are said to be just background developments and then transits come and set them off at certain times. Well what happens next year is that Tr Pluto apparently decides it is great idea to do the back and forth motion over my sa ASC, square his sa Mars and n Pluto, and additionally of course being conjunct our composite MOon, a degree later. Actually it seems intriguing to me that he has got this sa Mars-n Pluto there on 21 Libra, falling onto our composite NN and Mars,r ight in between, my sa ASC is moving closer to our composite Moon, and both placements will be hit by Tr Pluto by connjunction and square next year. and obviously tr Saturn and Tr node will join in eventually. Actually our Solar return for next year will have NN on his n Juno, might be more important to him of course. but then again it also is there on our DRaconic madness from CAncer-Capricorn. lol So for all the harmonious looking solar arcs next year, erm, looks might be deceiving. lol
