On every other board I've been a member of, they've had a "what's for dinner?" thread. So I thought I'd start something like that, since I'm mostly off astrology, and tend to be annoyed by most other things related to spirituality, right now.
I've been making more vegetarian/vegan dishes, but have chicken thighs to use up. If they're still okay, I will be trying Chicken Paprikash stew, made in the instant pot.
I need to make water kefir. I've had the grains in the fridge for two years, so I hope they're still okay. Talk about procrastinating.
I'll add more as I get around to them.

Yay, food. 💓
^^ Don't think I've ever had water kefir.
I'm not very consistent with cooking, but looking forward to the posts here. Thanks for this thread. I miss 12muddy's recipes. The way she described them was just... *_* Wish you were here, gal.
On topic, it's probably chickpea curry for me today.

Quiche and beans for life! My recipe involves buying it already made at the supermarket haha. I am such a lousy cook but I really need to learn so am also avidly awaiting responses from people here.

I need to make some rice, peas, and corn, as a snack or to put the chicken mixture over. I've been eating more frozen dinners recently, like fettucine alfredo. Ramen noodles, too.
I've wanted to make chickpea and potato curry, for months. I've had the ingredients here, I just need to make it. I also made a vegan "butter chickpea" instead of chicken, back in March. I think that was on a site called heartbeets. That was really good.

Ooh I love quiches. Used to make em, one in particular that I liked had caramelized onions and some other good stuff.

Oh but, very rarely. Most days, I'm just a blob, as the name says. Thank you so much! You reminded me how much fun it is.

It's a weird thing for me, but since we're discovering that my oldest son has gluten sensitivity, I find that I'm basically cooking all day long now, ha. This is funny because I've always had a very pronounced aversion to cooking or doing dishes. This morning, I'm being lackadaisical about breakfast so we're having a leftover homemade spinach avocado dip with gluten free crackers, and grapes. I mean, it's not stereotypical breakfast food, but whatever. Next I'm going to make spaghetti with gluten free elbow macaroni and sauce from scratch (I might use tomatoes from our garden, if we have enough). I have a lot of work to get done today, so I'm thinking that spaghetti will have to work for both lunch and dinner. I find that if I make something my family likes a lot, I can do that.

Violets - your comment reminded me of something my Cap Bavarian friend once said to me: "If I had kids, I think we'd just eat pasta all the time." At least it's fresh! anela - I bought new water kefir grains and followed the directions exactly and nothing happened. $11 loss. I hope it's much better for you! My appetite is usually very small but lately I get ravenous every few hours. This morning I had a sudden craving for this quinoa "rice pudding" that I used to make pretty often: - quinoa - homemade almond milk - cinnamon/nutmeg - sunflower seeds - flax oil I made enough to have a few more servings of this....considering how hungry I get, it might be gone by tonight. I wonder what nutrients raw sunflower seeds have. I've been craving them every day.

A super complicated meal of bread, butter, and tea.

I had chili that I made in the instant pot. I made it last week, too - and had buttered Italian bread with it. I also made my usual turmeric soup, and have bean soup in the freezer. Butternut squash soup, too, with a bit of sriracha added. I need to make tomato soup, possibly tonight.
I'm drinking celery juice, most mornings, with a bit of lemon. I'll be making a lentil soup from sprouted routes, too - I think she changed the URL to her own name, so I don't have a link handy right now. Next week, I'm hoping to use the mung beans that I've had for a while, and adzuki beans. They're supposedly easier to digest, and good for your kidneys, and detoxing. I used adzuki beans once, at the beginning of 2016, when I wanted to try an elimination diet. I also added mung beans to soup, and made more into a hummus (recipe from Hemsley and Hemsley) a few years ago.

Is that PEPPER whisperix ? What is that? 12YearsABlob ...what kind of bread, butter, and tea? That CAN get complicated! anela , you make me feel like my sun really does have to be in the 6th house, because I talk just like you..."I eat this because it's good for these organs, and I drink that for my skin and hair..." (or whatever) and it doesn't matter how weird the food is. Well actually I remember some birthday book making fun of people born on my birthday because apparently we all like unusual food. The author mocked us for serving crazy stuff like burdock root at dinner parties. I was laughing so hard because I had burdock root in the fridge, as I was reading that. (But didn't serve it to anyone. I learned the hard way, you can't expect anyone to love you for introducing them to stuff like macrobiotics, not even "the friendly way," with desserts made from barley flour and brown rice syrup. Actually that's an especially bad idea, to mess with dessert, no matter what the cookbook authors say.)

12YearsABlob ...what kind of bread, butter, and tea? That CAN get complicated! Teehee. Oh, it was just regular stuff. Needed something soft and a hot drink, that's all. It was milk tea so I could dip my folded bread-butter in it (is that gross? ). I loove when the butter gets all melty and it's all one big mushy bite. anela , you make me feel like my sun really does have to be in the 6th house, because I talk just like you..."I eat this because it's good for these organs, and I drink that for my skin and hair..." (or whatever) and it doesn't matter how weird the food is. Oh yeah, I have that internal dialogue. Picked that up from my mom (Virgo sun, so kinda like you in that regard). I try to follow whatever principles I've internalized. But I'm an emotional eater, so I frequently don't practice what I preach (to myself). Luckily, I love veggies, fruits, and all the good stuff, so I don't have to convince myself. It's like your body has its own internal regulation(?) After a bout of eating something heavy, you just naturally crave the crunchy greens and fiber-rich fruit. And the way a green smoothie gives you *real* energy and makes you feel nourished, unlike coffee, which is just fooling you. "Oh you want to not feel tired anymore? Alriiiiight, I'll just block your adenosine receptors. There. Now you have no idea how exhausted you are. Cool?" Actually that's an especially bad idea, to mess with dessert, no matter what the cookbook authors say.) Hmm, yeah, I know what you mean... I like substitutions that we can use without compromising the integrity of the dessert. I'm like, "This IS a dessert, not a salad. I'm not going to kid myself." They each have their place, of course. That's why we're supposed to only have them sparingly (lol). 'Substitutions' I like to make: old school panna cotta (i.e. without gelatin or agar-agar - not a substitution exactly, because I doubt the folks who made the original had access to gelatin), pancakes without baking soda, etc. I'm always on the lookout for things like that...

I just peel it, dice it (arduously) and include it in my all-purpose oriental vegetable soup that is my winter-time staple meal. That's: - Ghee in a hot pan - Add grated ginger, minced garlic, sliced scallions (white part of two of them), stir - Quickly add a quart of diced vegetables (not bell peppers, eggplant, or mushrooms...more like, squash, asparagus, carrots, green beans, turnip, daikon radish, mung sprouts), stir - Add a quart of water plus one cup - Bring to a boil and add brown rice shell pasta and freshly ground pepper (and dried shiitake mushrooms if you have 'em) - Simmer about 15 minutes, retrieve and dice the shiitake mushrooms while burning fingers even if trying not to...#RealLife Meanwhile, put in a pretty bowl: - chopped greens (arugula, watercress, cilantro) - hot sauce, toasted sesame oil, tamari or Bragg's Liquid Aminos or Himalayan salt Ladle soup into bowl and stir and watch happily as the greens turn greener. I like if some ingredients aren't fully cooked because I'm Uranian and like surprises, like a few al dente noodles here and there, or undercooked carrots that had floated on the surface where parts are exposed to air. I love tr Mercury in Sag, I feel like I can overexplain without penalty.

.... without baking soda, etc. I like that ! There is a difference in the taste.
Although I admit I make the simple version of a pizza base with baking soda. Pfft. A lot of cheese and nobody tastes the difference.
